APPLICATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE Ph. D. PROGRAMME FOR THE ACADEMIC SESSION 2012, SPRING SEMESTER FOR BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES, CHEMICAL SCIENCES, EARTH SCIENCES, MATHEMATICS & STATISTICS, AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES.

Eligibility:
The qualification for the Ph.D. programme is Masters degree from any recognized University/Institute or its equivalent. Final year Masters students who are yet to obtain their degree may also appear in the admission procedure. At the time of admission only candidates with a M.Sc. or equivalent degree with at least 55% marks in the subject concerned will be considered. However, for candidates awaiting their results, provisional admission may be allowed with special permission of the Director.

Biological Sciences
Masters degree and who have qualified in the UGC/CSIR NET JRF or have other equivalent fellowship like DBT, ICMR, INSPIRE and ICAR etc are eligible to apply.

Mathematics & Statistics
Masters degree and who have qualified in the UGC/CSIR NET JRF or have other equivalent fellowship like INSPIRE and NBHM.

Theoretical Chemistry
Masters in any branch of Chemical Sciences and qualified in any National Eligibility Test (e.g., CSIR/UGC/NET-LS/NET-JRF/GATE/INSPIRE)

Chemical Sciences
Masters in any branch of Chemical Sciences and who have qualified in the UGC/CSIR NET JRF or have other equivalent fellowship like INSPIRE are eligible to apply.

Physical Sciences
Masters in any branch of Physical Sciences and who have qualified in the UGC/CSIR NET JRF or have other equivalent fellowship like INSPIRE are eligible to apply.

Selected candidates for test/interview should bring a hard copy of application along with the required documents listed below at the time of test/interview:

Attested copies of mark sheets and certificates of all examinations starting from high school leaving, two letters of recommendation (in sealed envelopes) and a statement of purpose (not exceeding 300 words), two passport size photographs, photo identity and proof of age.

Selection procedure:
List of shortlisted candidates (based on merit, subject specialization and required research area) for Test/Interview will be published in the IISER-Kolkata website tentatively in the first week of October, 2011. The test/interview will be held tentatively in the first week of November, 2011. The selected candidates will receive the offer letter containing also the last date for joining shortly after the interview.

Course Work and Laboratory rotation:
The Research fellows will have to do course work and laboratory rotations during first six months. The course content will be decided by the department concerned for each student according to his / her need. Ph. D. Supervisor will be selected only after the course work/Laboratory rotation.

CCS. National Institute of Agricultural Marketing (A Govt, of India 0rganization under Ministry of Agriculture) is the apex institution for Agricultural Marketing in India announces admissions to the 12th batch of AICTE approved two years full time prestigious "Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Agri-business Management" (PGDABM).

ELIGIBILITY : The minimum Qualification for admission to the programme is Four Year bachelor's degree with at least 50% in case of General and OBC and 45%in case of SC/ST or equivalent OGPA in Agriculture or allied subject, Veterinary Science, Dairy Technology, Food Technology, Agri. Engineering from Agricultural University or Institution recognized by the ICAR / UGC. The students who are going to complete their degree by July-August 2012 are also eligible to apply.

IMPORTANT : The Candidate Should Follow The CAT Advertisement of IIMs FOR CAT 2011. Eligibility
Master’s degree in Engineering/Technology in the relevant discipline (For ECE, COE, ICE, MPAE, IT) Securing 70% or more marks in aggregate and Masters Degree in Science or Equivalent in relevant area (as detailed at point No. V & Vi above) of Applied Sciences & Bio-Technology (in accordance with Ordinance VI-B, University of Delhi) securing 70% or more marks in aggregate.

Candidates having only M.Sc. degree (without M.Tech. or M. Phil degree) will be required to complete course work as detailed in ordinance VI B of University of Delhi. However, if the candidate has qualified any of the national level fellowship exams for example, CSIR-UGC/ICAR/ICMR/DBT/DST, Inspire fellowship or GATE examination after Master’s degree he/she will not have to undergo any course work.

Financial Assistantship to Ph.D Scholars


The Institute currently offers a Teaching-Cum-Research Fellowship of Rs. 15000/- pm (which is likely to be revised @ Rs. 25,000/- p.m.). Successful candidates, on completion of Ph.D. under the scheme, stand good chance of being considered for absorption as faculty in this institute through proper Selection Committee.

A scheme also exists for the award of Research Assistantship for providing financial assistance to the students. PG Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders


The UGC has invited online applications for the award of Post-Graduate Merit Scholarship for University Rank Holders for the academic session 2011-13 to such students, who have secured Ist or IInd position at UG level in any University/degree awarding Institution.

Candidates admitted in a post-graduate first year regular non-professional degree courses in any recognized university or a post-graduate college during the current year i.e. 2011-12 are eligible.

Selection will be made by an Expert Committee on the basis of applications, which are complete in all respects, received through online mode within the stipulated time frame. The guidelines of the scheme, detailed terms and conditions of the scholarship, eligibility criteria etc. may be seen on UGC website i.e. www.ugc.ac.in

The applications may be submitted only through ONLINE mode latest by 30th September, 2011 by logging in website www.ugc.ac.in/urh .

The scheme is for non-professional courses only. The selection will be purely on merit basis. The awardees under this scheme can pursue their Post-Graduate programme in any area of specialization and also in any institution of higher learning in the country recognized by UGC under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.

Streams identified at undergraduate level for the award of scholarships :

1 Life Sciences,2 Physical Sciences,3 Chemical Sciences,4 Earth Sciences,5 Mathematical Sciences,6 Social Sciences,7 Commerce,8 Languages

This scholarship is exclusively for the aforesaid courses only. Professional Courses are not applicable under this scheme.

Eligibility

- First & Second Rank holders at under-graduate level in the above mentioned
specified streams only admitted in any non-professional Post-Graduate course
would be awarded this scholarship.

- These awardees will have to submit the proofs of their merit position at
undergraduate level in University/Institute/Autonomous College as well as their admission in first year of Post-Graduate course during academic year 2010-11.

- The scholarship would however, be subject to securing a minimum of sixty percent marks at undergraduate level.

- The rank holders would be considered only from affiliated universities wherein at least 100 students and in deemed / private Universities/ Autonomous / Nonaffiliated colleges, at least 25 students have appeared in the examination at undergraduate level in the aforesaid programmes.

The scholarship may be tenable for a period of two years to enable the rank holders of each university at undergraduate level to pursue their Master’s Degree. All universities/ degree awarding institutions would be required to issue rank certificates to the toppers of the university in B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. The purpose of this scheme is to attract talent for pursuing post graduate studies besides strengthening the basic subjects at Undergraduate level. The awardees, under this scheme, can pursue their Postgraduate programme in any area of specialization in any institution of higher learning in the country.

Other Conditions:

- An eligible candidate who is awarded the Post-Graduate Scholarship will not be debarred from accepting any other Scholarship.
- Students desirous of leaving the studies mid-way without completing the PG degree will have to take prior approval from the UGC by submitting an application alongwith justification through the concerned University/ College/ Institution.
- The awardee will have to submit the mark-sheet of PG-I & PG-II year as completion of the PG Course and certificate for availing the scholarship.
-The scholarship is available to the student for first PG Degree only. Age limit for the students is 30 years at the time of admission in PG course.
- Distance mode of education will not be considered under the scheme.

Monitoring/ Operation of the scheme

The Scholarship will be awarded by the UGC and will be informed to the concerned Universities and awardees pursuing Master’s programmes. The selection will be purely merit based. The scholarship will be disbursed through College/ University where the awardees have taken admission in PG Course.

Financial Assistance under the scheme

-The financial assistance for the scheme will be provided by the UGC to all the eligible universities/ institutions which are under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act. The Universities in turn will be responsible to submit all documents such as Statement of Expenditure and Utilization Certificate etc. to the UGC to settle the accounts.
- Each awardee, under the scheme, will be provided a scholarship of Rs.2,000/- p.m. for a period of two years (i.e. 10 months in a year). The second year grant will be released after receiving Utilization Certificate and statement of expenditure along with the progress report of the first year .
- No other additional grants will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical charges etc.

Cancellation of the Scholarship

The UGC may terminate the scholarship of any student in case of:
a) Misconduct of the awardee, if any, reported by the University/ Institution.
b) Unsatisfactory progress report (i.e. if the candidate scores less than 60% marks in the first year of Master’s programme).
c) Candidates being found ineligible at a later date shall face the penal action and will also be liable to refund the entire Scholarship amount paid.

Attested documents to be submitted at the time of application:

- Application in prescribed format.
- Proof of admission to Master’s degree course in a recognized Indian University/College/ Institution.
- Matriculation Certificate clearly indicating the age of the Candidate.
- Prescribed Joining Report from the institution where the candidate has taken admission for P.G. Course.
- Prescribed Provisional Rank Certificate at U.G. level.

Certificates to be submitted by the concerned University/Institution to UGC

Every year University/Institution will submit a compiled statement for the following:
i) Statement giving the names of the students selected for the scholarship along with their receipt of scholarship amount.
ii) Progress Report to be submitted after the first year of the award giving percentage of marks obtained by the candidates.
iii) Utilization certificate.

The scheme may not be made available to students in private deemed and state private universities until a final decision is taken regarding funding of such universities under schemes benefiting teachers and students of such universities.

Procedure for application:
Eligible students who are pursuing postgraduate 1st year course in any of the Non- Professional Course in the current year, i.e. 2010-11 may submit their application for the above scholarship in prescribed format alongwith all relevant attested copies of documents.

Application received after the due date will not be considered. Those who had applied earlier need to apply afresh in response to this advertisement, if they had taken PG admission in the year 2010-11.

In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution from where they have obtained bachelor's degree. In case the university/ institution does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by MDI by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA
and multiplying fraction so obtained by 100. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the Bachelor's degree (or equivalent examination) and completing all requirements for obtaining the Bachelor's degree by 30th June, 2012 can also apply, subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 1st October, 2012

However, those belonging to Scheduled Castes / Tribes with upto two attempts in their MBBS/MD/MS course will be eligible.

Eligibility for Non Medical/Social Behavioural Sciences:
The candidates with the following qualifications will be eligible
a) The candidates who have passed MSc/MA or its equivalent/examination with at least 60 % marks in the subjects mentioned below: from the colleges/institutes recognized by the UGC/Panjab University are eligible
or
b) Have qualified NET examination (with fellowship only) conduct by UGC, Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) examination conducted by ICMR/CSIR etc (within two years only). Attested copy of the result must be attached.

A degree of Master of Sciences (MSc) or Master in Veterinary Science (M.V.Sc.) or M.Sc. (Laboratory Technology) or MSc (Speech & Hearing) in subjects allied to Medical Sciences such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Biophysics, Human Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Immunology, Life Sciences including Botany, Zoology, Genetics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Organic Chemistry, Anthropology & MSc (Human Genomics).

Biology: For Ph.D.: Masters in Basic Science or Bachelors in Applied Science. These include, M.Sc.(Ag.), B.Tech., B.E., B.V.Sc., B.Pharma. (4 years course), MBBS, BDS, M.Pharma. For Integrated Ph.D./M.Sc. : Bachelors in any Basic Science and For M.Sc. Wildlife Biology & Conservation: Indian nationals who have a bachelors degree in any discipline (with a minimum of 50% in core subjects), less than 35 years of age as on July 1 2012 and a strong interest in wildlife research and conservation. lCandidates in the final year of qualifying degree can also apply.

Computer & Systems Sciences:
For Ph.D.:
B.E./B.Tech./M.E./M.Tech./M.C.A./M.Sc. (Computer Science / Electrical / Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Information Technology) degree holders. Exceptionally well qualified students with B.E./B.Tech./ M.E./M.Tech./M.Sc. or equivalent degrees in other disciplines may also be ¬considered.

Final year students with consistently good academic record and ¬knowledge of advanced topics may also apply for the relevant subjects.

Candidates not holding a Master's degree and admitted to a Ph.D. programme can receive an M.Sc. degree by fulfilling prescribed requirements (see http://www.tifr.res.in/~gsoffice for details)


ADMISSION PROCEDURE: The admissions procedure (in all subjects except Science Education) consist of a written test at one of the several nationwide centres followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates. The written test will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2011 at the following centres: Ahmedabad (St. Xavier's Coll.), Bengaluru (UAS),Bhubaneshwar (Utkal U.), Chandigarh (Panjab U), Chennai (IIT), Cochin (CUSAT), Delhi (Miranda House/S.G.T.B. APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Submit online applications at http://univ.tifr.res.in Only students from remote areas who have no access to internet may send their request for application form along with a self-addressed stamped (Rs.20/-) envelope (size 25cmx 17cm) superscribed GS-2012 (Subject). APPLICATION FEE (Non-Refundable) : Rs.500/- for applications submitted online and Rs.550/- for applications sent manually by post.
Female candidates are exempted from payment of application fee. Payment can be made online by Credit/Debit cards OR by Demand Draft drawn on lState Bank of India.

For Biology and M.Sc. Wildlife Biology & Conservation: DD to be drawn in favour of “National Centre for Biological Sciences”, payable at lBengaluru.

For all other subjects: DD to be drawn in favour of “Tata Institute of Fundamental Research”, payable at Mumbai.

Hall Tickets will be issued only after receipt of application fee. Online applicants sending DD (Rs. 500/-) by post should write their reference code, name and telephone number behind the DD and send it to the address as given below. Students applying manually should send the DD for (Rs.550/-) along with the filled-in application form.

A waiver of application fee on grounds of financial distress may be requested by a letter from the Principal or the Head of the Department justifying the request. Students may apply online and send the waiver letter/request from the Principal/HOD (on their letter head duly signed and stamped) by post with a covering letter mentioning the reference code. Manual applicants may send the waiver letter along with the filled-in application form. These requests would be considered depending on availability of seats in each Centre and cannot be guaranteed.

Candidates may appear for the written test in multiple subjects if the timings do not clash. Please send/submit separate application (including Demand Draft) for each subject.

WALK-IN CANDIDATES: Some candidates without hall tickets may be admitted if seats are available. In this case the application fee is Rs. 800/- (no waivers). Eligibility :
Candidate must either be an Engineering Graduate or pursuing B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch. or its equivalent course.

MASTER'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS LAWS AND ADMINISTRATION (MBLA)

“The Master's Degree in Business Laws and Administration” is offered from the academic year 2011-12 by the NALSAR University of Law.

Duration: The Programme is offered as a self-financing program. The duration of the Course is two years spread over four semesters, and student will receive instruction in 24 Subjects.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION PROCEDURE:
The eligibility for admission to the Masters Degree Programme is Graduation in any discipline with 50% in aggregate.

Age Limit: Not over 30 Years as on 31-7-2011

Candidates awaiting results of the qualifying examination can also apply subject to the condition that they should produce proof of having passed the qualifying examination with requisite percentage, by 15-09-2011. Candidates whose memorandum of marks at the qualifying examination are not available by 01-10-2011, are not eligible for admission.

STUDENTS INTAKE AND ADMISSION
The students intake for the year would be 30.
Candidates from all parts of the country and abroad are eligible for admission.

There is no reservation for any category of candidates.
The Admission will be made based on the candidate's academic qualifications and performance at the interview.
Candidates selected for the Main List and Waiting List will be informed of their position individually.
Seats falling vacant, if any, will be filled from among those placed in the waiting list in their merit order.

Not more than 10% of the total seats may be filled directly from NRIs/ foreign nationals provided they have passed the qualifying examination.

FEE STRUCTURE:
The fee for the Programme is Rs.6 lakhs which can be paid either in lumpsum at the time of admission or in two installments as indicated below:
l First instalment of *Rs.3 lacs at the time of admission alongwith refundable deposit of Rs.10,000/-.

l Second Instalment of Rs. 3 lacs on or before by August July 31 March, 2012
l For NRIs / Foreign National
for SAARC Countries : $ 20,000/
for NON SAARC Countries : $ 25,000/


The fee for the Programme includes Tuition fee, Exam fee for the first time and *a refundable caution deposit of Rs.10,000/- (payable at the time of admission) towards use of Library and computers. This is refundable when the student successfully completes the prescribed 24 courses and refunded, save, as provided under University Rules.

PLACEMENT ASSISTANCE:
Students shall form Recruitment Committees and pursue the placement process. NALSAR will, however, provide the necessary logistic support.

HOSTEL ACCOMMODATION:
No hostel accommodation is available for the students admitted. They have to make their own arrangements for their stay and boarding.
