APPLICATIONS FOR JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP
NO. OF POSITIONS - 8 (EIGHT)
Applications are invited for JUNIOR RESEARCH
FELLOWSHIP (JRF) positions at one of the premier research institutions in
India, the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC),
Thiruvananthapuram under the Indian Space Research Organisation
SPACE PHYSICS LABORATORY, VSSC
Space Physics Laboratory (SPL), a pioneer
institution dedicated for research in different disciplines of Atmospheric,
Space, and Planetary Sciences, offers excellent and challenging research
opportunities in various fields including Physics, Chemistry and Dynamics of
surface, lower, middle, and upper atmosphere-ionosphere and their coupling
processes, Aerosols, Clouds, Space Weather phenomena, and Lunar and Planetary
Explorations.
Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) carries out
frontline research in different disciplines of Atmospheric, Space and Planetary
Sciences. It offers excellent and challenging research opportunities in the
experimental exploration and modeling of Atmospheric Aerosols, Trace Gases,
Clouds, Radiation Budget, Atmospheric Chemistry and Dynamics, Planetary surface
characteristics, Ionosphere-Magnetosphere, Electrodynamics, Sun-Earth
relationships, Space Weather phenomena and Lunar, Cometary, and Planetary
Sciences. SPL is involved in major Space and Atmospheric science programmes of
the country, such as Chandrayaan-1, Mars Orbiter Mission, YouthSat,
Megha-Tropiques, Aditya-L1 Mission, ISRO-Geosphere Biosphere Programme, etc. Well-equipped
laboratories and major experimental facilities are available exclusively for
these studies as well as for utilization of data from satellites. SPL also
co-ordinates major experimental campaigns, at national and international level,
using balloons, aircrafts, rockets, and research ship cruises, and is also a
contributor to India's polar research programme
Eligibility: First Class M.Sc. Degree in
Physics/Applied Physics/ Atmospheric Science/ Meteorology/Space Science/ Space
Physics/ Planetary Sciences/ Astronomy & Astrophysics with minimum 60%
marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA/CPI grading on a 10 point scale. Those
who are slated to complete the M.Sc. course in the academic year 2013-2014 are
also eligible to apply, provided final year mark list and certificate
(satisfying the eligibility criteria) can be produced at the time of joining.
Age Limit: 28 years as on 18.06.2014 (Persons with
Disability are eligible for age relaxation as per rules).
Selection Process: Applications will be received
on-line only. Based on the online application, initial screening will be
conducted to short-list the candidates for written test/interview. Candidates
qualifying in the written test will be called for an interview. Applicants who
have cleared Joint CSIR-UGC Test (NET) for Junior Research Fellowship (not
Lectureship) or have valid GATE score will be directly called for interview.
The written test is tentatively scheduled on 12.07.2014 at Thiruvananthapuram.
The call letter for written test/interview will be sent to the short-listed
candidates by e-mail or can be downloaded from the VSSC website on or after
04.07.2014. The result of the written test will be announced on the same day
itself in the VSSC website and interview will be conducted on the very next
day.
How to apply: Upon on-line registration, applicants
will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully
preserved for future reference. After submission, it is mandatory for the
applicant to send only the following documents:
A confirmatory copy of the online application. No
Objection Certificate, from the employer concerned in respect of those
applicants who are employed under Central / State Government / Public Sector
Undertakings / Autonomous Bodies.
The applicant should not send any other documents
such as copies of certificates/marklists in proof of educational qualification,
work experience, age etc.The above documents should reach the following address
not later than 25.06.2014.
Guidelines To Fill The Online Application
STEP 1:
REGISTRATION
You would require your e-mail ID to register. You
can register only once using this e-mail ID.
Click on the link "Apply Now". Fill all
the fields and click on the 'SUBMIT'
button. On successful registration, you will receive an e-mail with
following details:
From : no-reply@vssc.gov.in
Subject: Reg: Advt.No.RMT283 of VSSC RECRUITMENT
Then click on the link given in the e-mail to open
your online application form. Check your SPAM/BULK MAIL folders if the mail is
not seen in the INBOX.
STEP 2:
APPLICATION
Fill in all the information correctly and
"SUBMIT". On Submission, you will have an opportunity to preview and
confirm. Read all the details carefully. If any change is required, Click on
"GO BACK".
To finally submit your application, click on
"CONFIRM" button. On successful application, your registration number
will be displayed on screen and an e-mail will be sent to you. Note down your
Registration Number and keep in a safe place. This would be required for
checking the status of your application in future.
STEP 3:
PRINT THE APPLICATION
This step is required to send your application
summary by post.
Click on the "PRINT APPLICATION SUMMARY
FORM" button. Take two print-outs of the form.
STEP 4: SEND SUMMARY FORM BY SPEED POST
This step is mandatory to complete the application
procedure. Without this, your application will not be considered. Send one copy
affixed with your latest photograph and Testimonial by Speed post to the
address mentioned below super scribed in the cover Registration
no,Advertisement No. VSSC-283,Dated 04.06.2014.
