PG Admission 2010
Applications are invited from candidates for the Entrance Test, for admission to the Post- Graduate Degree programmes in the teaching departments of the University of Kerala. Appearance at the Entrance Test is a MUST for all those who are desirous of seeking admission to the PG courses in the University Teaching Departments. Admission to the PG Programmes will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the Common Entrance Test, in the ratio 50:50.
Eligibility
Bachelor's degree with the required minimum as specified in the concerned subject (see below ). Relaxation of marks upto 5% will be given to SC/ST candidates. Students who have appeared or are appearing for their qualifying examination may also apply, provided they fulfill the eligibility criteria,at the time of admission.

Students have to remit the registration fee of Rs.260/- Registration Fees: A registration fee of Rs.260/- (Rs.135/- for SC/ST candidates) has been prescribed. However if a candidate appears for admission for more than one P.G. Programme for the Entrance Test Rs.50/- (Rs.25/- for SC/ST) may be added for each additional subject applied for. The Registration Fee in the form of DD/University Chalan should be attached with Form-A.
Mode of Remittance: Remittance at the University of Kerala Cash Counter Chalan / Demand Draft drawn on SBT/SBI/District Co-operative Bank in favour of the Finance Officer, University of Kerala, payable at Trivandrum. In case of DD Registration Fee is Rs.280/-
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
(For all subjects there is relaxation in minimum marks for SC/ST students)
M.A English : BA/B.Sc. with 50% in Part I or 45% in Part III & IV Optional English Main with relaxation for SC/ST students.
Philosophy : BA with 50% or B.Sc. with 55% minimum marks with relaxation of
marks for SC/ST students.
Archaeology : BA/B.Sc. Degree with 55% marks.
History : BA History/Politics/English/Economics/Philosophy/Sociology/ Social Science/BBA with 50% marks.
Sociology : Graduate in any subject in Faculty of Arts/Social Science/ Science/ Commerce with 45% marks. Relaxation of marks for SC/ST.
Economics : BA Economics or B.Sc. Mathematics/Statistics with 50% marks relaxation of marks for SC/ST.
Political Science : BA Politics/Economics/History/Philosophy/Law/Journalism/ Social Science Subjects with 50% marks, for SC/ST 35%
Psychology : A pass in BA/B.Sc. Psychology
Hindi : BA Hindi Main or BA/B.Sc. with Hindi in Part II with aggregate maximum of 300 marks in Hindi. with relaxation for SC/ST students.
Malayalam : BA Malayalam 50% marks or 50% in Part II Malayalam language for SC/ST pass only.
Linguistics : BA/B.Sc./B.Com degree with 50% marks.
Arabic : BA degree in Arabic or Arabic as Second Language at degree level.
Islamic History : BA in Islamic History or students of Social Science subjects with 50% marks at degree level.
Sanskrit : BA Sanskrit – BA Sanskrit Special with any specialization – or BA with Sanskrit as Second Additional Language with 45% marks.
Tamil : BA Tamil or Second Language with 50% marks.
German : BA – B.Sc degree with Post Diploma course or Second Class with Diploma or 50% marks secured in Part II German.
Russian : A pass in any degree recognized by University of Kerala and Diploma in Russian or Integrated Diploma in Russian or BA, B.Sc. Part II Russian.
Music : BA Music / BPA with 50% marks.
M.Sc. Aquatic Biology & Fisheries : B.Sc. Zoology with 55% marks in Part III
Bio Chemistry : B.Sc. Chemistry main or B.Sc. Biochemistry/Chemistry – Core subject restructured course with 55% in Part III.
Botany : B.Sc. Botany with 55% marks in Part III/Tipple Main with Botany
Chemistry : B.Sc. Chemistry main with Mathematics as Subsidiary with 55% marks.
Demography : 55% marks for B.Sc Mathematics – Statistics or 50% marks for BA Economics, Sociology, Geography, Anthropology with Statistics Subsidiary or have opted Mathematics at Pre-degree level.
Geology : B.Sc. Geology with 55% marks in Part III
Mathematics : B.Sc. Mathematics with 55% marks in Part III
Physics : B.Sc. Physics with Mathematics as subsidiary and 55% marks in Part III
Statistics : B.Sc. Statistics or B.Sc. Mathematics with Statistics as subsidiary with 55% marks.
Zoology : B.Sc. Zoology with 55% marks.
Bio-technology : B.Sc. in Zoology/Botany/Micro Biology/Bio technology/ Bio chemistry/ Environmental Science/ Aquatic Biology with 55% marks.
Computer Science : Ist Class Bachelors degree in Computer Science/ Computer Application / Electronics with 60% marks.
Computational Biology : BSc(Computer Science), BSc(Electronics, BCA, BSc Physics and Computer Applications, BSc in any branch with PGDCA,BTech(Biotechnology), Any other Bachelors Degree in allied areas with 55% marks.
Environmental Science : B.Sc. Botany/Zoology/Life Science/Environmental Science/ Biotechnology/ Chemistry/Biochemistry/Geology with 55% marks.
M.Com : B.Com with 50% marks with relaxation for SC/ST
M.LISc.: Bachelors Degree of University of Kerala or a Degree of any other University recognized as equivalent thereto with 50% marks aggregate.
M.Ed.: B.Ed with 50% marks and MA or M.Sc with 50% marks.
LLM : LLB Degree with 50% marks.
MCJ : Any degree Arts 50% Science 55% in Part III.
MSW : Graduate in Social Science, Commerce, Law, BSW, BBA & Science Graduates.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORMS
FORM-A – Filled in Application Form –A along with the Demand Draft /Chalan, the Hall ticket portion and a self addressed stamped cover for Rs.5/- alone should be sent addressed to
THE DEPUTY REGISTRAR, CREDIT AND SEMESTER SYSTEM, UNIVERSITY OF KERALA,KARIAVATTOM.P.O, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM-695581 so as to reach before 5 p.m on 30.4.2010.
The cover containing application form should be superscribed "Application for Entrance Test to teaching department (CSS)". Application received after the last date will be rejected without any intimation.
Request for refund of registration fee will not be entertained. Please note that the if the application is found to be incorrect or incomplete in any respect an amount of Rs.50/- will be charged as handling charges.

Students applying for MA English, M.Com., M.LISc., RUSSIAN AND GERMAN should sent form-B addressed to THE PROF & HEAD, DEPARTMENT OF……………..(Name of the department the student seeks admission) UNIVERSITY OF KERALA, PALAYAM, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM.
Students applying for MA Music should send form- B addressed to THE PROF & HEAD,DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC, THYCAUD .P.O, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. And Students applying for M.Ed. should sent form-B addressed to THE HEAD OF THE DEPARTMENT, DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, UNIVERSITY OF KERALA, THYCAUD.P.O, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM. Each APPLICATION FORM-B should be accompanied with copy of Marklist and Community certificate and other relevant certificates.
LAST DATE FOR SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM –'B' to the concerned Teaching Department is 25.06.2010.
PATTERN AND MEDIUM OF EXAMINATION
Test is of two hours duration and has two parts. The first part is objective type consisting of 50 multiple choice questions to be answered in 1 hour and the second part consists of 15 short answer questions, out of which, 10 are to be answered in the remaining 1 hour. The question will be at the level of the qualifying Bachelor's Degree Course. Medium of the examination is English, except for languages.
CENTRE OF EXAMINATION: Test will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram only.
VENUE, DATE & TIME OF EXAMINATION will be intimated later along with the Hall Ticket.
PREPARATION OF RANK LIST : The rank list for P.G. Course will be prepared by giving weightage for marks secured in the Entrance Examination and the marks secured in the concerned subjects at the degree level. Bonus marks for NCC, NSS etc. will be as per existing norms.
RESULTS OF ENTRANCE EXAMINATION : The marks scored in the Entrance Examination will be published in the University Web site ADMISSION MEMO (SELECTION MEMO) Will be sent to selected candidates from the concerned departments after preparing the rank list.
FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS TO BE PRODUCED ONLY AT THE TIME OF ADMISSION.
1) Admit Card (Hall Ticket) of Entrance Examination
2) SSLC and relevant School Records to prove date of birth
3) Original marklists and certificates of qualifying examination.
4) Transfer Certificate and Conduct Certificate from the Institution last attended.
5) Eligibility Certificate from University of Kerala in respect of students who passed their
qualifying examination from Universities/Boards/Outside University of Kerala.
6) Any other documents suggested by the department.
