Qualification:

Candidates need to secure minimum qualifying marks in GD & Interview, before being considered in the merit list.

State Bank of India has been authorized to collect the registration fee, in a specially opened account (No. 30987919993) at CAG branch, New Delhi, on behalf of NTPC. Candidate has to approach the nearby SBI branch with a printout of the “pay-in-slip” which is available on the application registration portal. The pay-in-slip printed from the portal should only be used for depositing the fee for proper crediting of amount in the allocated account. On receipt of the money, the bank will issue a unique Journal Number and a Branch Code of the bank collecting the money. This journal number and the branch code are to be filled up by the candidate during online registration.

Only full time Regular courses will be considered. This shall include School examinations (Class X and XII), all Diploma(s), Graduation and Post-Graduation as specified under the qualifications. All qualifications must be from UGC recognized Indian University / UGC recognized Indian Deemed University or AICTE approved courses from Autonomous Indian Institutions / concerned statutory council (wherever applicable).

Those currently in final year (2015-16) of their Engineering Degree/MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) course may also apply provided candidates belonging to General and OBC (NCL) category have secured minimum 65% marks in aggregate and candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ PWD category have secured minimum 60% marks in aggregate up to the last semester/ year examination at the time of applying. Selection of such candidates will be further subject to obtaining minimum prescribed marks in their Engineering Degree/ MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) and submission of Engineering Degree / MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) certificate (at least provisional certificate) and mark sheets of all semesters / years towards documentary proof of having passed the qualifying Engineering Degree / MCA Degree (for ET (BIS) only) examination in relevant discipline/ branch, by 31st August, 2016.

Wherever CGPA/OGPA or letter grade in a Degree is awarded, equivalent percentage of marks should be indicated in the application as per norms adopted by University/Institutes. Engineering Degree can be B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Sc. Engg. Candidates having 5 years B.E / B. Tech. + M.E / M. Tech. integrated dual degree in engineering in relevant discipline shall also be considered.

Age Limit & Relaxation: The upper age Limit is 28 years as on 29.01.2016. The upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years for SC/ST candidates and 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates. It is relaxable by 10 years for PWD-General, 13 years for PWD-OBC (NCL) and 15 years for PWD-SC/ST candidates. The above relaxation in upper age limit is applicable only in respect of posts which are reserved for SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL) candidates. SC/ST/ OBC (NCL) candidates applying against unreserved (UR) posts will not get relaxation in upper age limit.

Relaxation in upper age limit shall be applicable for PWDs irrespective of the fact whether the post is reserved or not, provided the post is identified suitable for PWDs. The upper age limit is also relaxable by 5 years for candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir between 1.1.1980 and 31.12.1989. In case of Ex-servicemen who have put in not less than six months continuous service in the Armed Forces of the Union, they shall be allowed to deduct the period of such service from their actual age, and if the resultant age does not exceed by more than 3 years the maximum age limit prescribed for the posts/ services for which a candidate seeks appointment, he/she be deemed to satisfy the conditions regarding the age limit. Maximum upper age of the applicant shall not exceed 56 years including all possible age relaxations.

On receipt/ downloading of GATE- 2016 Admit card with registration number, candidates will have to separately apply online in GAIL indicating their GATE-2016 Registration Number at http://www.gailonline.com.  The relevant link will be made available from 1100 hrs on 22.12.2015 to 1800 hrs on 29.01.2016. Applicant should ensure that the GATE-2016 Registration number which is mentioned on GATE-2016 admit card, is entered correctly in the online application. Name should be filled up as appearing in the GATE-2016 Admit card. No request with respect to making changes in any data/ particulars entered by the candidate in the online application will be entertained, once the application is submitted successfully.

A Candidate can apply for one post/ discipline only. LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship

LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship

Applications can be submitted online at http://www.licindia.in/GJF_home.htm  till 23rd September, 2015, for the 'LIC Golden Jubilee Scholarship' for students belonging to the economically weaker families for pursuing higher studies.

The objective of the scheme is to award scholarships to meritorious students belonging to economically weaker families so as to provide them, better opportunities for higher education and enhance their employability.

The scholarship is to be awarded for studies in India in a government or private college/university. It will also cover technical and vocational courses in Industrial Training Institutes/ Industrial Training Centres affiliated with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) of classes at Graduation level.

Applicant should have passed Class XII exam or its equivalent in the academic year 2014-15 and should be interested to pursue higher education in the field of Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline, Diploma Course in any field or other equivalent courses or in Vocational Courses through Government recognized Colleges/Institutes or courses in Industrial Training Institutes (ITI).

For Medicine, Engineering, Graduation in any discipline or Diploma course in any field, applicant should have passed Class XII exam or equivalent in the Academic year 2014-15 with at least 60% marks or equivalent grade. For Vocational Courses, applicant should have passed Class X or equivalent in the Academic year 2014-15, with at least 60% marks.

In both cases, annual income of parents/guardian from all sources should not exceed Rs.1,00,000/- per annum. Scholarship shall be provided for the entire duration of the course subject to the candidate fulfilling the requisite eligibility conditions for renewal.

The Scholarship amount is Rs. 10,000/- per annum, payable in ten monthly instalments of Rs.1,000/- each. The Scholarship amount will be transferred to Bank Account of the selected scholar through NEFT. In case the candidate is selected for scholarship, the Bank Account details and IFSC code are compulsory.

20 Scholarships will be given per Divisional Centre of LIC with 10 each for boys and girls.

Selection of LIC Scholar will be on the basis of merit assessed by the percentage of marks in class 12th /10th and family background based on annual income of the family. Eligible Students having the lowest income shall be given preference in the ascending order.

Those selected should secure more than 55%marks in professional streams and 50% marks in graduation courses in Arts/Science/Commerce or equivalent grade in the previous final examination of the course for which scholarship is awarded, for continuation of the scholarship in subsequent years. Scholarship shall not be given to more than one student in a family.

The students should be regular in attendance for which the yardstick shall be decided by the competent authority of the school/college/university.

Income certificate should be on self-certification basis by way of an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper for self-employed parents and from employer for employed parents supported by documents (from revenue department) such as land held in the name of parents.

The scholarship may be suspended or cancelled, if a student violates any terms and conditions of the scholarship.

LIC Golden Jubilee Foundation will lay down the detailed procedure for processing and sanctioning of scholarships to eligible students.

Call for Indo-French EFIPRA programme

Under Indo-French Programme(CEFIPRA Targeted Programme)in Information and Communication Science & Technology (ICST)

Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Institut National de Recherche en Informatique et en Automatique (Inria) jointly with the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique of France (CNRS) launch a joint call for proposals to foster collaboration between scientific Communities of two countries in the area of Information and Communication Science & Technology. In India, on behalf of the Department of Science & Technology, Indo-French Centre for Promotion of Advanced Research (CEFIPRA) invites proposals from the Indian scientists / researchers.

Areas of Collaboration (targeted topic for the call)
Project proposals will be supported in the following scientific areas:
> Distributed and Autonomous Systems;
> Machine Learning
> Cybersecurity.

Eligibility
 Applicants from both countries must fulfil the following requirements: On the Indian side: Applicants have to hold a permanent position as scientists/ Faculty members in universities/ deemed universities, academic institutes and national research and development laboratories/institutes. On the French side: As per CNRS (Link 1)&Inria‘s call for proposal(Link2).
Application
The joint proposal shall be written in English. Proposal submitted to only one Party will not be considered. All applicants must fulfill their national eligibility rules for their research grant application. A format is given for the submission of proposal. Applicants from Indian side should ensure that French collaborator must submit the proposal to Inria (who wants to collaborate with Inria Research Team) or to CNRS (who wants to collaborate with CNRS Research Unit) in their specified format.
Evaluation of Project Proposal:
After the closure date of call, Inria, CNRS and DST will exchange list of proposals, received on their side.Commonly received proposals will be evaluated by DST, CNRS and Inria according to their own evaluation rules, and will rank the proposals based on scientific quality and interest.
The evaluation criteria will be based on the following:
Relevance of the proposal to the call
Technical and Scientific quality of the proposal
Quality of the project management & methodology
Global Impact of the proposal
Quality of the consortium and good synergies between the partners
Mobilization of resources
Added value to be expected from French-Indian research collaboration
Balanced Scientific and Financial contribution
Based on the scientific evaluation, national ranking, and consensus reached through discussions, a joint committee will select the joint project (s) to be supported.

Project funding:
Jointly selected proposals will be funded in India by DST and in France by Inria (for Inria Research Team) or by CNRS (for CNRS Research unit). The joint proposal must meet the criteria of the funding agencies for consideration. Each project will be funded for a period of three years. The indicative funding from each side will be Euro 10000-15000 (8- 12 lakhs) per project per year. The support will be given under the following heads.
 International travel (including airfare (India to France & Vis-a-vis), daily allowance, accommodation anddomestic travel in the receiving country during a participant's stay abroad) for researchers, engineers, post-doctoral Fellows, Ph.D Students as per CEFIPRA norms ( Link-3)
Support for JRF /SRF / PDF (as per DST guidelines)
Contingency Upto Rs. 30,000 per year.

The cost of accident and sickness insurance during travel will not be supported under this Programme. Since, the project is supported mainly for collaboration; applicants have to indicate about the status of co-funding.

Intellectual Property:
The rights of intellectual property arising from the program shall be, in principle, the joint property of the project participants and their employing institutions. AWARD OF DBT-RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIP IN BIOTECHNOLOGY & LIFE SCIENCES

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the award of "DBT-Research Associateship" for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology. The Associatcship Is tenable In Research Institution / Universities including non­profit R&D Institutions within India. The Associateships are awarded under a spouse red by the Department of Biotechnology. Ministry of Science and Technology. Government of India.

ELIGIBILITY
The applicants should hold a Ph.D. degree in Science. Engineering or M.D. or M.S. (Medical) degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. The Associateship can be availed within 2-3 yearsof the award of Ph.D.. M.D. M.S. degree; however, may be relaxablc (by 2 years) in case of in-service candidates. Those who have already submitted the Ph.D.'M.D.'M.S. thesis arc also eligible to apply (attach proof of submission front the Registrar / Controller of examination-.! The application should be below the age of 40 years and 45 years in case of women and in-service candidates. Persons already employed are also eligible to apply. However, their applications should be routed through their employers.

DETAILS <)l THE AWARD
The Research Associatcship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associatcship may be extended upto 5 years. In both cases, renewal is subject to satisfactory annual academic progress. Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of Rs. 36,000-40,000/- per month and a research contingency grant of Rs. 50.000 per year, payable to the host Institution. Candidates
who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D.'M.D..'M.S. degree, if selected will be paid Rs. 28,000.- per month till award of the degree. The associate would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associatcship. 'I he Associatcships normally are not availed at the same Institution where candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D./ M.S. degree or with the doctoral thesis supervisor or continue on doctoral thesis work. Candidates who are already in regular employment can avail the Associateship during the period of his1 her sabbatical.' study leave, in a different Institute / University.

MODE OESELECTION
The candidates will be selected based on their C.V. and performance in the interview. 'Die interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in October/November 2015. The candidates called for interview will not be paid TA'D A to attend the interview. If the candidate accepts the Associateship. he/she must join the host Institution. University within a month's time.

The applicant is advised to propose his/her place of work, name of the supervisor, enclose one [«: 11;*-■ synopsis of proposed research which must be compatible with the on-going research of the proposed supervisor, and his/her consent for availing the Associatcship. They should also enclose a declaration stating that if selected for the Associatcship, he she will complete the tenure of the Associaleship. However, they may be allowed to relinquish the Associatcship only if accepting permanent employment in India. Those who had applied previously need not apply.
