Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE),
Kerala has notified the admission to the Medical, Agriculture, Veterinary,
Fisheries, Engineering and Architecture courses for 2014.
The Courses include MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BSMS,
BSc (Hons) Agriculture, BSc (Hons) Forestry, BVSc & AH, BFSc, all under the
Medical and Allied Stream, B.Tech, including B.Tech (Agri. Engg), B.Tech (Food
Engg) Courses under the Kerala Agricultural University and B.Tech (Dairy
Science & Tech) under the Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences
University under the Engineering Stream and B.Arch under the Architecture
stream.
Admissions to the Medical and Engineering streams
will be based on the Entrance Examinations of the concerned streams and as per
the provisions for the preparation of the rank lists.
The CEE will not conduct any Entrance Examination
for admission to B.Arch. course. However, candidates seeking admission to
B.Arch. course should apply as per this notification and compulsorily appear
and qualify the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the
National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA) before
31.05.2014.
Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian citizen.
Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card Holders
will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of
admission.
Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply
for the Entrance Examinations.
Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as
‘Keralites’. In order to prove that a candidate is an Indian Citizen of Kerala
origin for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, he/she has to
produce a certificate showing that he/she or his/her father or mother was born
in Kerala. Children of All India Service (AIS) Officers (Non-Keralites)
allotted to Kerala Cadre are deemed to be ‘Keralites’ without eligibility for
communal/Special/Persons with Disabilities reservation. Those who are not of
Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’. Non-Keralites are
classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non- Keralite Category II’.
An applicant who is not of Kerala origin but who
has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of
Non-Keralite parents belong to Government of India/Defence Service, posted to
Kerala or has undergone qualifying course in Kerala and who is son/daughter of
Non-Keralite parents who are serving/served Government of Kerala for a minimum
period of two years or has been a resident of Kerala State for a period of
5(five) years within the period of 12(twelve) years of his/her study or has
undergone his/her school studies in Kerala from standard VIII to XII will be
categorized as 'Non-Keralite Category I'(NK I).
Non-Keralite Category I candidates will be
considered against ‘State Merit’ seats for Engineering/Medical & Allied
courses and will not be eligible for Communal/ Special/Persons with
Disabilities reservation.
Those not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite
Category-I’ will be treated as ‘Non-Keralite Category-II' who will have
eligibility for admission only to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Private
Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota
seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions under Government control.
Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved
seats.
Academic Qualification:
Medical: For admission to the MBBS, BDS, BSMS
courses, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board
of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent
thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology separately, and 50% marks in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together. In the absence of
Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject for academic
eligibility.
For admission to BAMS/ BHMS courses, applicant
should have passed Higher Secondary examination of the Board of Higher
Secondary Education, Kerala, or examinations recognized equivalent thereto, with
50% marks in Biology separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Biology put together.
For admission to B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons)
Forestry, BFSc courses, applicant should have passed Higher Secondary
examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations
recognised equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology separately, and 50%
marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together.
For admission to BVSc. & AH Course, applicant
should have secured not less than 50% aggregate marks in English, Physics,
Chemistry and Biology for the qualifying examination, in addition to the
conditions for admission to B.Sc.(Hons.)Agri., B.Sc.(Hons) Forestry, BFSc
courses with the permitted relaxations.
Those who have passed the BSc Degree (3 year
course) examination with Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany or Biotechnology
as Main, and any one or two of the above subjects as Subsidiaries, with 50%
marks for Main & Subsidiaries taken together, subject to the condition that
they have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations
recognised as equivalent thereto with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as
optional subjects are eligible for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS and BSMS
courses.
Engineering: Applicant should have passed Higher
Secondary Examination, Kerala, or Examinations recognized as equivalent
thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50 % marks in
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together. However, those who have
obtained 45% marks in Mathematics separately with 60% aggregate marks in
Physics and Chemistry put together are also eligible for admission. In case,
the candidate has not studied Chemistry, the marks obtained in Computer Science
shall be considered. In case, the candidate has not studied Chemistry and
Computer Science, the marks obtained in Biotechnology shall be considered. In case,
the candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology,
the marks obtained in Biology shall be considered. The marks as shown in the
mark list of the Board of Examination obtained from the respective Higher
Secondary Board shall be considered for academic eligibility.
If Board Examinations are conducted in both years,
the total marks of two years in the respective subjects as shown in the mark
lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards will be considered for academic
eligibility. In case Board Examination is conducted only at the end of 12th
class (final year), the marks in the respective subjects as shown in the mark
lists of the respective Higher Secondary Boards will be considered for academic
eligibility. For all other type of Higher Secondary courses or examinations
recognized equivalent thereto, the marks of the respective subjects as shown in
the mark list of the respective Board of Examinations will be considered for
academic eligibility.
Those having Diploma in Engineering awarded by the
Board of Technical Examinations, or an examination recognized equivalent
thereto, by the State Board of Technical Education after undergoing an
institutional course of at least 3 years from an Institution approved by AICTE,
securing a minimum of 50% marks in the final year Diploma Examination are
eligible for admission to the special reservation quota (DE) seats only.
Those who have passed Higher Secondary Examination,
Kerala, or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50 % marks in
Mathematics/Biology separately, and 50 % marks in Physics, Chemistry and
Mathematics/Biology put together are eligible for admission to the seats
reserved for Dairy Farm Instructors of Dairy Development Department for B.Tech
(D.Sc. & Tech). However, if such applicants are admitted to the course,
they will have to take a make-up course in Basic Mathematics (2+0) credits or
Applied Biology (1+1) credit as the case may be.
Those with Diploma in Engineering are not eligible
for admission to the Engineering Colleges affiliated to Kerala Agricultural
University and Kerala Veterinary & Animal Sciences University. The
Vocational Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala, has been recognised as
equivalent to the Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala.
Architecture: Applicant should have passed the 10+2
or equivalent examination from a recognized Board with Mathematics as a subject
of study by securing 50% marks in aggregate or the 10+3 Diploma (any stream)
recognized by Central/State Governments with 50% aggregate marks or the
International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling, with not less
than 50% marks in aggregate and with Mathematics as compulsory subject of
examination.
In addition, applicant should score 40 % or 80
marks out of 200 (for all categories of candidates) in the National Aptitude
Test in Architecture (NATA) before 31.05.2014, to be considered for admission
to B.Arch. course.
Those who have a Diploma in Engineering awarded by
the Board of Technical Examinations or an examination recognized equivalent
thereto, by the State Board of Technical Education after undergoing an
institutional course of at least 3 years from an Institution approved by AICTE
securing a minimum of 50% marks in the final year Diploma Examination are
eligible for admission to B.Arch. Course.
Relaxation of marks in the Qualifying Examination:
For all the courses, candidates belonging to Socially and Educationally
Backward Classes (SEBC) with a total annual family income not exceeding Rs.6
lakhs, will have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination. They
need only 45% marks in the case of Mathematics/Biology and 45% marks in the
case of Mathematics/ Biology, Physics and Chemistry put together.
The Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. However, for
admission to MBBS/BDS courses, candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need
40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology put together in the
qualifying examination. Candidates with Locomotory disability of lower limbs
between 40% to 70% need only 45% marks in case of Biology/Biotechnology and 45%
marks in case of optional subjects put together for admission to MBBS. When
only grades are given for qualifying examination and marks are not mentioned,
the grade covering 45% marks will be considered as criterion for eligibility.
For Engineering courses, Socially and Educationally
Backward Classes (SEBC) / Persons with Disabilities (PD) category candidates
who have obtained 40% marks in Mathematics separately with 55% aggregate marks
in Physics and Chemistry put together are also eligible for admission. The
relaxation of marks in the qualifying examination extended to SEBC candidates
only will be applicable to OEC candidates even if they are allotted against the
un-availed seats of SC/ST quota.
Age: Applicant should have completed 17 years of
age as on 31st December, 2014.
Dates of Examinations: The Engineering Entrance
Examination (For admission to engineering courses except Architecture) will be
held from 10 am to 12.30 noon (IST) on 21st and 22nd April, 2014. Paper-I
(Physics & Chemistry) will be held on 21st April (Monday) and Paper-II
(Mathematics), on 22nd April (Tuesday).
Paper-I, Chemistry & Physics of the Medical
Entrance Examination will be held from 10 am to 12.30 noon (IST) on 23.04.2014
(Wednesday) and Paper-II: Biology will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 24.04.2014
(Thursday).
The CEE will not conduct any Entrance Examination
for admission to B.Arch. course. However, they too have to submit the
application for admission as per this notification itself and should
compulsorily appear and qualify the National Aptitude Test in Architecture
(NATA) conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture
(NIASA) before 31.05.2014.
Applications: Submission of Application has to be
completed in two stages. The first stage is the online submission of application
at www.cee.kerala.gov.in and the second stage is the dispatch of the printout
of the application to the office of the CEE to reach there within the
stipulated time.
Application Fee: Application Fee is Rs.800/- for
General category and Rs. 400/- for SC/ST categories. Application fee can be
paid by cash or by Demand Draft.
Fee by Cash: Application fee can be paid by way of
cash at selected Post Offices in Kerala and outside the State between 10.1.2014
and 4.2.2014.
The List of Post Offices that will accept the fee
is give at
www.cee-kerala.org/docs/keam2014/exam/keam14application_enoti.pdf .On payment, the applicant will receive a
Security Card, Prospectus and an envelope from the Post office. The Security
card will have a ‘Key Number’ inside the Security panel. This will not be
visible before scratching the silver panel. There is a Serial Number on each
Security card. The Key number and Serial Number are unique and are required for
filling up of payment details in the online application.
Fee by DD: Application fee can also be paid by way
of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank, in favour of the
Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, payable at Thiruvananthapuram. In this
case, application can be filled directly and the printout submitted with the
DD.
Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates whose annual family
income is below Rs.40,000/- can have Security Card, Prospectus and Envelope
free of cost from the District Offices of the Scheduled Tribes Development
Department on production of Community Certificate and Income Certificate.
Centre fee for Dubai: Those who opt ‘DUBAI’ as
their centre for Entrance Examinations, should submit along with their print
out of the application, a Demand Draft for Rs.12,000/- drawn on a Nationalized
Bank in favour of the 'Commissioner for Entrance Examinations' payable at
Thiruvananthapuram. Those remitting application fee by way of DD and opting
Dubai as centre of examination should enclose Demand Drafts for Rs.800/- as
application fee and Rs.12,000/- as centre fee.
Last Date: The Print out of the Application and
other relevant documents, to be submitted with the Application, enclosed in the
printed envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance
Examinations supplied along with the application form, should reach the CEE
latest by 5 p.m. on 05.02.2014 (Wednesday), by Hand Delivery/Registered
Post/Speed Post. Completed Applications will be received in the Office of the
Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on holidays also.
Admit Card: Facility for downloading the Admit
Cards of Entrance Examinations will be activated at www.cee.kerala.gov.in on
24.03.2014. The printout of the admit card will have to be produced at the time
of examination. Admit Cards will not be sent by post.
Scheme of the Examination: The Entrance examination
for Medical and Engineering streams will be objective type with Multiple Choice
Questions and based on single response. Against each question, five suggested
answers would be given, from which the candidate will have to select and mark
the alphabet (A,B,C,D or E) corresponding to the ‘most appropriate response’ in
the OMR Answer Sheet.
Each Paper will have 120 questions to be answered
in 150 minutes. In Engineering Entrance Examination, Paper I will have 72
questions from Physics and 48 from Chemistry. Paper II will have 120 questions
from Mathematics. In Medical Entrance Examination, Paper I will have 72
questions from Chemistry and 48 from Physics. Paper II will have 120 questions
from Biology.
Syllabus: The detailed syllabus for the Entrance
Examination is available in the Prospectus.
Scoring: For each correct response the candidates
will be awarded 4 marks, and for each incorrect response, one mark will be
deducted from the total score.
Admission Criterion: Engineering: Admission to
Engineering courses will be based on the rank list prepared by giving equal
weightage for the marks in the Engineering Entrance Examination and the
grade/mark obtained in the final year of the qualifying examination for
Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/Biology after
effecting the standardization procedure prescribed in the Prospectus.
Medical: Admission to the Medical and allied
courses will be based on the rank in the Medical Entrance Examination to be
prepared on the basis of total marks in Paper I and Paper II of the Medical
Entrance Examination. Courses in the Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary stream
include (i) MBBS (ii) BDS (iii) BHMS (iv) BAMS (v) BSMS (vi) BSc. Hons.
(Agriculture) (vii) BFSc. (Fisheries) (viii) BSc. Hons. (Forestry) and (ix)
BVSc & AH
Architecture: Admission to the Architecture course
will be based on the rank list prepared by giving equal weightage for the marks
in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) and the marks in the
qualifying Examination. No Entrance Examination will be conducted by the CEE
for admission to B.Arch. course. Those desirous of seeking admission to B.Arch
course should compulsorily appear and qualify the National Aptitude Test in
Architecture (NATA) conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies in
Architecture (NIASA) and also apply separately to the CEE as per this notification as in the case of those
taking the Engineering/Medical Entrance Examinations.
Minimum mark: A candidate has to score a minimum of
10 marks in each of Paper I and Paper II to be eligible to be considered for
ranking. For SC/ST applicants, there is no minimum mark stipulated to qualify
in the Entrance Examinations except for MBBS/BDS Courses.
Minimum mark for MBBS/BDS Admissions: For admission
to MBBS/BDS courses, only those who score a minimum of 50% marks in the
entrance examination will be considered for ranking. SC/ST candidates and SEBC
candidates satisfying the income criterion specified need only 40% marks in the
entrance examination to be considered for MBBS/BDS admissions. Candidates with
Locomotory disability of lower limbs between 40% and 70%, should score 45%
marks in the Medical Entrance Examination to be considered for admission to MBBS/BDS
courses.
Minimum marks for Architecture admission: For NATA
minimum mark needed to qualify is 40% (80 out of 200).
Rank list for BAMS: Separate Rank list would be
prepared for admission to BAMS Course. Those who have studied Sanskrit as
Second language at Plus Two level would be given a weightage of 10 marks. This
would be added to their marks in the Medical Entrance Examination. In case of
those who have not studied Sanskrit, the marks they score in the Medical
Entrance Examination will be considered. Considering these marks, those in the
Medical Rank list would be ranked for admission to the BAMS Course. All
applicants in the Medical Rank list will be rank in this manner for BAMS.
Rank Lists: The Medical Rank list is likely to be
published by 20th May, 2014. The Engineering Rank list is expected by 25th
June, 2014.
CAP: The procedure related to the Centralized
Allotment Process (CAP), submission of options, processing of options etc are
given in Clause 11 on Page 32 of the Prospectus.
Seats: The seat availability for the different

Fees: The Fee for various courses will be published
before the commencement of CAP 2014.

The Prospectus for admission to the Professional
Degree Courses, Kerala for 2014, can buy the prospectus and application from
the designated branches of SBT from 10th January and the same will be available
at the website of CEE from 11th January. From 11th onwards students can apply online.
The Engineering Entrance Examination (For admission
to engineering courses except Architecture) will be held from 10 am to 12.30
noon (IST) on 21st and 22nd April, 2014. Paper-I (Physics & Chemistry) will
be held on 21st April (Monday) and Paper-II (Mathematics), on 22nd April
(Tuesday) . Paper-I, Chemistry & Physics of the Medical Entrance
Examination will be held from 10 am to 12.30 noon (IST) on 23.04.2014
(Wednesday) and Paper-II: Biology will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on
24.04.2014 (Thursday).
The major change in this year’s admissions is the
inclusion of MBBS/BDS Courses also under the Medical Entrance Examination. In
2013, the admissions to MBBS/BDS courses were based on the merit in the Kerala
rank in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) conducted by the
CBSE.
There will not be any entrance or aptitude test for
Architecture, to be conducted by the CEE. Those desirous of B.Arch admissions
would have to qualify in National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)
conducted by the Council of Architecture.
More examination centres are expected to be
announced outside the state, within India, this year. As of now, there are only
two centres outside the State, one in New Delhi and other at Dubai, UAE.
