M.Phil. graduates with masters in Life Science can look for openings in Research & development institutions in life science area, all over the world. Institutions in India like RGCB, IGIB, CCMB, IIMT etc also have limited requirements. The terms and conditions of the fellowships are:

2. The amount of fellowship payable under the scheme is Rs.24000/- per month besides house rent allowance and medical benefits as per rules.
3. The selected fellows will carry out research under the joint supervision of two guides, one having strength in basic research and the other in technology development.
4. After the award of the Ph.D., the DGFS-Ph.D. fellows will have the option to appear for selection under K.S.Krishnan Research Associateship (KSKRA) programme without going through further process of screening. KSKRAs are selected every year and paid a stipend of Rs.26,000/- + benefits for a maximum period of 2 years. Anytime during the 2nd year of associateship, subject to satisfactory performance, the KSKRAs will be absorbed in one of the R&D centres of DAE as above and appointed in the Grade Scientific Officer (D/E).

ELIGIBILITY
a. Qualifying Degree and other academic qualifications:
Candidates should possess M.E. / M.Tech. or equivalent degree in Mechanical/Chemical/Metallurgical/Nuclear/ Electrical/Electronics/Instrumentation or Computer engineering disciplines with minimum 60% Marks in B. E. /B.Tech. and minimum of 60% marks in M. E. / M. Tech. or equivalent degree as per the Ordinance of the respective degree awarding University OR equivalent CGPI (converted to % Marks by multiplying with 100/x if the CGPA is on x points scale).
b. Age limit:
The candidates desirous of availing DGFS-Ph.D. Fellowship should have been born on or after August 1, 1983. Age limit is relaxable by three years
for OBC and by five years for SC/ST applicants. The age limit for the candidates working as faculty in Engineering Colleges desirous of doing Ph.D. without the fellowship grant is 40 years.
c. Nationality:
Applicant should be an Indian citizen.

SELECTION PROCESS
Applicants who fulfill the above mentioned eligibility criteria, and whose M.Tech. project is of relevance to DAE, shall be called to BARC, Mumbai in July 2011 for a written screening test followed by interview of selected number of candidates based on the merit in the screening test. The candidates should be prepared for a 10 minutes presentation on their research interest. Outstation applicants called for interview will be paid, after their interview, to and fro sleeper class train fare by shortest route, or actual fare, whichever is less.

Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) of Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and Indo-US Science & Technology Forum (IUSSTF) have invited applications from Indian Researchers for the award of Indo-US Research Fellowship Program of Year 2011.

Eligibility Criteria for Indo-US Research Fellowship:
Academic Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Science, Engineering,Technology or Medicine.

Applicants must provide proof of independent research work in internationally recognized academic journals.
Age: Upto 40 years as on 31 December 2011
Employment: A permanent position in a public funded R&D lab/ S&T institution (non-private)/ recognized universities/colleges in India

Area of Work: Area proposed by the candidate should be clearly defined as:
(i) Atmospheric and Earth Sciences
(ii) Chemical Sciences
(iiii) Engineering Sciences
(iv) Life Sciences
(v) Medical Sciences
(vi) Mathematical and Computational Sciences

Promising applications in areas other than the above areas may also be considered.

Place of work: The fellow should be accepted by the US scientific/technological institution, which is internationally recognized as an outstanding institution where major work in the identified area is in progress. There should be willingness on the part of the American institution to accept and extend necessary support to the candidate for the work proposed.

The candidate should himself/herself correspond with their proposed host institution abroad for placement. Candidate is required to produce evidence, in the form of a letter of acceptance from the US institution to be visited along with merits/uniqueness of that host institute in the proposed area.

Note: The candidates who have availed any other overseas fellowship to USA for a period of more than three months through any Government/public funding agency during last two years will also not be considered for this fellowship.

Fellowship:
“The IUSSTF Fellow will be entitled to fellowship amount of US $ 3000 per month.”


"IUSSTF Fellow will also be entitled to a personal contingency grant of up to a maximum of Rs. 50,000 to cover for visa, airport transfer, medical insurance etc. Medical insurance expenses, visa fee, airport transfer charges will be met by the fellow from out of this personal contingency grant."

IUSSTF Fellow will also be permitted to travel within USA to attend conferences or visit other institutes of interest with the approval of the advisor at the host institute. The Fellow will be entitled to avail one of the following grants for this purpose.

i) Grant of $ 600 for fellowship period upto 6 months
ii) Grant of $ 1200 for fellowship period beyond 6 months

Air-tickets for all the selected IUSSTF Fellow would be provided directly by the IUSSTF travel desk by economy class and shortest route from their place of work in India to the place of the American host institute and back. As a rule, reimbursements will not be provided for air tickets purchased directly.

Rules governing payment of salary, leave, medical, gratuity, GPF and pension etc. of the organization/ institution/ university to which the fellow belongs would continue to be applicable. No liability on any of these accounts will be borne by IUSSTF.

The candidate selected for the award of the Indo-US fellowship should commence their research with six month period from the date of award announcement.

Minimum Qualification / Eligibility:
A. MTech Programme (common to all P.G. Programmes): Full time - Two years (Four Semesters)
Admission to a MTech Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying Examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% of marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates.

B. MTech (Research) Programme: (common to all P.G. Programmes): Full time - Two years (Four Semesters)
A pass in the prescribed qualifying examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 OR not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public / university examination conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme) For SC/ST minimum CGPA of 5.5 OR 55% marks in the aggregate. Valid GATE score is essential for scholarship seats

C. MCA Programme : Full time Three-year (Six Semester) course
1. Candidates securing 60% marks or 6.5/10 CGPA (55% or 6.0/10 CGPA for SC/ST) in each of the examination of
(i) 12th level with Mathematics and
(ii) Bachelor’s Degree of full time 3 year duration from a recognised University with any one of the following as one of the subjects.

However, this prescribed minimum marks shall be 50% (CGPA of at least 5.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in the case of SC/ST.
2. CAT - 2010 Score
Admission is based on the Rank/Scores obtained in the CAT - 2010 and Group discussion and Interview.

E. MSc Programme : Full time Two years (Four semesters) course:
Eligibility for admission to MSc Programme in:
i. M. Sc in Chemistry: A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry with 60% (or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) of the aggregate in all the years of course of study and with 55% (CGPA of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in respect of SC/ST candidates.
ii. M. Sc. in Physics: A Bachelor’s Degree in the subject with 60% (or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 in the 0-10 scale grading system) of the aggregate in all the years of course of study and with 55% (CGPA of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system) in respect of SC/ST candidates.

F. PhD Programme
i) Admission to a PhD Programme shall be open to candidates who have passed the prescribed qualifying examination with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 5.5 in the 0-10 scale grading system, or not less than 55% marks in the aggregate (taking into account the marks scored in all the subjects of all the public/university examinations conducted during the entire prescribed period for the degree programme). However, this prescribed minimum shall be a CGPA of 5.0 or 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST candidates. The prescribed qualifying examination is as follows:
a. For PhD in Engineering/Technology - Master’s degree in relevant field.
b. For PhD in Science /Humanities, Social Sciences & Management - Master’s degree in relevant field.

ii) Employed professionals having experience and proven competence aspiring for PhD Programme will be considered under part-time scheme (External Registration) and will be allowed to pursue their research at their own location of work.

B. Pharm admissions 2011 (Private Self Financing Pharmacy Colleges)

The Kerala State Self- Financing B.Pharm College Managements Association (KSSBCMA) has invited applications for admission to the B.Pharm Degree course under the various Private Self Financing Pharmacy Colleges under the Association.


This selection is for the seats in the Member colleges except for NRI seats and seats that may be set apart for allotment by the state, by individual college. Applicants must be citizens of India and should have completed 17 years of age on 31.12.2011.

Applicant should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Government of Kerala or any other course treated as equivalent thereto with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects and Biology/Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science as optional subjects and should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks for the optional subjects and 50% marks aggregate for all the 3 subjects put together.

Those who have passed their qualifying examination from outside Kerala have to produce the certificate of recognition and equivalency of qualifying examination from any one of the universities in Kerala, at the time of admission. Eligibility for admission to the candidates belonging to OBC/OEC/SC/ST will be as per the requirements of the concerned Universities.

A candidate need buy only one application form and he can submit his/her preferential options in the format provided. Admissions will be done on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the qualifying examination in the relevant subjects, equated with the marks obtained by the candidates in the same subjects in the qualifying examination conducted by the Director of HSE, Kerala. Admission Process & Cut-offs
Admissions for FOSTIIMA's two years full time PGPM Program (commencing in the month of July every year) are carried out through a structured process which takes into account the applicant's academic performance in graduation and school level, CAT / XAT / MAT Score and performance in Group Discussion and Personal Interview. Whereas the short-listing and selection is a weighted average of the applicant's overall performance, cut-off levels for 2010 admission calls are likely to be 50% marks in graduation and a CAT or XAT score of 80 percentile.

Selection Procedure :
The selection procedure at FOSTIIMA is highly structured and objective. It is geared towards assessing the applicants on requisite attitude, drive and learning abilities.

For the two year full-time PG program, the applicants are shortlisted on the basis of their previous academic performance and MBA entrance test results, who then have to go through the process of group discussion and personal interview.

Selection for the UG program is based on Class XII marks and performance in the personal interview.
