Eligibility:
M.Sc. in one of the following subjects:
Physics, Space Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences, Chemistry (Physical, Nuclear / Analytical), Geology, Geophysics and Ocean Sciences.
A minimum of 60% marks at the Bachelor's and Master's levels are required for all candidates. Candidate must have Physics and Mathematics as the subjects at the Under Graduate level.
Age Limit: Not more than 25 years as on 31st December 2010 (born on or after 31.12.1985).
Stipend & Facilities:
Rs.16,000/- per month, raised to Rs.18,000/- per month after two years, subject to satisfactory academic review; a book grant of Rs. 7500/- per year; and accommodation and medical facility at a nominal charge. Students may also be supported for attending conferences abroad, once during their tenure.
Selection Procedure:
Written test, followed by personal interview for those who qualify in the written test. Written test may be waived for candidates who satisfy eligibility criteria and have qualified in any of the following:
(i) JEST-2011 (ii) GATE (in Physics / Geophysics) 2010 / 2011, (iii) UGC-CSIR NET - JRF in June or Dec. 2010 in Subject Codes–1, 2 and 5.

Requests for application forms from those with no internet access should reach Head, Academic Services, Physical Research Laboratory, Navrangpura, Ahmedabad - 380 009 on or before 04.03.2011.
Last date for both postal and on line submission of application is 25.03.2011.
