Applications have been invited for admission to the following Master's, Bachelor's and Doctoral Programmes of Kerala Agricultural University for the Academic Year 2012-13.

A. Regular PG Programmes :

1. MSc (Ag.) / MSc(Hort) / MSc(Forestry) / MSc(C&B) / MSc Home Science / MTech (Ag.Engg.).

Eligibility :

(a) MSc Agriculture

A bachelor's degree in the respective subject or a qualification recognised by Kerala Agricultural University as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.0 out of 10.0 or 2.25 out of 4.00 or an aggregate of 50.00% marks in the traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates an OGPA of 6.5 out of 10.0 or 2.00 out of 4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system is the minimum requirement. BSc (Ag.) and BSc (Hort.) will be treated as equal for admission purposes.

(b) MSc Co-operation & Banking 

Any degree of the Kerala Agricultural University or a qualification recognised by the Kerala Agricultural University as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.0 out of 10.0 or 2.25 out of 4.00 or atleast 50.00% marks as per the traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates, an OGPA of 6.5/10.0 or 2.00/4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system. For ICAR quota candidates a minimum of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent % of marks in Bachelors degree (for SC/STs 5.5/10) is the requirement.

(c) MSc Forestry 

A basic degree in Forestry / Agriculture / Horticulture / BVSc & A.H. or a qualification recognised by KAU as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.0 out of 10.0 or 2.25 out of 4.00 or an aggregate of 50.00% marks in the traditional system. Degree holders with Higher Grade Certificate from Ranger’s College or with Diploma in Forestry from State Forest College / Indian Forest College, Dehradun are also eligible. In the case of SC/ST candidates, an OGPA of 6.5/10.0 or 2.00/4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system is the minimum requirement. For ICAR quota candidates a minimum of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent % of marks in Bachelors degree (for SC/STs 5.5/10) is the requirement.

(d) MTech programme 

Graduation in Agricultural Engineering or a qualification recognised by KAU as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.0 out of 10.0 or 2.25 out of 4.00 or 50.00% marks in traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates, an OGPA of 6.5/10.0 or 2.00/4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in traditional system is the minimum requirement. For ICAR quota candidates a minimum of 6.0/10 or equivalent OGPA/equivalent % of marks in Bachelors degree (for SC/STs 5.5/10) is the requirement.

2. PhD in Agriculture / Horticulture / Forestry / Home Science 

Eligibility :

A Master’s degree in the discipline / related discipline from the concerned faculty of the Kerala Agricultural University or a qualification recognised as equivalent thereto with an OGPA of 7.0 out of 10.0 or 2.75 out of 4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks as per traditional system. In the case of SC/ST candidates, an OGPA of 6.5 out of 10.0 or 2.5 out of 4.00 or an aggregate of 50% marks in the traditional system is the minimum requirement. A basic degree in Agriculture / Horticulture is essential for admission to all the courses except Home Science (FS & N).

B. Integrated MSc Programme (5 years)

1. Climate Change Adaptation

2. Biotechnology

Eligibility:

Students having passed 10+2 level examination of various boards in India, as well as CBSE or equivalent to 10+2 level examinations with science subjects are eligible to apply. Candidates should have secured minimum 60% marks for general category and 50% marks for SC/ST candidates or equivalent grades.

C. MBA in Agri-Business Management 

Eligibility:

All professional graduates of State Agricultural Universities / Deemed universities under ICAR system with a minimum OGPA of 7.5/10.0 (7.0 for SC/ST Candidates). All graduates, including professional graduates from Indian / Foreign universities recognized by AICTE/UGC with a minimum 55% mark in traditional system (5% concession to SC/ST Candidates).

D. BSc Co-operation and Banking (C&B) Hons. Degree Programme 

Eligibility:

Candidates for admission to BSc (C&B) Hons programme should have passed Higher Secondary Examination of the Board of Higher Secondary Education, Kerala or examinations recognised equivalent thereto with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks. In the case of SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying examination is enough. Relaxation of 5% marks is allowed for candidates belonging to SEBC.

Courses & Eligibility:

MTech:
A) Candidates with First class or 60% marks in BE / BTech / BSc (Engg.) / MSc / MCA / MBBS / MPharm / BPharm (4 yr. Degree) / BDS (4 yr. degree) or equivalent Bachelor’s degree in appropriate branches (55% marks for SC / ST) (as specified in the clause '9' in the 'Important Guidelines for MTech' of the MTech Information Brochure 2012-13) and a valid GATE score are eligible to apply for various MTech Programmes. For candidates with an MBBS background, qualification in MCI / PGI Chandigarh / AIIMS / AFMC Pune / post graduate entrance exam is required for BME MTech programme.

B) Candidates with Associate Membership Examinations (AMIE etc.)
Candidates who have passed the Associate Membership Examinations conducted by recognized professional bodies (like Institution of Engrs. (India), Institute of Chemical Engrs., Aeronautical Society of India, Institute of Electronics & Telecommunication Engrs., Indian Institute of Metals etc.,) are also eligible to apply for the appropriate MTech programmes, provided they fulfill the following requirements:

i. the above examinations are recognized as equivalent to BE / BTech Degree.
ii. candidates MUST have obtained a First Class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST candidates)* in the above examinations.
* as specified in the clause '9' in the 'Important Guidelines for MTech' of the MTech Information Brochure 2012-13.
iii. candidates have a valid GATE score.

C) Admission for IIT BTech degree holders: Candidate having an IIT BTech degree and having a CGPA / CPI score of 8.00 and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification. They are admitted to MTech Programme through normal procedure for selection of candidates for TA / RA positions through written test and / or interview.

PhD:

A. One of the following in appropriate areas:
1) First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST)* in Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology or equivalent OR
2) For Humanities and Social Sciences Department: 55% marks (50% for SC / ST)* in Master's Degree in Arts / Social Sciences or equivalent OR
3) A First class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST)* Master’s degree in Science or a first class or 60% marks (55% marks for SC / ST)* in Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Technology.

Candidates meeting this requirement MUST also fulfill one of the following additional requirements:
Valid GATE score
SIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT / DST Inspire Award or
Fellowship.
Minimum of 2 years of professional work experience (for SW / SF / IS category)
Minimum 6 months project work experience in IIT Bombay (for PS category)
*as specified in the clause '5b' of the General Eligibility Criterion for admission in PhD Information Brochure 201213.
Requirements for Teaching Assistantship (TAship) / Research Assistantship (RAship):

A) Candidates with Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology are eligible for TAship / RAship. Candidates without Master’s Degree in Engineering / Technology require either a valid GATE score or CSIR / UGC / NBHM / DBT / DST Inspire fellowship to be considered for TA / RAship.

B) Admission for IIT BTech degree holders: Candidate having an IIT B.Tech. Degree and having a CGPA / CPI score of 8.00 and above are exempted from requirement of GATE qualification. They are admitted to PhD. Programme through normal procedure for selection of candidates for TA / RA positions through written test and / or interview. This is general eligibility criterion, however, applicant must satisfy the eligibility criterion specified by the respective Departments / Centres / Schools / ID Groups as per the PhD Information Brochure 201213.

MPhil (Planning & Development):

Candidates should satisfy at least one of the following criteria:
1) Master’s degree in Arts, Commerce or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent letter grade (50% marks for SC / ST) from a recognized university or deemed university.

2) BTech / MSc degree or equivalent with adequate background in Social Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent letter grade (55% marks for SC / ST).
Admission to this programme is open to those who qualify in MPhil Entrance Test (MET) / GATE / UGC JRF / UGC Lecturership.

Those appearing for the above exams may also apply. Those who are in service can apply as sponsored candidates. The selection will be based on the qualifying test and interview.

ADMISSIONS:
All admissions shall be made strictly on merit as determined on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Entrance Examination to be conducted by University, except the following:

(a) Admissions to BTech Programmes shall be made by the University on the basis of merit of AIEEE Examination conducted by CBSE, New Delhi.
(b) Admissions to Masters programme in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology shall be made through the entrance examination conducted by JNU, New Delhi. For application forms and other details candidates may contact JNU, New Delhi.
(c) Admission to Masters programmes in MBA / MBA (Agribusiness) shall be made through CAT score and Group Discussion and an Interview conducted by the University.
(d) In MTech programmes, admission shall be made first based on the qualified GATE score. Vacant seats shall be filled based on OGPA / percentage (%) of marks of BTech. The candidate should have secured at least an OGPA of not less than 6.000 / 10.000 or 3.000 / 5.000 or 55% marks in aggregate in case of the Institutions / Universities where these scales are not applicable in the Bachelor's degree. However, admission towards seats for Other State candidates in MTech Agricultural Engineering majors shall be made through Entrance Examination conducted by ICAR. In case, domicile candidates of Uttarakhand are not available for the sanctioned seats, the same shall be filled from amongst candidates of Other States.
(e) Admissions to MCA programme shall be made on the basis of separate Entrance Examination to be conducted by the University. In case a candidate wants to appear for other Masters programmes in addition to MCA, he/she has to fill separate application form.
(f) Candidates other than Bonafide residents of Uttarakhand are not eligible to seek admission directly to the Undergraduate and Masters degree programmes in the University. However, they can apply to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi/Veterinary Council of India, New Delhi.
