Applications have been invited for admission to Full-time/Part-time Ph.D Programmes being offered in the University departments of Periyar University and full-time M.Phil and Ph.D programmes being offered in the affiliated Colleges/Research Institutions of Periyar University during the Academic Year 2011-12.

Eligibility:
M.Phil:
Candidates who have qualified for Post Graduate Degree of this University or any other University recognized by the Syndicate as equivalent thereto shall be eligible to register for the Degree of Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.,) in their respective subjects.
Candidates shall be required to have obtained a minimum of 55% of marks in their respective Post Graduate Degrees.
For the candidates belonging to SC/ST community and those who have qualified for the Master’s degree before 01.01.1991 the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master’s Degree.

Ph.D:
For the purpose of admission to Ph.D., programme, a candidate should have obtained a Master Degree with not less than 55% of marks or an equivalent grade.
For the candidates belonging to SC/ST community and those who have qualified for the Master’s degree before 19th September 1991 the minimum eligibility marks shall be 50% in their Master’s degree.

Candidates can register under the following categories for the Ph.D. programme:
a) Full Time (with or without stipend or fellowship)
b) Part Time (teacher or non-teacher; internal vis-à-vis external)
c) Research Fellows/Research Assistants/Technical Assistants/Project Assistants/Training Officers in Extension Departments approved by the University, appointed in the Research Projects funded by recognized Agencies/Government are also eligible to register for Ph.D. on a full time basis in the same department provided they satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down.
d) Independent Research without Supervisor

Candidates appearing for final semester/year examination can also apply provided they satisfy the eligibility conditions for admission at the time of joining.

Eligibility:
Candidates having completed their Master’s Degree programme with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent OGPA from any recognized university in India and abroad would be eligible. For SC/ST and Physically Handicapped candidates, the minimum per cent of marks will be relaxed by 5 per cent or equivalent OGPA.

Candidates appearing in the final semester would also be eligible provided they complete the Postgraduate degree in all respects by the date of examination and produce the degree-completion certificate from the Registrar to this effect.

Age:
The minimum and maximum age limit shall be 21 years and 30 years respectively for General Category. (iii) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level with at least three years teaching experience in the subject concerned in a recognized College/University/Institute OR at least three years experience on supervisory executive positions in Industry/business house.
(iv) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level and the candidate has also qualified the UGC/CSIR-NET, GATE, SLET etc.
(v) At least 55% marks or equivalent CGPA at the Master’s Degree level if the candidate has been selected as Junior/Senior Research Fellow in a research project sanctioned by UGC, CSIR, ICSSR or any other govt. body to the University or its Institutes.
(vi) In the case of NRI/Foreign candidates, at least 55% marks in the qualifying examinations of Master’s Degree in the relevant discipline. However, the candidates, who have passed the qualifying examinations from any foreign University, will have to submit equivalence certificates from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi.

ADMISSION CRITERIA:

1. ELIGIBILITY:
Candidate should be a citizen of India.

2. NATIVITY:
Candidate should be a Native of Tamil Nadu. Except, for the candidates who have studied in a school in the State of Tamil Nadu continuously without break from 8th Standard to Plus Two, the other candidates should produce the Nativity Certificate in the prescribed format from the competent authority. The candidates who are the children of parent of Tamil Nadu origin but living in other States should also produce the Nativity certificate as mentioned above.

3. AGE LIMIT:
Should have completed the age of seventeen years on or before 31st December 2011. Evidence should be produced.

4. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
(i) Candidates should have passed in all the subjects of the qualifying examination of the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (Academic) conducted by the Tamil Nadu State Board / any other equivalent Board in one and the same attempt in the following group of subjects with the minimum eligible marks. A failure in examination reappearance/first appearance, in compartment in one or more subjects will be treated as an attempt.
(a) Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (or)
(b) Physics, Chemistry, Biology with any other subject

(ii) Language qualifications for BSMS / BUMS Courses
(a) FOR BSMS COURSE : In addition to the minimum eligibility marks
1. The candidate should have studied in Tamil medium up to X Standard or Plus Two, or
2. The candidate should have studied Tamil as a subject up to X Standard, or Plus Two, or
3. The candidate must be prepared to pursue the study of Tamil Language as a subject during the First professional Course of B.S.M.S. course, to become eligible to take the other subjects Examination of the BSMS Course

(b) FOR BUMS COURSE : In addition to the minimum eligibility marks
1. The Candidate should have studied in URDU Medium upto X Standard or Plus Two, or
2. The candidate should have passed Urdu/ Arabic / Persian as a subject up to X Standard or Plus Two, or
3. Should have passed the Adeeb-e-Fazil Examination or Entrance Examination of Afzal-Ul Ulama Examination of the University of Madras to be eligible to apply for the BUMS course on the date of submission of application.

Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Mumbai, invites online applications from the aspiring Maharashtra State candidates who have passed HSC examination or equivalent examination for admission to First Year to Two/Three year Post HSC Diploma courses in Surface Coating, HMCT, Rubber Technology and Pharmacy in Govt, Govt Aided and such unaided polytechnics/institutes and/or such number of seats from unaided institutes, which by mutual consent have decided to form part of this admission process for the academic year 2011-12.


Eligibility
A) Diploma Course in Surface Coating Technology:
The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.


B) Diploma Course in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (HMCT):
The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination of Science/Arts/ Commerce/ Home Science/ MCVC.


C) Diploma Course in Rubber Technology:
The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or its equivalent examination with subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
OR
The candidate should have passed Diploma Course in Electronics / Mechanical / Civil / Electrical / Chemical Engineering or Technology or its equivalent discipline from Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education or any Autonomous Polytechnic of Government of Maharashtra or any other examination declared by the said Board to be equivalent.


D) Diploma Course in Pharmacy:
The candidate should have passed the Higher Secondary Certificate (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education or any other examination declared by the said Board to be equivalent thereto, with and in (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Biology / Mathematics and (4) English.


How to Apply:
Information Brochure and Application Kit will be available for sale at the cost of Rs. 4007-for General Category candidates (Rs. 300/- for Reserved Category candidates belonging to Maharashtra State only) in Cash at all Application Form Receipt Centers


Submission and Confirmation of online filled application form:-
All candidates are required to fill the web based online application form on http://www.dte.org.in/poly2011 at ARC / Cyber Cafe or any computer connected to internet and take printout of the “Online filled Application Form”.
The candidate should sign on the printout of online filled Application Form and attach the required attested copies of certificates.
All Maharashtra State candidates should report in person to the ARC for confirmation along with attested true copies and original documents for verification. Applications submitted Online and subsequently confirmed at ARCs will only be considered valid for further processing.
Other than Maharashtra Candidates (OMS) are not eligible for admission through CAP, such candidates shall contact to unaided institutes for admission in institute level seats.

Applications are available at the Vidyasagar University Enquiry Counter on payment of Rs. 60.00 between 11.00 a.m. to 2.30 p.m till 26.07.2011.
Electronic version(Downloaded / on-line) of Application Form is obtainable through the web Portal http://onlineadmission.vidyasagar.ac.in. Such applications are to be submitted accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs. 100/ in favour of Vidyasagar University payable at Midnapore.
