Walk in for Ph.D Admissions 2011-2012
Director, Institute of Microbial Technology (IMTECH), has invited exceptionally motivated candidates to appear for a walk-in interview on July 6, 2011, (Reporting time 9.00 a.m. to 12 noon) for pursuing doctoral research at IMTECH under the aegis of the Ph.D. degree program being jointly run by IMTECH and the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
Areas of Research:
(a) Molecular Biology: Molecular biology of pathogens, gene silencing, stress tolerance, signal transduction, gene expression, genome-wide analysis
(b) Cell Biology & Immunology: Host- pathogen interactions, TB vaccine development, T- and B-cell activation, infectious agents & vaccine targets, protein trafficking
(c) Protein Science & Engineering: Structure-function relationships, design, folding, engineering, stability, expression, structural analysis and modeling, crystallization, structure determination of proteins and structure- based drug designing etc.
(d) Applied & Environmental Microbiology: Microbial diversity, environmental biotechnology, biotransformations, extremophiles and their metabolites
(e) Bioinformatics: Computer-aided vaccine and drug development, genome annotations, protein structure prediction, molecular simulations
(f) Bioorganic Chemistry: Enzymes and abzymes in organic synthesis, biocatalysis and bioactive molecules
(g) Peptide Chemistry: Peptide synthesis, conformational characterization and modelling
(h) Biochemical Engineering: Fermentation & downstream processing, process development and optimization, bioreactor modelling and control.
The candidates who have passed M. Sc and cleared any of the following examination are eligible to attend the interview:
(a) CSIR-UGC NET (NET-LS not eligible)
(b) DBT-JRF examination (‘A’ Category only)
(c) DST INSPIRE Fellowship
(d) ICMR-JRF examination (those selected for working only in ICMR Projects are not eligible).
Eligibility and Selection:
Candidates with Master's Degree or equivalent in any branch of science (Physics, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Biotechnology, Pharmacy) or in chemical/biochemical engineering and have qualified for obtaining research fellowship after passing CSIR/UGC NET or DBT JRF examination (‘A’ Category) or DST INSPIRE Fellowship or ICMR JRF examination are eligible to be interviewed.
Age limit: 28 years (age relaxation is applicable to SC/ST and OBC candidates as per Govt. of India rules).
