Applications invited for Ph.D. in Science (January-2012 Session)
The National Institute of Oceanography (CSIR-NIO), a premier ocean research institute of the Council for Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR), invites applications to pursue doctoral (Ph.D.) studies in oceanography.
Eligibility: Candidates with Masters of Science (in any field of specialization) having valid National Level Fellowships such as NET-JRF/SRF of CSIR-UGC and DST’s INSPIRE Fellowship, or any other equivalent national fellowships and Project Assistants in CSIR-NIO with a minimum of one year experience are eligible to apply.
Seats available: Maximum 15
Selection will be through an interview of shortlisted applicants.
Last date for submission of on-line application is 11 November 2011.

Commencement of the program: August 2012
Upper age limit: 28 years as on 11/11/2011 and relaxation by 5 years to SC/ST/OBC/Woman/Physically handicapped candidates.
Project Assistants from CSIR-NIO wishing to apply should submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) and recommendation of the Guide (Project Leader with whom the student is presently working as Project Assistant) directly to Dr. V. K. Banakar, Head HRD-SAC & AcSIR-Coordinator, National Institute of Oceanography, Dona Paula, Goa-403 004, India. E-mail: banakar@nio.org, Ph: 0832-2450361, Fax: 0832-2450616. Project Assistants who are offered admission into Ph.D. program will be given an opportunity to compete for selection as interns under CSIR Golden Jubilee Research Internship (DJRI) Scheme. The DJRIs are eligible for monthly stipend of Rs.15000 for a period of two years.
