The Department of Social Work, University of Delhi announces admission to M.A. in Social Work for the academic session 2013-2015. The Department of Social Work is one of the oldest and premier institutions in India offering a Two- year post graduate degree in Social Work. This post-graduate course is primarily designed for those who seek opportunities in the field of social welfare and development practice.

Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the Department of Social Work is open to both men and women having completed a Bachelor's Degree programme of 3 years duration from a recognized University. The eligibility criteria are as follows:
a) Any person with a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 year) in any discipline with minimum 55o/o marks from recognized university is eligible to apply.
b) B.A. (H) Social Work students with a minimum of 50oh marks from a recognized University are eligible to apply.
c) Those Candidates who are appearing in the final year examination of the Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply subject to the qualification listed above.
d) Candidates belonging to SC/ST shall be eligible as per Delhi University rules to pass with the minimum marks.
e) PWD candidates shall be allowed 5% of relaxation in the eligibility requirement.
f) Candidates belonging to OBC category shall be eligible for admission as per University norms.

Selection Procedure: Those satisfying eligibility requirements will be assessed for selection through a two-stage process involving: (a) Written.Test and (b) Group Discussion and Personal Interview. The admission test will be held on 3rd March, 2013 (Sunday) at Delhi. The new academic session shall commence from 24th July, 20l3 (Wednesday). Admission Bulletin along with application forms shall be available from 10th January,2013 (Thursday) to 11th February, 2013 (Monday) and may be obtained from the Department of Social Work against a cash payment of Rs.650/- (Rs.4504 for SC/ST/PWD candidates) at Department counter or by post or by downloading the form from website www.du.ac.in  along with a demand draft of Rs.700/- (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST/PWD candidates) drawn in favour of Registrar, University of Delhi, payable at Delhi.

Last date for receipt of completed applications at the Department by hand or by post is 18th February, 2013 (Monday).

SSSIHL offers several courses for admissions (Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Professional programmes) for applicants.
At the Postgraduate level, only a limited number of courses are open for direct admissions. The remaining postgraduate courses are integrated programmes whereby students graduating in certain undergraduate programmes automatically qualify for Masters programmes, provided they get the required Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the Undergraduate level.

Eligibility: For all the programmes minimum marks are required, candidates belonging to SC/ST are entitled to a relaxation of 5% marks

Undergraduate Programmes: Candidates should have completed 10+2 or 12 years of schooling of a recognized board or CBSE, or equivalent thereof
Candidates should have either passed or appeared for the final qualifying examination at the XII standard level before the date of admission test
At the X standard level, the candidate should have secured minimum of 55% marks in General English, and minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all the subjects including General English and languages
Candidates who fall marginally short of the requirement may be considered for admission test, provided they have secured in the XI standard minimum of 55% marks in General English and minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all the subjects including General English and languages
The candidate should preferably be below 19 years of age as on 31st May of the year of admission

Postgraduate Programmes (including B.Ed/M.Ed): The candidates should have had formal education for a minimum of 15 years, (10+2+3) pattern or any other pattern recognized as equivalent thereto by the university
The candidates should have passed or appeared for the final qualifying examination at the Bachelor’s degree level before the date of admission test
Candidates who have passed the final qualifying examination must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in General English and 60% marks in aggregate of all subjects
If CGPA is awarded, the eligibility is 3.5 and above in a 5 point-scale grading with ‘B’ grade in General English
Candidates who have appeared for the final qualifying examination but whose results have not yet been declared are also eligible to apply, provided they have secured a minimum of 50% marks in General English and a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all the preceding years/semesters put together; or ‘B’ grade in General English and a GPA of 3.5 and above in all the preceding semesters/years put together
In the B.Ed programme, the Institute offers teaching methodology in the following subjects only; English, History, Civics, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
Only those candidates who have studied any two of the above subjects in their qualifying degree should apply
They will have to appear for admission test also in the same subjects

Minimum Qualification for Applying to the M.Phil. programme
3.2 Candidate who has obtained a Master’s Degree from this or any other University recognized as equivalent thereto securing not less than 55% marks (50% for SC/ST/Cat-I) or equivalent grade in the aggregate at the Master’s Degree Programme shall be eligible to apply for the M.Phil Degree Programme in the concerned/cognate subject. Marks rounded off to make the percentage to 55 or 50 as the case may be through grace marks is not permissible for claiming M.Phil registration.
3.3 Such of the teachers employed on full-time basis before 31.03.1992 and who are continuing
in service in any of the affiliated colleges, constituent colleges and PG Department of any recognized University shall be eligible to apply for M.Phil programme, subject to a minimum aggregate score of 50% (45% for SC/ST/Cat-I) at the concerned Master’s Degree.
3.4 Admission to the M.Phil, programme shall be open to full-time (i.e. regular) candidates and
also to the persons who are deputed for undergoing the M.Phil programme by the college or institutions recognized by the University.
3.5 No candidate/college teacher shall be admitted to the M.Phil Programme as an external or a Part-time candidate.
3.6 Candidate of other university may be permitted for M.Phil programme on enhanced fee structure as prescribed by the university, from time to time. All other terms and conditions applicable to university candidates would be applicable to them.

4.0 Entrance Test
4.1 A candidate who is eligible for admission to the M.Phil programme shall be selected on
the basis of an Entrance Test administered by the University. There shall be two papers, at the Entrance Test, Paper – I & Paper – II, each paper carrying 50 marks. However, candidates who have passed the NET/SLET/GATE are exempted from the Entrance Test.
4.2 Candidates who have appeared for the Entrance Test shall secure a minimum of 50% in each paper and 55% marks in aggregate in the two papers (45% in each paper and 50% of marks in aggregate in two papers in case of SC/ST/ Cat-I Candidates) to be considered eligible for registration.
4.3 The Entrance Test shall be followed by an interview to be arranged by the Department. The candidates are expected to discuss their research interest.

5.0 Duration and Structure of the Programme
5.1 The duration of the M. Phil Programme shall be of one academic year with two consecutive terms, each term consisting of six months duration.

3. Merely obtaining qualifying marks in the Ph.D. Entrance Test shall not confer any right upon the candidate for his / her registration to the Ph.D. programme. Admission to Ph.D. programme will be subject to the availability of seats / supervisors in the concerned departments.
4. Affix with gum three latest attested passport size photographs at the appropriate places (photocopies shall not be accepted.).
5. Fill in the required information in every column accurately. Do not leave any column blank. The information supplied by the candidate especially relating to DATE OF BIRTH, CATEGORY, DOMICILE, and ACADEMIC QUALIFICATION shall be treated as final and no change shall be allowed to be made in this regard at a later stage. The application shall be scrutinized strictly according to the information supplied by the candidate and the responsibility with regard to the accuracy of the information shall lie with the candidate himself / herself.

After completing the submission process successfully, you must take a print-out of the completed application form for your reference.
On successful submission of your online application form, you will get an online application number. Please retain this form number carefully for future reference.
Check the status of payment after 48 hours by sending an email to vgupta@upes.ac.in. Please mention your online application number, date of application and the program/stream that you have applied for.

Important Note :
Applications will be treated as valid only if the corresponding online payment has been made successfully.
Candidates who have already applied to other UPES B. Tech programs need not apply again. They will be provided an opportunity to opt for the new programs at a time of centralized counseling
