The Unified Council, Hyderabad, is inviting applications for National Level Science Talent Search Examination (NSTSE), 2018 from students who wish to assess their strengths, Weaknesses and nourish their minds for a bright and enterprising future.

Gold Medals & Cash Awards (or) Scholarships for the first 3 in each class (ranks 1 to 3)


a) NSTSE topper will be awarded with Rs 2,00,000/- cash prize. The student who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes is declared as NSTSE Topper.


b) The top three rankers of each class are awarded a Tablet PC + a Memento + a Medal, each


c) Rankers 4 to 25 of each class are awarded a cash prize of Rs.1000 each


d) Rankers 26 to 100 of each class are each awarded Talent & Olympiad Exams Resource Book from M/s. Brain Mapping Academy


*NSTSE Topper:
A student of any class who achieves 100% marks is awarded a prize of Rs.2,00,000. If no student achieves the same, then the student who achieves the highest percentage of marks among all the classes, is awarded Rs.1,00,000


If more than one student achieve the same, the prize money is distributed equally among them. Each topper gets either this prize or the regular prize

NSTSE follows CBSE syllabus, Question Papers are also suitable for Students of ICSE/ISC and Various State Board/Matriculation Syllabi


Selection Process for NSTSE 2018
The Selection would be based on the written examination. The exam would test the Science and Mathematics ability of the students.


The Exam would be conducted on 04th February 2018 (Sunday). NSTSE result 2018 would be available on the NSTSE website.


Exam Pattern for NSTSE 2018
There will be a separate question paper for each class and the exam would be in English language. There will be objective type questions of one mark each and no negative marking for wrong answers. NSTSE exam will be of 90 minutes.

NSTSE is based on the CBSE syllabus and 85% of the syllabus is considered for setting the NSTSE Question Paper


NSTSE question papers are suitable also for students following ICSE/ISC and various other State Board syllabi

Why UIEO?
English is the language most widely used for communication and the first global lingua franca. In the modern era, English happens to be the most popular and the most spoken language.
Children who know English not only excel in exams but are known to do well in practically every aspect of their dealings.

Assessment of one’s language skills is the key to identifying and measuring one’s “educational achievement”. People’s lives around the world are shaped by the outcomes of such assessments, which they receive as part of their education process.

Assessment is used at all the times in every field, for taking decisions. However, the holistic assessment we offer is extremely useful as it helps shape the future of an individual and plays a critical role in the process of laying foundation for his/her career.

Hence UIEO’s effort is to present its students with an all-encompassing assessment that will place them at the threshold of easier learning and mastering the language of the world, in the easiest and the quickest way.

Eligibility:

Student of classes 2, 3,4,5,6,7,8,9 & 10 are eligible to participate in this examination.

There will be a different question paper for each class. All the questions are objective-type with no negative marking for wrong answers.

Interpreting Results:

Ranking: When more than one student gets an equal top score, priority for awarding ranks will be according to the marks acquired in the specified order of sections in the question paper.

The list of 54 examination Centres is given in the Prospectus. Eligibility : Applicant should hold a Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological Agricultural Veterinary and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years B.Sc. (Physician Assistant Course) or Medicine (MBBS) or B.D.S. with at least 55% marks. SC/ST /PWD applicants need only a pass in the qualifying examination.

Those who are due to appear in the respective qualifying examination prescribed as eligibility for admission shall also be considered for appearing in the entrance examination. Such applicants will be allowed to appear in the entrance examination subject to their securing the minimum prescribed percentage of marks in their qualifying degree examination and submission of all the documents including final mark-sheet of the qualifying examination (indicating the final and overall percentage of marks) before the deadline for admission fixed by the concerned participating University.
Entrance Examination: The Entrance Examination to be held on 30th December, 2017 from will be of three hours duration (9 am to 12 noon). The Question paper will be divided into two parts. Part-A will have 60 multiple choice type questions at the level of 10+2 from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Biology, each carrying one mark (maximum 60 marks). For each wrong answer, Vi (half) mark will be deducted. Part-B will also have 60 multiple-choice questions of Bachelor's level requiring thinking and analysis, from Physics, Mathematics, Biology (e.g., Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Genetics and Molecular Biology) and Chemistry each carrying 3 marks (maximum 180 marks). For each wrong answer one mark will be deducted. A set of question papers pertaining to the last three years are available on JNU website: www.jnu.ac.in

Application: Applications for the Entrance Examination can be submitted online, till 11.59 p.m on 13th October, 2017, at https://admissions.jnu.ac.in/Redirectgodsahg.aspx

Entrance Examination Fee: The entrance examination fee is Rs. 1000/- for General/OBC category and Rs. 500/- for SC/ST and Person with Disability categories. The entrance examination fee for Foreign Nationals is US$ 40.00 or Rs. 2640/-. Applicable GST will have to be paid by all.

Applicant should fill his/her correct basic and academic details like Name, DOB, Address, Contact No., and Discipline / programme of study. No request for change shall be considered subsequently, under any circumstances. Applicant should remember the password and the same should not be shared with others. Before final submission of online Application form, applicant should read the declaration carefully and give consent on it. Applicant is required to upload a recently taken scanned photograph (preferably taken on or after 1.1.2017, with preferable width 150px and height 200px and size between 20-50 KB} and signature in JPG format (size between 10-20 KB and preferable width 140px and height 60px). The maximum file size for Photo and Signature should be 50 KB, failing which, applicant will not be able to complete the application.

Admit Card: Candidates can download their Admit Card from www.jnu.ac.in  around 10th December 2017, which should be carried to the Examination Centre with a copy of latest passport size photograph. Those candidates who have applied and fulfill the prescribed eligibility conditions but who are not able to download the Admit Card should contact either the JNU Representative (who will be available at the Examination Centre at least a day in advance) or the Presiding Officer/Principal of the Centre to sort out the problems.

Result: Result is likely to be made available on the website www.jnu.ac.in, in the first/second week of February (Tentative).
10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri migrant candidate in the Entrance Examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing valid registration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate's Kashmiri migrant status.

Selection Procedure: After the merit list is drawn, more than double the number of candidates than the total intake only will be informed of their merit rank in the entrance examination. The candidates will also be informed about the total number of seats in each participating University. The candidates will be asked to exercise their options through online mode for joining the Universities. The candidates will be asked to pay through online mode Rs.5,000/- (Rs.2,5007- in the case of SC, ST PWD candidates) as initial security deposit giving their willingness to be considered for admission to the participating Universities in accordance with their options for joining the universities and their inter-se merit in the Entrance Examination.

Merit list of candidates to exercise their option for Universities 1st/2nd week of February, 2018. Selection will be on the basis of inter- se merit of the candidate in the Entrance Examination and preferences for joining the Universities indicated by the candidate. In case a candidate has not indicated his/her choice for joining a particular University, his/her name will not be considered for that University. The candidates who do not exercise their options for joining any of the participating universities will not be considered for admission to that university/universities. Candidates should check the allotment of university at www.inu.ac.in . in  the first/second week of March (tentative).

After allotment of seats, JNU will send intimation to the candidates about their allotment of the university and also to the concerned participating university to which the candidate has been selected. Once an allotment of University is made on the basis of inter-se merit and options, other options of the Universities given by the candidate shall stand frozen. The participating university will then inform the candidate about the complete admission procedure and schedule of their university as well as the amount of fee etc. to be deposited by the candidate. The initial security deposit already sent by the candidate through demand draft to JNU will be sent to the concerned University for refund after first semester.

In case the candidate is offered admission, but subsequently either does not join the concerned University or withdraw after joining during the first semester, the initial deposit of Rs. 5,000/- and Rs.2,500/- for General/OBC and SC/ST/PWD categories respectively, shall stand forfeited.

The initial security deposit of Rs.5000/-, (Rs.2,5007- in the case of SC/ST, PWD category candidates) will be refunded in full to those who are not offered admission to any of the participating university. Reservation/Concession: 15%, 71/z% and 5% of seats shall be reserved for SC, ST and Person with Disability (PWD) candidates respectively. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University.

Scholarships: Those selected for admission to M.Sc. Biotechnology Programme of the participating Universities will be eligible to receive scholarship at the rate of Rs.3000/- p.m. The scholarship of Rs. 3000/- p.m. for students joining M.Sc. Biotechnology programme at the School of Biotechnology of JNU would be awarded to all the students during first semester In the subsequent semesters, the scholarship will be extended only in respect of those students who secure minimum CGPA of 6.00 in the end-semester examinations.

All selected students will be paid Rs. 5000/- studentship under DBT Support.

Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary area on the educational scene and programmes have been developed to meet the growing demand for trained manpower for any meaningful Biotechnology activity in the country. The programmes are designed to expose the students to recent exciting developments in the area of genetic engineering and biotechnology and their exploitation in industry, agriculture and medicine.
