A common qualifying test for admissions to the Ph.D. Programmes in Physics in the below listed research institutions in India and Theoretical Computer Science in some of them. Qualifying in JEST does not entitle an applicant to get a Research Fellowship. Using the JEST results, each institute will call a limited number of candidates for its further selection procedure depending on its requirements. Minimum Qualifications and Selection Procedures

Ph.D. Programme
Physics: M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines. Candidates with M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics will also be considered at IIA. Graduates with a B.E. or B.Tech. will also be considered at IISc, IMSc, IUCAA, JNCASR, NCRA-TIFR, RRI, IISER Mohali, IISER Pune, SNBNCBS and NISER.

BE/BTech/BCA/BSc students can also apply for the integrated MSc-PhD programme, see below. In addition, talented final year B.Sc. and first year M.Sc. (in Physics / Electronics / Astronomy / Applied Mathematics) students may also apply to be pre-selected for research scholarship at IUCAA. Similar pre-selection is open at SNBNCBS for candidates who also have specialization in Bio-Physics, Optics and Opto-Electronics. Integrated M.Sc./M.Tech. – Ph.D. Programme
At HRI, IISER Pune, NCRA-TIFR and SNBNCBS, candidates with a Bachelor’s degree will also be considered for the integrated M.Sc. – Ph.D. programme in Physics. At IMSc, graduates with B.Sc. / B.E. / B. Tech. degree will also be considered for admission to M.Sc. (Research) programme in Physics and Theoretical Computer Science, as part of an integrated Ph.D. programme. At SNBNCBS, graduates with B.Sc.(Physics/Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. degree will be considered for the integrated Post-B.Sc.-Ph.D. programme in subject areas mentioned above. At IIA, graduates with B.Sc. (Physics / Mathematics) / B.E. / B.Tech. in Electrical / Instrumentation / Engineering Physics / Electronics and Communications / Computer Science and Engineering / Optics and Photonics will be considered.


Integrated M.Tech– Ph.D. Programme at IIA : Graduates with M.Sc. (Physics / Applied Physics) / Post-B.Sc (Hons) B.Tech in Optics and Photonics, Radiophysics and Electronics / B.E. / B.Tech. degree in subjects mentioned above will be considered. Visit IIA website for details.

Candidates for Physics / Theoretical Computer Science can apply for JEST-2012 ON-LINE through http://www.jest.org.in . Although ON-LINE applications are preferred, for those who have difficulty in accessing internet, hard copy of the application form can be requested by writing to JEST-2012, Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore-560012. Email applications and photocopies of printed applications will not be accepted. Details regarding the ongoing programmes at different institutions are available at JEST-2012 website. Important change for JEST-2012: Application Fee of Rs. 100 (Rs. 50 for SC/ST) is payable.

JEST - 2012 (written test) will be held on Sunday, February 19, 2012, from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. Candidates seeking admission to any of the institutes for a Ph. D. National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT) is an autonomous body under Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, has invited applications for admission to the Three-Year (Six Semester) B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration Programme offered jointly by it and the Indira Gandhi National Open University, in Central Government Institute of Hotel Management, State Government Institute of Hotel Management and Private Institute of Hotel Management, for the year 2012-13

Eligibility: Applicant should have passed the 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent (listed below) with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination. Those appearing in 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear in JEE 2012 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2012.

Qualifying Examinations for Indian Students

(i) Plus two level examination in the 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education of any recognized Central/State Board, such as Central Board of Secondary Education and Council for Indian School Certificate Examination or State Boards of Secondary Education
(ii) Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/University
(iii) General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
(iv) High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University
(v) Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in a foreign country recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 pattern of Senior Secondary education
(vi) H.S.C. Vocational Examination
(vii) Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects including English as one of the Subjects.

Age: For those from General and OBC categories, the upper age limit is 22 years as on 01.07.2012. Candidates born on or after July 01, 1990 are eligible. In the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, upper age limit is 25 years as on 01.07.2012. That is SC/ST candidates born on or after July 01, 1987 are eligible. Upper age limit for Physically Challenged candidates shall be reckoned as per the category he/she belongs to.

Fitness: All qualified candidates will have to submit a physical fitness certificate at the time of admission from a Registered Medical Practitioner in the prescribed format given at Appendix -I of the Information Brochure.

Reservation: Seats are reserved for SC and ST categories (15% and 7.5% respectively) in Central and State Government Institutes of Hotel Management. 27% seats are reserved for candidates belonging to OBC (Non creamy layer) category in Central Institutes of Hotel Management. Those belonging to the creamy layer of OBC are NOT entitled for reservation. 3% of seats in every category are reserved for Physically Disabled candidates in all Central & State Government Institutes of Hotel Management. Entrance Examination: The Examination will have objective type questions from 5 areas- (i) Numerical Ability and Scientific Aptitude (30 Questions) (ii) Reasoning and Logical Deduction (30) (iii) General Knowledge & Current Affairs (30) (iv) English Language (60) and (v) Aptitude for Service Sector (50). Question Paper will be bilingual i.e. in English and Hindi (except for English Language component). Each correct answer under Numerical Ability & Scientific Aptitude, Reasoning & Logical Deduction, General Knowledge & Current Affairs and English Language component carry one mark. For any wrong answer 0.25 marks will be deducted. Graded mark(s) will be awarded under Aptitude for Service Sector component i.e. 0.25, 0.5, 0.75 & 1.00. The most appropriate answer carries one mark.

Merit list: All India merit list of candidates shall be prepared on the basis of marks secured in the JEE Written Test. In case candidates secure equal marks, the candidate securing higher marks in English component of JEE will be ranked higher. In case of candidates securing equal marks in JEE, as well as in English component of JEE, then the candidate securing higher marks in Service Aptitude Component of JEE shall rank higher. In case of tie even after these two stages, the candidate older in age will be ranked higher.

Admit Card: Admit Cards will be available at the website from 2 pm on 19th April 2012. Result of JEE will be put on website in the 2nd week of May, 2012. Counselling will be conducted in the 1st week of June, 2012. Academic Session will commence on 1st August, 2012.

Admission to first year of B.Sc. Hospitality & Hotel Administration Programme will be strictly based on the All India Rank earned by the candidate. Ranks are strictly based on the marks obtained by the candidate in written examination. No group discussion or interviews are involved. Counselling involves checking of eligibility of candidates, verification of documents, depositing of counselling and other fee and opportunity for choice of Institutes as available at the time of his/her ranking. Candidates should give as many choices after careful evaluation of Institutes based on information available in their respective websites. Allotment of Institute shall be as per merit and choice of Institute exercised by the candidate.

All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, has invited applications for All India Post Graduate Entrance Examination (AIPGMEE-2012), for admission under the 50% seats quota for MD/MS/Diploma and MDS Courses In Medical and Dental colleges in the country run by the Union of India, State Governments (except Government of Andhra Pradesh and J&K) and Municipal or other local authorities.

The All India Post Graduate Medical/Dental Entrance Examination will be conducted by All India Institute of Medical Sciences on 8th January, 2012 (Sunday) from 10 am to 1.30 pm, at Ahmedabad (Code 01), Bangaluru (02), Bhopal (03), Bhubaneshwar (04), Chandigarh (05), Chennai (06), Delhi (07), Goa (08), Guwahati (09), Jodhpur (10), Kolkata (11), Mumbai (12), Noida (13), Ranchi (14) and Thiruvananthapuram (15).

Eligibility: Applicant must be an Indian National and should hold an M.B.B.S Degree from a recognized Medical college (See Appendix-III of the Prospectus that is available at http://www.aiimsexams.org/#) or a foreign Medical Degree included in the Schedules to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and should have obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India or any of the State Medical Councils after completing Compulsory Rotating Internship.

Those who have obtained their MBBS Degree from the Medical Colleges which are not recognized by Medical Council of India are not eligible. However, those after passing the final qualifying examination (MBBS or the foreign medical Degree recognized by MCI), undergoing 12-month compulsory rotating internship/practical training and who are likely to complete the same by 31st March, 2012 can take up this examination, subject to completing the compulsory rotating internship and obtaining full registration on or before 31st March, 2012. Candidate shall produce a certificate from the Head of Institution that he/she will be completing internship by 31st March, 2012.

Candidates who have obtained MBBS/BDS from Medical/Dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are not eligible to apply. However, candidates who were nominated by the Government of India (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare/D.G.H.S., New Delhi) to do MBBS/BDS from Medical/Dental Colleges in Andhra Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir are eligible to apply subject to submission of requisite documents specified in the Prospectus. Application Fee: The cost of online Application-cum-Examination fee is Rs.1000/- For SC/ST candidates, the fee is Rs.800/-

Submission of Application: A candidate can submit application only On-Line at http://www.aiimsexams.org/ latest by 5 pm on 21.12.2011. After selecting the online registration, the details asked have to be filled in step by step.




Applicants can pay the application fee through a challan form that can be downloaded from website, while applying on-line. The fee can be remitted in any branch of State Bank of India. Transaction Processing Fee (as applicable) will be payable to the Bank by the candidate. Candidates are required to bring AIIMS copy of Challan Form to the Examination Hall on the day of Examination and Deposit the same with Invigilator at the time of attendance. Candidates are not required to send any documents, including Registration slip to AIIMS. No candidates should register more than one application.

Acknowledgement of successful Online Registration will be forwarded to applicants through SMS. Applicants may check position regarding status of Application form on the website http://www.aiimsexams.org/ .

Admit Card: The status of Admit Card will be available at http://www.aiims.ac.in/ and http://www.aiims.edu/ as well as http://www.aiimsexams.org/ after 28.12.2011. If the status of a candidate’s Admit Card is not available on website, he/she should immediately write to the Assistant Controller of Examinations, AIIMS, New Delhi-110608 along with full particulars of the Registration of application form.

Reporting for Examination: Candidates should report at the allotted centre of examination at 8.30 am on the day of examination. No. candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall after 9.55 am. Candidates should not bring their own Pens to the Examination Centre. It will be provided to the candidates by the Institute, before the commencement of the examination.

No candidate should carry any textual material, printed or written, bits of papers or any other material except the Admit Card (without envelope) inside the hall. If a candidate is found to be copying/ conversing with other candidates/to have in his/her possession papers, notes or books, he/she shall be disqualified from taking this Examination and the next one or two such Examinations according to the nature of offence and its intimation will be sent to the M.C.I./D.C.I./State M.C. /D.C. and the concerned Medical/Dental College for necessary action.

Examination: There will be one paper in English medium only, of 3½ hours duration having 300 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), consisting of Pre-Clinical, Para-Clinical and Clinical subjects.

The tentative number of questions from each subject will be: Anatomy (15), Physiology (15), Biochemistry (15), Pharmacology (20), Pathology (25), Microbiology (20), Forensic Medicine (10) Social and Preventive Medicine (25), Medicine Dermatology and Venerelogy (37), Surgery, ENT, Orthopedics & Anesthesia (46), Pediatrics (15), Obstetrics and Gynecology (20), Radiodiagonosis and Radiotherapy (12), Biophysics (5), Ophthalmology (10), Psychiatry (10).

The questions will be single response objective type. Each answer with correct response will fetch 4 marks. One mark will be deducted for each wrong response. No mark will be given for the questions not answered. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect response and will be negatively marked. In case two or more candidates obtain equal marks in the competitive entrance examination, Candidate scoring less negative marks will be placed higher in rank and then if the tie continues, the older will get preference over younger.

Result: The result of successful candidates with their rank numbers is expected to be declared by the 15th February, 2012 and will be displayed on the notice board of Examination Section, AIIMS. It will be available at http://www.aiimsexams.org/ . It will also be published in prominent newspapers of the country. Those who figure in the merit are required to download the Rank Letter from http://www.aiimsexams.org/ as the rank letter will not be sent through postal service. A downloadable Rank Letter will be hosted on website http://www.aiimsexaminations.org/ only two days before the commencement of counseling. It will be the responsibility of candidate to download the rank letter before the counseling.

The Institute will not intimate the individual unsuccessful candidates regarding the result of entrance test and no correspondence on this subject will be entertained. However, the marks of individual candidate will be available on AIIMS website on completion of the admission process. There is no provision for rechecking/re-evaluation of the answer sheets and no query in this regard will be entertained.

Candidates securing less than 50% marks (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% in case of PH candidates) in the Entrance Examination will not be considered for admission and their names will not be included in the merit list. A waiting list containing 40 percent of the merit list will also be declared from amongst the successful candidates who have secured not less than 50 percent marks in the competitive examination (40% in case of SC/ST/OBC and 45% in case of PH candidates). There is 15% reservation for SC candidates and 7.5% for ST candidates in 50% All India PG Quota Seats.

Seat Allotment: The allotment of seats will be made through personal appearance as per 3200 Point Reservation Roster. Candidates will be called in batches in the order of merit as per Time Schedule for 1st Round of Counseling to be hosted at http://www.mohfw.nic.in/ after declaration of the result. The 'Time Schedule' for 2nd Round of counseling will be also hosted later on at the said website after completion of 1st Round of Counseling. The counseling shall only be done according to the Category Rank (UR/SC/ST/PH) and not by the Overall Rank. No separate intimation regarding counseling (allotment by personal appearance) will be sent. Successful candidates are directed to be in touch with the websites of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and All India Institutes of Medical Sciences till the date of completion of the admission process for PG Courses, fixed by the 'Medical Council of India'. More details are given in the Prospectus.

Those appearing for allotment by personal appearance should bring the following documents in original along with an attested copy of the documents:
(i) Admit Card issued by AIIMS
(ii) Rank letter issued by AIIMS.
(iii) Mark Sheets of MBBS/BDS 1st, 2nd and 3rd Professional Examinations.
(iv) MBBS/BDS Degree Certificate.
(v) Internship Completion Certificate/Certificate from the Head of Institution or College that the candidate will be completing the Internship by 31st March, 2012.
(vi) Permanent/Provisional Registration Certificate issued by MCI or DCI/State Medical or Dental Council.
(vii) High School/Higher Secondary Certificate/Birth Certificate in proof of date or birth.
(viii) Candidate should also bring the following certificate, if applicable :
a. SC/ST Certificate issued by the competent authority and should be in English or Hindi in language. Sub caste should be clearly mentioned in the certificate.
b. OBC certificate issued by the competent authority. The sub-caste should tally with the Central List of OBC. The OBC candidates should not belong to Creamy Layer. The OBC certificate must be in the format as mentioned in Appendix V.
c. Orthopedic Physical Disability Certificate issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Boards.

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE-2012 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2012, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:

The final examination of the 10+2 system of Higher Secondary Examination conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi); The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE, New Delhi).
Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University.
High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva.
General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London / Cambridge / Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) Level.
Candidates who have studied in Regular, Full time and Formal Education are alone eligible to apply.

Candidates appearing for the VITEEE in 2012 should have secured an aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics / Biology in the qualifying examination (+2 / Intermediate). The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics Or Biology ( PCM / PCB) in +2 (or its equivalent) put together should be 50% for the following categories:
Candidates belong to SC / ST category Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir and the North Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura.


Candidates who have attempted Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the VITEEE are eligible for all the 13 BTech Degree Programmes. Candidates who have attempted Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the VITEEE are eligible only for BTech Bioinformatics, Bio-Medical Engineering and Biotechnology programmes.

FMGE SCREENING TEST-MARCH-2012


The FMGE-Screening Test has been introduced by the Screening Test Regulations 2002. As per the regulations, “An Indian citizen possessing a primary medical qualification awarded by any medical institution outside India who is desirous of getting provisional or permanent registration with the Medical Council of India or any State Medical Council on or after 15.03.2002 shall have to qualify a screening test conducted by the prescribed authority for that purpose as per the provisions of section 13 of the Act.”

The next session of the FMG Exam shall be conducted by the National Board of Examinations on Sunday the 25th March, 2012 at New Delhi.


The Examination is held twice a year at New Delhi.
The test is conducted in English language.
The exam consists of one paper.
There will be 300 multiple-choice questions (MCQ) of single response type in the paper.
There is NO negative marking.
An applicant shall be declared as having passed only if he/she obtains a minimum of 50% of marks in the examination.
Results (Pass/Fail) for eligible candidates will be displayed at the website and office of NBE. Marks obtained shall be declared for all the candidates and also displayed at the website www.natboard.edu.in.
The applicants who qualify the Screening Test may apply to the Medical Council of India, New Delhi or to any State Medical Council for provisional registration / permanent registration.
There are no restrictions on number of attempts that can be availed by an applicant.

JEST

The Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is a common qualifying test for admissions to Ph.D. programmes in Physics at premier Indian research institutions (see Participating Institutes) and a Ph.D. programme in Theoretical Computer Science at the Institute of Mathematical Sciences.

Using JEST results, each institute will call a limited number of candidates for its own selection procedure depending, on its requirements. All selected candidates will receive Research Fellowships from the respective institutes. The JEST exam is used to shortlist candidates and does not automatically entitle an applicant to get a Research Fellowship.

Physics:

M.Sc. in Physics or M.Sc. / M.E. / M.Tech. in related disciplines.
M.Sc. in Mathematics / Applied Physics / Applied Mathematics / Optics and Photonics / Instrumentation / Electronics will also be considered at IIA.

To apply online, applicants must create an account using a valid e-mail ID. This account will remain valid from the time of account creation till one month after the date of declaration of results, for that year. For the third consecutive year, Educational Testing Service (ETS) had announced the launch of the TOEFL Scholarship Program in India. Created specifically for Indian students, the 2012 TOEFL Scholarship Program will award 10 scholarships valued at approximately US $ 70,000, an increase of US $ 10,000 in award funding from 2011.


Scholarship funding can be applied to either undergraduate or graduate study for the 2012 academic year. Ten scholarships will honor Indian students demonstrating academic success including: Four US $ 10,000 scholarships for study at a college or university located in Australia, Canada, U.K., and/or the United States and listed in the TOEFL destinations directory. Six US $ 5,000 scholarships for study at any college or university listed in the TOEFL destinations directory.

Minimum Admission Requirement:

PhD in Dairy Technology:
Minimum Admission Requirement:
A good academic record with OGPA 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 60% marks under marks system of examination in MTech (Dairy Technology), MTech (Dairy Engineering), MSc / MTech Dairying (Dairy Technology/ Engineering), MTech (Dairy Engineering), MSc / MTech Dairying (Dairy Technology / Enginering), MSc (Food Science) / MSc Food Technology, MSc (Food Science & Technology), MSc / MSc Agril. (Dairy Science), MTech (Agricultural Engineering) in Agricultural Process Engineering, MSc (Dairy Science) / MSc Agril. (AH&D) with specialization in Dary Science, MVSc, MSc Biotechnology / Animal Biotechnology with specialization in Dairy Food Processing.

Faculty of Veterinary Sciences
MVSc Programme in the following disciplines:
Veterinary Anatomy and Histology, Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Biochemistry, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pharmacology & Toxicology, Veterinary Parasitology, Veterinary Pathology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding & Genetics, Live Stock Production & Management, Animal Reproduction Gynaecology & Obstetrics, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Ethics & Jurisprudence, Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.
Minimum Admission Requirement for MVSc:
BVSc & AH degree under 10+2+5 system from a recognized University & good academic record with 6.00 OGPA in 10 point scale or 60% in marks system of examination or equivalent grade.

PhD Programme in following disciplines:
Veterinary Physiology, Veterinary Microbiology, Veterinary Pathology, Veterinary Parasitology, Animal Nutrition, Animal Breeding & Genetics, Livestock Production & Management, Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, Veterinary Surgery & Radiology, Veterinary Clinical Medicine, Ethics & Jurisprudence, Veterinary Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine.
Minimum Admission Requirement for PhD:
MVSc & AH degree under 10+2+5 system from a recognized University with OGPA 3.00/4.00, 6.50/10.00 or 60% marks under marks system of examination in the relevant discipline at MVSc level with good academic record.

How to Apply:
The prescribed application forms can be obtained from the office of the Registrar, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Krishak Nagar, Raipur (C.G.) 492012, on payment of Rs. 150/- (Rs. 40/- in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates of C.G. State) for Master’s degree programme and Rs. 200/- (Rs. 50/- in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidate of C.G. State) for PhD. The SC / ST candidates of C.G can obtain application forms on prescribed fee only by sending attested copy of the caste certificate issued by the competent Authority.

The application fee must be send in shape of crossed Demand Draft in favour of 'Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Raipur (C.G.)' payable at Raipur along with self-addressed 12 cm x 21 cm envelope affixed with postal stamps of Rs. 20/-. The application forms can also be downloaded from the website: www.igau.edu.in and send to the Registrar, IGKV, Raipur 492 012 along with prescribed fee as the case may be.

Application form duly completed in all respect should reach to The Registrar, Indira Gandhi Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Krishak Nagar, Raipur 492 012 (C.G.) either by post or in person on or before the last date mentioned under.
