Indian Forest Service Exam 2011
The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2011 commencing from 09th July 2011, to be conducted at various centers across the country.
Eligibility Conditions:
(i) Nationality:
A candidate must be either :
(a) A citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Srilanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Provided that a candidate belonging to ca-tegories (b), (c), (d) and (e) shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
(ii) Age Limits:
(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st July, 2011, i.e. he must have been born not earlier than 2nd July, 1981 and not later than 1st July, 1990.
(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable :
(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.
(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.
(iii) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from the 1st January, 1981 to the 31st day of December, 1990.
(iv) upto a maximum of three years in the case of Defence Services personnel disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof:
(v) upto a maximum of five years in the case of ex-servicemen including Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years Military Service as on 1st July, 2011 and have been released (i) on completion of assignment (including those whose assignment is due to be completed within one year from 1st July, 2011) otherwise than by way of dismissal or discharge on account of misconduct or inefficiency, or (ii) on account of physical disability attributable to Military Service, or (iii) on invalidment.
(vi) Upto a maximum of five years in the case of ECOs/SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st July, 2011 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for civil employment and that they will be released on three month's notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment.
(vii) upto a maximum of 10 years in the case of blind, deaf-mute and Orthopaedically handicapped persons.
(iii) Minimum Educational Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least one of the subjects namely Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Science, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics, Physics, Statistics and Zoology or a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Forestry or in Engineering of any of Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University Under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification.
(iv) Number of attempts:
Every candidate appearing at the Examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted four attempts at the examination. The number of attempts permissible to candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes, shall be seven. the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates
(v) Physical Standards:
Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standards for admission to Indian Forest Service Examination, 2011 as per regulations given in Appendix-III of the rules for the Indian Forest Service Examination, 2011 published in Gazette of India dated 19th March 2011.
How to Apply:
a) Candidates may apply online using the website http://www.upsconline.nic.in as per the detailed instructions for filling up online applications.
b) Candidates, residing in specified remote areas (only), may also apply off-line in the New Common Application Form (Form-E) devised by the UPSC which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post Offices through out the country against cash payment of Rs.30/- (Rupees thirty only).
Fee:
a) Candidates applying Online are required to pay a reduced fee of Rs.100/- (Rupees Fifty) either by remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of SBI or by using Visa/Master Credit/Debit Card.
b) Candidates, from remote areas, applying Offline through New Common Application form (Form-E) are required to pay a fee of Rs.200/- (Rupees One Hundred) only through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only.
c) Female/SC/ST/PH candidates are exempted from payment of Fee. (OBC Candidates are required to pay full fees)
Address and Last Date for Submission of Applications:
a) Online: The Online applications can be submitted upto April 18, 2011 till 11.59 PM.
b) Offline: All Offline applications have to reach " Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi 110069 on or before 25th April 2011, either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier.
