Kerala University CAT 2011 (KU-CAT 2011) for admission to the Two Year MBA (Full time) and MBA (Tourism-Full time)

Kerala University CAT 2011 (KU-CAT 2011)

University of Kerala has invited applications in the prescribed format from the prospective candidates for the Kerala University Common Admission Test 2011 (KU-CAT 2011) for admission to the Two Year MBA (Full time) and MBA (Tourism-Full time) Credit and Semester System offered at Institute of Management in Kerala (IMK), Palayam campus and its extension centers for the batch of 2011-2013.

Eligibility for admission: Any student who has passed degree from any Indian Universities under the regular stream recognised by the University of Kerala and shall be in 10+2+3 pattern (or in 10+2+4). In all the cases the student should have passed the degree examination with not less than 50% marks in Part III marks (without approximation, that is 49.999% is not eligible since it is less than 50%) in BA, B.Sc, B.Com etc., and 50% marks in aggregate in case of B.Tech, B.Sc (Agri) and other 4/5 year degree courses is eligible for admission. SC/ST candidates shall be given relaxation as per university rules.

The students who are appearing for their final year/final semester degree examination are also eligible to apply.

Reservation of seats: The reservation for SC candidates is 15% and that of ST candidates it is 5%. In the case of candidates belonging to Backward classes they are eligible for 20% reservation as per G.O (M.S) No.107/08/H.Edn dated 20.09.2008 (Ezhava – 8%, Muslim – 7%, LC/SIUC-1%, OBC Christian – 1%, OBC Hindu – 3%) and in the case of candidates belonging to Forward Communities the 7.5% reservation as per G.O.(M.S)No.108/2008/H.Edn dated 20.09.2008 who have to submit copy of the B.P.L. certificate issued by the Village Officer.

Admission Process:
The process of admission is as follows.
1. The candidates are required to appear for the MBA Entrance Test of the University in the last week of April 2011 at any of the following Centres:
(1) Thiruvananthapuram (2) Kollam (3) Alappuzha (4) Thrissur (5) Adoor and (6) Kannur

2. All the candidates who wrote the entrance examination will be invited to participate in the Group Discussion and Interview to be held at the last week of April 2011 at Trivandrum, Adoor and Alappuzha.

3. Rank list for admission to the MBA programme will be finalized on the basis of the score obtained in the Entrance Test (70% weightage), Group Discussion (15% weightage) and Interview (15 % weightage) which will be published in the last week of June 2011.

4. The counseling for admission will be during the first/second week of May 2011 and the following procedure will be undertaken:
a. IMK Palayam MBA (General-40 seats) will be filled first. (20 in the merit and 20 in the reservation category) on the first day of counseling.
b. Next day of counseling, 220 seats of Merit category and the subsequent 220 seats in reservation category will be completed for extension centres (including Tourism at Palayam).
c. In the case of absence of SC/ST candidates, the same will be filled by OEC and subsequently by OBC candidates and finally by Open candidates.
d. Candidates passed degree or Masters Degree of other Universities should produce the Eligibility Certificate issued by the University of Kerala (Course Equivalency Certificate) at the time of admission. It is mandatory that the candidate produces eligibility certificate at the time of counselling otherwise the candidate will not be considered for admission.

Application Procedure:
(i) Prescribed application forms along with brochure are to be downloaded from the website: www.imk.ac.in and www.keralauniversity.ac.in
(ii) The filled in application form should accompany the D.D. for Rs.510 in favour of "THE FINANCE OFFICER, UNIVERSITY OF KERALA" drawn from SBT payable at KUOC campus or from Cooperative banks payable at Trivandrum/ Chalan of Rs.500/- payable at University cash counter for application fee and also the copies of Income Certificate or B.P.L. Certificate and Community Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
(iii) Duly filled in application along with self addressed office cover should reach the Professor and Head, Institute of Management in Kerala, University of Kerala, Palayam Campus, Thiruvananthapuram-695034 on or before 31.03.2011.
