Admissions to postgraduate programs (Master's and Ph.D.) with MHRD and other Government Scholarships/ Assistantships in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/ Science are open to those who qualify in GATE, The GATE score is also used by some PSUs for their recruitment. GATE 2018 score will be valid for three years.

Examinations for all the papers will be Computer Based Tests._

For examination centres in India, the application fee is ?750 for female candidates, ?750 for SC/ST/PwD candidates and £1500 for al other candidates. For examination centres in Dubai and Singapore, the application fee is US $100, and for Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka and Kathmandu, US $ 50 will be applicable.

The application fee has to be paid ONLINE. The application fee once paid shall not be refunded.

AWARD OF DBT-RESEARCH ASSOCIATESHIP IN BIOTECHNOLOGY & LIFE SCIENCES

Applications are invited from Indian Nationals for the award of "DBT-Research Associateship" for pursuing research in frontier areas of Biotechnology and applied biology. The Associateship is tenable in Research Institution/ Universities including non-profit R&D Institutions within India. The Associateships are awarded under a program sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicants should hold a Ph.D degree in Science, Engineering or M.D or M.S. (Medicine) degree in any area of medicine with research interests in Biotechnology and Life Sciences and a good academic record. The Associateship can be availed within 2 years of the award of Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree; however, may be relaxable (by 2 years) in case of in-service candidates. Those who have already submitted the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) thesis are also eligible to apply (attach proof of submission from the Registrar / Controller of examinations). The applicants should be below the age of 40 years and 45 years in case of women and in-service candidates. Persons already employed are also eligible to apply. However, their applications should be routed through their employers.

DETAILS OF THE AWARD

The Research Associateship is a purely temporary assignment and is tenable for a period of 2 years. In exceptional cases, depending upon the progress of the research, the Associateship may be extended upto 5 years. In both cases, renewal is subject to satisfactory annual academic progress. Each fellow would be entitled to a stipend in the range of Rs.36,000-40,000/- per month and a research contingency grant of Rs.50,000 per year, payable to the host Institution. Candidates who are yet to be awarded the Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree, if selected will be paid Rs.28,000/- per month till award of the degree. The associate would also be entitled to HRA and other benefits as per the DST guidelines applicable to Research Associateship. The Associateships normally are not availed at the same Institution where candidates have earned their Ph.D./M.D./M.S. (Medicine) degree or with the doctoral thesis supervisor or continue on doctoral thesis work. Candidates who are already in regular employment can avail the Associateship during the period of his/her sabbatical / study leave, in a different Institute / University.

MODE OF SELECTION

The candidates will be selected based on their C.V. and performance in the interview. The interview will be held at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, in November 2017. The candidates called for interview will not be paid TA/DA to attend the interview. If the candidate accepts the Associateship, he/she must join the host Institution/University within a month's time.

MODE OF APPLICATION

Candidates may submit their application on plain paper strictly as per the format available at http://biochem.iisc.ernet.in/dbtra.html. The applicant is advised to propose his/her place of work, name of the supervisor, enclose one page synopsis of proposed research which must be compatible with the on-going research of the proposed the on-going research of the proposed supervisor, and his/her consent for availing the Associateship. They should also enclose a declaration stating that if selected for the Associateship, he/she will complete the tenure of the Associateship. However, they may be allowed to relinquish the Associateship only if accepting permanent employment in India.

Preamble: Stiff competition, higher quality standards and growing concerns of safety & environmental damage have pushed the Industrial sector to adapt state-of-the-art Automation Techniques for effective utilization of resources and optimized performance of the process plants. Recent trend of merging control systems associated with both factory and process automation demands knowledge from diverse fields. Automation applications span plant automation, discrete and batch process control, embedded machine control and manufacturing production line automation. The industrial automation applications include automation of time critical systems that demand precise real time readings and control. Qualified automation engineers are needed to meet these requirements of designing appropriate automation systems. But, one need to have knowledge of diversified fields such as PC/ PLC based Control, Instrumentation, H/W, S/W, Networking, Industrial AC Drives, Machine Vision, DCS, SCADA/HMI, High speed data acquisition, RTOS etc., to become a successful automation engineer.

Objective of the Course: This course is aimed at making an Engineer with appropriate experience; a qualified designer of Industrial automation systems with the use of PLCs, PACs, Industrial Field Instruments, Industrial PCs, SCADA/HMI, Data-acquisition boards, Machine vision, robots, Microprocessor based instruments, and related Software. The course also includes an industrial oriented project work during which the student will be working on specific assignments of his/her choice.

Outcome of the Course: Qualified automation engineers to meet the requirements of designing appropriate industrial automation systems.

Other Contents

a. Course Fee:

General Candidates: Course Fee is Rs.70,000 + Service tax @ actual. The course fee can be paid in installments as given below.

SC/ST Candidates: Tuition Fees/Examination fees are waived for SC/ST students admitted under SCSP/TSP. However they are required to remit an amount of Rs.8,050/- as Advance caution/security deposit. This amount will be considered as caution/security deposit and will be refunded after successful completion of the course. If the student fails to complete the course successfully this amount along with any other caution/security deposits by the student will be forfeited.

b. Registration Fee: An amount of Rs.1, 000/- should be paid at the time of registering for the course (for all candidates). The same will be considered as caution deposit on student joining the course. This advance deposit will not be refunded for a selected candidate who does not join the course.

c. Course Fee Installment Structure: Students can pay the full fees of Rs. 80,500/- (70,000 + Service Tax@15%) in advance or as installments as given below

Advance fee - After publication of first selection list, the students in the first selection list have to pay the Advance Deposit within one week to take the provisional admission. Students in the additional selection list should pay both Advance and First installment fee together on or before counseling day.

d.  Eligibility:

ME /M.Tech or BE /B.Tech in Electrical/ Electronics/ Instrumentation/ Chemical Engineering/ Applied Electronics and Instrumentation/ Instrumentation & Control/ Electronics & Communication/ Mechatronics / Computer Science. Final year students" of above disciplines also may apply.

# On the date of counseling/ admission, final year students have to produce the originals of course completion certificate & mark lists up to and including the last semester/ year examination. Only those candidates who have passed all the semesters/ year examinations of their qualifying degree on or before the date of counseling are eligible for admission. The PG Diploma certificates shall be issued to only those who produce the original or provisional degree certificate, the original mark lists and complete all the modules of PC100 program successfully as per the course requirements.

e. Number of Seats : 50 SC/ST candidates and Persons with disabilities are eligible for seat reservation as per existing rules.

f. How to Apply : Students are advised to apply online at http://nielit.gov.in/content/onlineregistration.  Payment towards advance fee of Rs.1,000/- may be paid the SBI Collect Payment Gateway @ http://nielit.gov.in/calicut/content/modepayments-0  Rs.1000/- will be considered as refundable caution deposit on student joining the course, which will be refunded on successful completion of course. This advance deposit will not be refunded for a selected candidate who does not join the course.

Last date for receiving completed application forms First selection list will be prepared based on the applications received on or before 11th September 2017. The additional selection list will be prepared based on the applications received on or before 20th September 2017 and excluding the applicants included in the first selection list.
