UGC Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates

ON-LINE SUBMISSION INTERFACE WILL BE AVAILABLE ON 27th November, 2012 ONWARDS

University Grants Commission invites applications for the award of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates for the year 2012-13 respectively under Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship for SC/ST Candidates to undertake advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engineering & Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences in Indian universities & colleges for pursuing full time studies leading to M.Phil/Ph.D degree. This fellowship would be available only to those SC/ST candidates who are not availing themselves of the benefit of JRF of UGC-NET or UGC-CSIR NET.

Selections will be made on the basis of merit. The guidelines of the scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the fellowship, eligibility, state wise distribution of 2000 fellowships for SC candidates and 667 fellowships for ST candidates may be seen by logging on to the UGC website: www.ugc.ac.in.

Applications in the prescribed format may be submitted only through on-line mode latest by 1 (One ) month’s time from the date of publication of the advertisement (non-extendable) by logging on to website: www.ugc.ac.in/rgnf

The decision of the Commission with regard to selection of candidates for the award of fellowships shall be final.

NOTE:-
1. Applications submitted only through online mode shall be entertained and no application submitted in hard copy shall be entertained or considered for award of fellowship under any circumstances whatsoever.
2. Record of the candidates, who have not been selected, shall not be preserved beyond three months from the date of declaration of results, which will be notified in the UGC website.

Secretary

Eligibility:
The candidate should belong to SC / ST and should have passed the Post Graduate examination. The selection will be made on the basis of merit of the candidates. The candidate must get himself / herself registered for MPhil / PhD at the first available opportunity but not later than within a period of two years from the receipt of award letter.

Existing emoluments of the RGNSRF are as follows:
(i)   Fellowship in Science, Humanities and Social Science:  @ Rs 12000/- pm for initial two years - JRF;  @ Rs 14000/- pm for remaining tenure - SRF

(ii)  Fellowship in Engineering and Technology:  @ Rs 14000/- pm for initial two years - JRF;  @ Rs 15000/- pm for remaining tenure - SRF

(iii) Contingency A:  @ Rs 10000/- p.a. for initial two years; @ Rs 20500/- p.a. for remaining tenure - Humanities and Social Sciences

(iv) Contingency B:  @ Rs 12000/- p.a. for initial two years; @ Rs 25000/- p.a. for remaining tenure - Sciences, Engineering and Technology

(v)   House Rent allowance: as per university / institution / colleges rules

(vi) Departmental Assistance:  @ Rs 3000/- p.a. per student to the host institution for providing infrastructure - All subjects

(vii) Escorts / Reader Assistance: @ Rs 2000/- pm in cases of physically handicapped and blind candidates All subjects
