Eligibility Detail:

Applicants for the degree course should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination (XII Std.,) under the 10 + 2 pattern prevalent in Tamil Nadu or its equivalent from other Universities or Boards.

Candidates, who pass the All India Senior School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi, will be eligible for admission, provided they pass the examination with a minimum of five subjects of which English shall be compulsory. An applicant should provide an eligibility certificate, from the University of Madras at the time of interview.

Candidates for the M.Com Degree should have passed B.Com., B.B.M., B.A.(Cooperation), BA(Business Economics), B.A (Industrial Organisation ) or B.Sc. (Maths) with Accountancy and Costing or Banking as allied papers scoring 50% and above in courses other than B.Com.

Candidates for the M.A (Eco) should have passed B.A. (Eco) or B.Sc. (Maths) or B.Sc. (Statistics) or B.Com degree examination.

Applicants for the M.Sc (Chem) should have passed B.Sc. degree with chemistry as the main subject from the University Of Madras or its equivalent from other Universities with Mathematics as one of the allied subjects.

English is the medium of instruction for all the courses of study. Only Hindi and Tamil are offered under First Language. All courses are under the semester pattern prescribed by the University of Madras.

 Applications are invited for admission to Department of Physics, University of Calcutta (92 Acharyya Prafulla Chandra Road, Kolkata 700009) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D degree in Physics. Candidates who wish to pursue research work through this Department should apply in the prescribed proforma (can be downloaded from the departmental webpage at http://www.physics-caluniv.in/admissions.html) by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan obtainable from Rajabazar Science College Campus (Sales Counter).

The filled-in application form, along with the challan, should be submitted to the Office, Department of Physics, definitely by June 25, 2014. The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ-type examination of 1 hour duration to be held in this Department on June 30, 2014 at 11-00 hr. The syllabus of this examination is the Physics M.Sc. syllabus of this University excluding Elective and Advanced Papers. The successful candidates will be called for an interview on June 30, July 3 and 4, 2014. The final selection for joining this Department as a Ph.D. student will be on the basis of this interview.

The number of Ph.D. students that will be taken this time is at the most 14 (fourteen), if found suitable, including reservations as per existing rules. The allocation of supervisor will also be on the basis of this interview (see CU website for the areas on which research is carried on here).

Candidates who have already passed UGC/ CSIR(JRF) Examinations/ NET/ SET/ SLET/ GATE/

Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M.Phil./M.Tech or equivalent examination need not appear at the written examination, but have to appear at the interview.

Candidates who are studying in the final semester of the qualifying examination and have cleared

all the papers upto 3rd semester can also apply. Final marksheet showing that the candidate has indeed passed that qualifying examination should be produced at the time of joining the Ph.D.

programme.

Applications are invited for admission to the A. K Choudhury School of Information Technology, University of Calcutta (JD-3, JD Block, Sector III, Salt Lake City, Kolkata 700098) for Ph.D. Course and subsequent research work leading to Ph.D. degree in Information Technology. Candidates who wish to pursue research work through this School should apply in the prescribed proforma by paying Rs. 100/- through a challan available through different University Cash counters. The proforma for application is available in the University website. The challan is to be duly forwarded through the Coordinator, A. K Choudhury School of Information Technology. The completed application form with a copy of the paid challan is to be submitted in the office of the Coordinator by June 15, 2014. At present 25 Ph.D. students (reservation is applicable as per the National/State reservation policy) will be taken, if available. The allocation of supervisor will also be on the basis of this interview (see the University website for the areas on which research is carried on here). The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written MCQ examination of 1 hour duration followed by interview to be held in this Department which will be informed to the candidates after the initial screening process. The syllabus of this examination is the M. Tech. (Information Technology) syllabus of this University including that for all the elective papers. However, those candidates who have already passed UGC/ CSIR(JRF) examinations /NET /SET /SLET /GATE /Teacher Fellowship or equivalent examinations or passed the M. Tech./M.E. degree in Information Technology or equivalent examination need not appear at the written examination and can directly appear at the interview.

Eligibility Criteria: Candidates with the following background may apply for enrolment to the Ph.D. program in the School:

M. Tech. or M. E. in IT/CSE/CS/Electronics or equivalent, M. Sc. in Computer and Information Science/CS/Electronic Science/Physics/Applied Physics/Mathematics/Applied Mathematics/Bio Informatics/ Biophysics and Molecular Biology or M.C.A or B. Tech./B.E. in IT/CSE/CS/Electronics or equivalent as per the University regulation. The relevant Ph. D. rules for B. Tech./ B.E. students would be applicable as per the University Norm.

The candidates having final degree of M.E./M.Tech. , B.Tech. and M.C.A. are to apply for enrollment in the Ph.D. (Tech.) program and the candidates having the final degree of M.Sc. has to enroll for the Ph.D. (Sc.) program.

M.C.A. candidates applying for Ph. D. Tech. program would have to follow the same rules applicable for B. Tech./B.E. Candidates for registration.

All the relevant rules regarding equivalence of degree obtained from other universities would have to be complied with including endorsement by the Ph. D. committee.

FACT Technical Society is arranging a five day intensive short term course on 'BOILER OPERATIONS' on 9th June to 13th June 2014, Monday to Friday (9 am to 4 pm) at FACT Udyogamandal Club hall, Udyogamandal, Eloor.

FACT Technical Society has been conducting this boiler operation' course for more than two decades' with 100% success to all it's candidates in first and second class Boiler Attendants examinations conducted by the Kerala State Factories and Boilers Department. This course covers the wide spectrum of topics related to all aspects of boiler operations. Now-a-days with huge capacities, modern instrumentation, high pressures & temperatures in boiler operations the operations of boilers need good operational skills and statutory requirements also make it compulsory to achieve certification in boiler operations. The course is designed to give a thorough knowledge' to aspiring & practising' candidates' to all aspects of job challenges in boiler operations in the industry & the syllabus is prepared as per certification exams

Age, Qualifications and experience requirement for

Boiler Attendant of the Second Class: A candidate for a certificate of competency as a Boiler Attendant of the Second Class shall not be less than eighteen years of age and has passed matriculation or equivalent examination from a recognized institution of board has served for not less than two years, in the capacity of a Fireman or Operator or an Assistant Fireman or Assistant Operator on a steam boiler; or has served for not less than three years as a fitter where boilers are manufactured or erected, operated or repaired. Out of this he should have served as Assistant Fireman for at least one year; or must have served for not less than two years on small industrial boilers, in case of Industrial Training Institutes certificate holder.

Boiler Attendant of the Second Class: A candidate for a certificate of competency as a Boiler Attendant of the first class shall not be less than twenty years of age and he possesses a certificate of the second class and has served for not less than two years, as boiler attendant with second class certificate of competency as sole charge of a boiler whose rated heating surface is not less than fifty square meters; or produces from the head of an industrial or technical institution, a certificate stating that he has completed a three years course of training, one year of which must have been as an apprentice in a steam power plant of mill or a factory or an engineering workshop where engines and boilers are repaired or made and in addition has served for not less than one year as sole working charge of a boiler of not less than fifty square meters of heating surface with Second Class Boiler Attendant certificate of competency; or has worked for not less than two years as Fireman or Assistant Fireman with Second Class Boiler Attendant Certificate of competency under the charge of First Class Boiler Attendant on boiler having heating surface of more than fifty square meters.
