LL.B. Course (Session: 2013-2015) ADMISSION NOTICE
Applications
in prescribed form, obtainable from 26.11.2012 to 20.12.2012 between 11
a.m. to 2 p.m. on all working days, at University Sales Counter, Rajbati,
Burdwan (and not by post) on payment of Rs. 450/- in cash and on production of
original/attested Xerox copy of mark-sheet of the relevant last degree
examination and age proof certificate are invited for admission to the 3-year
LL.B. course of studies to be imparted at The University of Burdwan, The
Law Section of Hooghly Mohsin College and Self-Financing Private Law Colleges
(Durgapur Law College, Bengal Law College, Durgapur Institute of Legal Studies
& Asansol Law College) affiliated to the University of Burdwan for the academic
session 2013-2015. The selection for admission to the course shall be
strictly in order of merit on the basis of performance of the eligible candidates
at the written admission test to be conducted by the University.
Information
Brochure to be issued along with the application forms will contain other
relevant details.
Eligibility:
A candidate is eligible to apply for admission into the course if
he/she secures not below 45% of the total marks in case of General category and
40% of the total marks in case of SC and ST category at the Bachelor’s Degree
examination in 10+ 2 + 3 pattern.
Age:
The maximum age of the candidate seeking admission into the course
is limited to 30 years in case of General Category and 35 years in case of SC,
ST and Other Backward Communities as on 1st January
2013.
Reservation:
As per Govt. rules.
Candidates
willing to submit the form on the day of issue must also bring with him/her
attested photocopies of all original credentials & two copies of self
attested passport size self photograph.

INFORMATION BROCHURE
Dear Candidate,
We welcome you to appear at the Joint Entrance Test for
admission to 3-year LL.B. Course of Studies to be imparted at the University of
Burdwan, Hooghly Mohsin College, Chinsurah Hooghly, Self-Financing Private
Colleges affiliated to the University of Burdwan during the academic session
2013-2015. We hope that you will do your best in the Test. I take this
opportunity to give you information and instructions regarding the test which
you ‘must attend to’, so that we can serve you well.
Please note:
1. The basic eligibility as prescribed in the
advertisement is the eligibility for obtaining the application form only.
Selection will be made strictly on the basis of your performance at the Joint
Entrance Test to be conducted by the University.
2. Obtain application form and check whether the
application set contains (a) the information brochure (b) the application form
(c) the blank Hall Ticket.
General Instructions for filling the form:
As you fill in the application form, please enclose (a)
attested photocopies of the mark-sheets of all the public examinations passed
by you (b) attested photocopy of Admit Card of Madhyamik or equivalent
examination (c) attested photocopy of SC*/ST*/PH** certificate from appropriate
authorities in case you belong to that category (d) two recent passport size
self attested photographs.
Submission of Form and collection of Hall Ticket:
A blank Hall Ticket will be issued to you with the
application form to sit for the Admission Test. Just fill in the relevant
portion of the ticket and get it signed and take it back, preferably personally
from the Office of the undersigned at the time of submitting duly completed
application form. Forms will be submitted only at the Office of the
Secretary, Faculty Council (Arts etc.), Rajbati, Burdwan University.
However, in case you find it inconvenient to submit the form personally,
anybody on your behalf may do that and collect the Hall Ticket. In that case,
you must give a letter of authorisation in the name of your messenger. Hall
Ticket in any case will not be sent by post. Incomplete form as well as
filled one received after the due date is liable to be rejected and neither
refund of fees deposited nor any correspondence in this regard will be
entertained under any circumstances.
Nature of test:
It is objective as well as subjective type test.
Subjective paper will contain (i) Essay Writing/Précis Writing (ii) Letter
Writing (iii) Paragraph (related Law) (iv) Translation. Objective paper will
contain two parts consisting of (i) English Grammar & (ii) General
Knowledge including current affairs. Total duration of the test will be of 2
hrs.
Test Centre:
There will be only one test centre i.e., Old Humanities
Building, Golapbag Campus, The University of Burdwan.
Test Administration:
Your Admit Card is Hall Ticket. Issued Hall
Ticket should be retained by you and shown at the Test Centre to prove your
identity. No candidate will be allowed to appear at the Test without Hall
Ticket. Candidate should report at the Test Centre at least 30 minutes before the
commencement of the test. No candidate will be allowed to go in after the
commencement of the test.
Reservation:
As per Govt. rules, applicable only to the University of
Burdwan and Law Section, Hooghly Mohsin College. No reservation will be given
for seats at the self-financing private colleges.
Test Result and Counselling for admission:
Your result of the Test will be declared and published on
4th January, 2013 at the Office of the undersigned and also
our University’s website. You
must, therefore, turn up personally to see for yourself your position in the
merit list or follow our website. Please, however, note that the University
will make a short list strictly on the basis of merit of Joint Entrance Test.
Then, those short-listed candidates are to be called for counselling in order
to give them an offer of admission as per merit held by the candidate and
intake position for the course. The date of counselling is 7th January, 2013 from 12 noon sharp at the Auditorium Hall,
Golapbag Campus, B.U. Admission
of selected candidates after counselling will be on the spot at the time of
counselling. No postal communication will be made in this regard. Please,
also note that you will not be entertained for admission in any case, if you
fail to turn up for counselling by the stipulated date. However, if you
fail to turn up personally on the date of counselling, anybody on your behalf
may turn up by the stipulated date of counselling. In that case, you must give
a letter of authorisation in the name of your messenger.

* Relevant
Certificate must conform to West Bengal Govt. Memo No. 1813-BCW/MR-94/11 dated
20th June, 2011.Candidates
claiming reservation against SC/ST quota of seats must submit relevant caste
certificates issued in their favour by one of the authorities listed below:
(i) Deputy Collector of Land
Revenue, Kolkata Collector of Stamp Revenue, Kolkata Metropolitan Magistrate,
Kolkata, Addl. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate, Kolkata, Chief Metropolitan
Magistrate, Kolkata, 1st
Class Stipendiary Magistrate,
Executive Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Officer, Deputy
Collector, Addl. District Magistrate, Collector and District Magistrate within
their respective jurisdictions in case of candidates claiming to be Schedule
Caste or Schedule Tribe and ordinarily residing within such jurisdictions.
** The Certificate must be
live and issued in favour of the candidate by an appropriate authority not
below the rank of Superintendent of Sub-Divisional Hospital. In the
certificate, the extent of Physical Disability must not be below 40%. It is
also to be noted that the candidates who claim reservation against this quota
must personally appear before the Medical Board constituted by the University
on 27.12.2012 at 1 p.m. at the Office Chamber of the
Secretary, Faculty Council (Arts etc.), B.U. for verification their claim &
eligibility of admission in this quota.
General Information:
1. (Only for Burdwan University students): Hostel seats of
the University of Burdwan are limited and therefore, accommodation in hostels
cannot be assured. Students, however, may apply for hostel accommodation in the
prescribed form to be had from the University Sales Counter, Rajbati and on the
spot admission to the hostel will be made at the time of counselling.
2. As per the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court
of India, it is notified that if any incident of ragging comes to the notice of
the authority, the concerned student shall be given liberty to explain and if
his /her explanation is not found satisfactory, the authority would expel
him/her from the institution.
3. The University also reserves all right to drop or
include any name if any suppression of facts on the part of the students or any
mistake is detected at any stage before or after the admission.
