IITH-JICA PhD scholarship

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is establishing new PhD Scholarship at Japanese Universities for graduates or expected graduates of IITH based on agreement between Government of Japan and Government of India. The overall goal of this Scholarship Project is to enhance World-Class Research Network between Higher Education Institutions / Industrial clusters of Japan and IITH, whereby both can establish educational and research excellence in the field of science, technology and engineering in the future. This scholarship is available for FY2015 and FY2016. Participants of the 2nd (last) batch are supposed to complete their study in Japan and to leave from Japan by the end of March, 2020.

Prospective Fields and Level of Study
This funding is available to PhD track (3 years) track students in the field of Science, Technology and Engineering. The main language of all of the available courses is English and the list of Japanese Universities for 2015 Scholarship Program is as follows. Keio University
Kyoto University
Kyushu University
Nagoya University
Osaka University
Ritsumeikan University
The University of Tokyo
Tohoku University
Waseda University
Qualifications:
1) Nationality: Citizens of India;
2) Age: between 20 and 30 years old as of April 1 in the year of the participants arrival in Japan in principle (Note: If University and / or course has its own limitation for age, which takes priority over this qualification);
3) Military personnel are NOT allowed to apply;
4) Applicants must have a clear understanding of the overall goal of the Project;
5) Applicants must NOT be those who will receive another scholarship through other foreign assistance at the same time;
6) Health condition: mentally and physically in sound;
7) English proficiency: to have a good command of English to a level sufficient for study in Japan; and
8) Graduates or expected graduates of IITH

Application Procedure:
Step 1 - Applicants duly fill Application Form (downloadable from http://friendship.iith.ac.in/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Application-Form-for-2015-JICA-FRIENDSHIP-IITH-students_rev.doc) of IITH-Japan NEW Scholarship and send it to email address scholarship@friendship.iith.ac.in by 20th Feb 2015:
1. Data File in MS Word or PDF by e-mail to scholarship@friendship.iith.ac.in;
2. Printed Copy by post to the following address; Miki Matsuo (Ms.) Project Coordinator / Industry-Academia Collaboration Coordinator, JICA Friendship Project, Postal Address: #147, Lavender Block, L&T Serene County, Urdu University Rd., Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA 500032

Step 2 - (February - April 2015) Only for those who are requested
If necessary, applicants are required to take an interview by the Project. The detail will be notified via e-mail according to the necessity. The expense, e.g. travel cost to Hyderabad, accommodation etc. is borne in accordance with the regulation of JICA.

Step 3-1 (April - May 2015) Only for successful applicants on Step 1 & 2
Successful applicants are asked to submit Application Form to University. The details are guided by e-mail. According to the request from university, examination and/or interview may be required to take in Japan. The expense, e.g. travel cost to Japan, accommodation etc. is borne in accordance with the regulation of JICA.

Step 3-2 (April - May 2015) Only for successful applicants on Step 1 & 2
In parallel with Step 3-1, Application Form of JICA is asked to submit for administration after the notification of JICA
