ADMISSION NOTICE FOR Ph.D. - SESSION 2012-13

A competitive written examination on all India basis for admission to the Ph.D. degree Programme in the following disciplines will be held at IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly (U.P.) on 27th May, 2012 (Sunday).The successful candidates in the written examination will have to appear in an interview to be held on 25th,26th and 27th June, 2012( Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday) as per schedule given in the Information Bulletin at I.V.R.I., Izatnagar. However, sponsored candidates for admission into Ph.D. and M.V.Sc degree programme are exempted from written examination.

ELIGIBILITY: -
(i) The candidates for admission to Ph.D. programme must have M.V.Sc degree in the concerned discipline with a minimum
of 60% marks in aggregate or OGPA 7.00/10.00 or equivalent (55% marks or OGPA 6.45/10.00 or equivalent for S.C./ S.T.and sponsored candidate).
(ii) A good knowledge of English language.
(iii) Minimum age for admission into Ph.D. and M.V.Sc. shall be 23 years and 21 years, respectively. Normally there will be
no upper age limit. The age shall be reckoned as on 1st August, 2012.

HOW TO APPLY: -
1. Information Bulletin and Application form for admission can be obtained from the Assistant Administrative Officer (Acad.), IVRI, Izatnagar, Bareilly (U.P.) 243 122 by submitting a bank draft of Rs.1200/- for General/OBC/PH category and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST category candidates drawn in favour of “ICAR, Unit IVRI, IZATNAGAR” payable at State Bank of India, CARI Branch (Code No. 7027), Bareilly.
2. Information Bulletin and Application form are also available on Institute website (www.ivri.nic.in)  and can be downloaded and have to be submitted alongwith a bank draft of Rs.1200/- for General/OBC/PH category and Rs.1000/- for SC/ST category candidates drawn in favour of “ICAR, Unit IVRI, IZATNAGAR” payable at State Bank of India, CARI Branch (Code No. 7027), Bareilly.
3. Application forms can be obtained from 15th March to 14th April, 2012 (by post) and from 15th March to 19th April, 2012(at University Counter).
4. Last date for receipt of application forms duly filled in either by post or at counter: 20th April, 2012 (upto 05.00 P.M.)
The last date for candidates from the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, States/Union Territory in the North Eastern Region, Ladakh Division of J&K State and Sikikim is 27th April, 2012.
5. Date of registration & Commencement of Academic Session: 01st August, 2012 (Wednesday).

Note: -
1. The candidates who have appeared in the Master’s degree examination in the year 2012 are also eligible to apply provisionally for admission but they will have to submit documentary proof of their successful completion of qualifying degree examination on the date of registration. However the candidates will have to submit documentary proof of his/ her successful completion of course work with final OGPA and Thesis Submission Certificate duly signed by the competent authority at the time of interview.
2. 15%, 7.5%, 27% and 3% seats are reserved for S.C./ S.T./O.B.C. & Physically Handicapped candidates respectively, subject to their being otherwise eligible.
3. The candidates seeking admission for Ph.D./M.V.Sc. degree programmes at this Institute as sponsored candidates should be on deputation terms/study leave.
4. There is a provision of payment of IVRI Scholarship to the selected candidates for Ph.D. degree programme @ Rs.10,500/- p.m. for three years subject to fulfillment of conditions of award of fellowship/scholarship. The IVRI Scholarship will be granted to only those selected candidates who come through Entrance Test and not to the Sponsored candidates.
5. Postal delay in any matter concerning admission will not be the responsibility of the Institute.

For M.V.Sc Degree Programme: (for sponsored candidates only)
The candidates who are sponsored by their Departments for M.V.Sc degree programme can also apply in response to this Admission Notice. Information Bulletin may be consulted for further details about the disciplines offering M.V.Sc degree programmes and other matters. Sponsored candidates for M.V.Sc degree programme shall have to appear in the interview on the dates as notified above.
The sponsored candidates for admission to M.V.Sc. programme must have Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science as specified under the V.C.I. Act (i.e. B.V.Sc. or B.V.Sc. & A.H.) with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate or OGPA 6.00/ 10.00 or equivalent.

Symbiosis Entrance Test Overview
Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET) is a common written test for the admission processes of undergraduate institutes of Symbiosis International University established as under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 vide notification No.F.9.12/2001 U.3 of the Govt. of India. In the year 2002 there were 3 constituent institutes of SIU. Subsequently ten more Institutes of Symbiosis have been brought under the ambit of Symbiosis International University vide notification No.F.9.12/2006-U.3 (A).
It is a mandatory written test for the admission process for the undergraduate programmes of the following Symbiosis institutes namely:-
1. Symbiosis Law School.[SLS] - Pune
2. Symbiosis Law School.[SLS] – Noida
3.Symbiosis Institute of Computers Studies and Research [SICSR]
4.Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies[SCMS-UG] – Pune
5.Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication [SIMC-UG]
6.Symbiosis School of Economics [SSE]
7.Symbiosis Centre for Management Studies[SCMS]-Noida
8.Symbiosis Institute of Design [SID]
However, SET is not mandatory for the Symbiosis instititute of Technology (SIT), Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences (SIHS), Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON) and Symbiosis School of Liberal Arts (SSLA).

How to Register For SET – 2013?
Step 1. A candidate can register for one paper from the morning session; viz, Law or Engineering or Health Sciences and one paper from the afternoon session; viz, General or Design Register at www.set-test.org  This will generate your SET ID.
You need to upload your latest scanned photograph (in the given format and size) at the time of online registration.
Step 2. Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1500/- towards the test fee and for prospectus of undergraduate programmes of Symbiosis International University. The SIU Admission Cell will courier a copy of prospectus to the address registered at www.set-test.org
Candidates have four (4) choices for payment as follows,
1. CASH:
This ‘Payment Advice’ form is in three parts. Pay Rs. 1500/- in cash at Axis Bank or Indian Bank branches in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank will return two parts of the ‘payment advice’ form to you.
The ‘student copy’ is your receipt.

3. ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD:
You may pay directly through either Master or Visa card online.
Follow the instructions given in the SET website.
4. ONLINE PAYMENT THROUGH NET BANKING:
You may transfer your SET test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariat account using Net Banking option.

Please note that Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be responsible for nondelivery on any delay on the part of courier / postal services.

It is also mandatory to complete registration by filling up the on line application form of desired institute for desired programme before the closing date of application of the respective institute.

Step 3. Admit card should be printed from the website. This will be operative from April 24, 2013 to May 04, 2013.
 Log in with SET ID and password in SET website.
 Download and take print out of this.
 Bring the admit card to the test center along with a photo-identity proof.
An acceptable photo identity is any one of the following:
· Passport
· Driving license
· College / Institute identity card
· Credit card with photograph
· Voter Id Card
 At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce the photo identity as described here. An official nominated by Symbiosis will verify and authenticate your admit card against the photo-id.
 Please preserve this authenticated admit card for further selection processes of individual Institutes.
Note: Please note that no duplicate admit card will be issued in case it is lost by the candidate.

Important:
SET registration fee is non-refundable. Please note that claims for refund of the SET registration fee will not be entertained on any account.
At the time of filling online application form or while appearing for SET test, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processes of all under graduate institutes of Symbiosis International University and make the student liable to legal prosecution as per the laws of country.
Every student is urged to note that no donation or capitation fee is required to be paid for admission to any of the Symbiosis institutes. Students are cautioned against falling prey to any such assurance/offer by any individual or outside agency.

FEE STRUCTURE
The fee structure shall be decided or may be revised by the competent authority of the university from time to time. The present
fee is as follows:
The admissions in different programmes of University are open for all citizens of India- irrespective of caste, class, creed or sex.
Reservation for different categories of students belonging to U.P. & other states shall be made as per provisions of Gautam
Buddha University Act, as applicable at the time of admission. As per the present status, in each school 23% of the total seats will
be reserved for SC/ST candidates and 27% for Other Backward Classes (OBC). Apart from this, horizontal reservation within the
category is also applicable which is as follows:

APPLICATION PROCEDURE - HOW TO APPLY
(a) Online submission- On-line application form and brochure will be available on university website: http://www.gbu.ac.in.
Application fee may submit through Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking / Demand Draft.
Note: Candidate must send the printed copy of the filled online application form along with relevant documents and Demand
Draft (if applicable) on the address given below.
(b) Off line submission- OMR Application Form with information brochure can be obtained from University Counter by paying in Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Chairman, Admissions Gautam Buddha University” payable at New Delhi of Rs. 1200/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 600/- for SC/ST candidates.

© Outstation candidates may obtain OMR Application Forms by post after paying Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Chairman, Admissions Gautam Buddha University” payable at New Delhi of Rs. 1250/- for General/OBC candidates and Rs. 650/- for SC/ST candidates. The completed OMR application form should reach The Chairman Admissions, Gautam Buddha University, Near Yamuna Express Way, Greater Noida, U.P.-201312. For details of the programme, refer to the university website/information brochure.
Note: Transaction charges for payment through Credit Card / Debit Card / Net Banking additional with the application fee.

The completed application form should be accompanied with following documents:
a. Self attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from 10th onwards.
b. Self attested copy of caste certificate, if applicable For Under Graduate Degree Programme, please mention
'Application for Under Graduate Programme (GPTU-2013) on the right top corner of the envelope.
For Graduate /Post Graduate Programme, please mention 'Application for Graduate /Post Graduate Programme

MODE OF SELECTION
PROGRAMMES FOR UNDERGRADUATE CANDIDATES
(GPTU-2013)
i For Integrated dual degree programme (B.Tech.+M. Tech./MBA, BBM+MBA) and BA LLB, the admission will be
based on the performance in the written test (GPTU-2013) only.
FOR GRADUATE /POST GRADUATE CANDIDATES
i For MBA programme, students will be selected on the basis of written test (GPT-2013) followed by a group
discussion and personal interview.
i For remaining post graduates programme the admission will be based on the performance in the written
test/Personal Interview (GPT-2013) only.
Please note:
The selection to the programme shall be provisional until the candidate furnishes all required documents and
testimonials including final results of the qualifying examination. The candidate should have completed all the
requirements (theory/practical, and viva- voce) of the award of qualifying examination before the commencement of the session. It is mandatory for all such candidates to submit the final results of the qualifying examination by 30 September 2013.

CENTRES FOR ENTRANCE TEST (Not applicable for M.A./M.Sc /MSW /MMC/M.Phil)
The GPTU-2013 and GPT-2013 will be held at following centres. Candidates are advised to give three choices of test centres. The centre may be relocated if the required number of students fails to opt for a particular centre in a specific test. Request of any change in the choice for test centre shall not be entertained under any circumstance.
