Part-Time B.Tech Course Admission Notice 2014-2015

Applications are invited for admission of candidates to Part Time (PT) B. Tech Programmes (4 years) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering at Model Engineering College under IHRD for the academic year 2014-2015. The classes will be conducted normally in the evening on all working days and on holidays, if necessary in accordance with the syllabi of the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT).

Eligibility for Admission

Nativity: Candidates shall be Indian Nationals, either native of Kerala State or employed in Kerala State.

Academic Eligibility: A pass in the Diploma Examination in any one of the following disciplines in Engineering, with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks:

Electronics Engineering / Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Applied Electronics / Instrument Technology / Electronics &Instrumentation / Biomedical Engineering / Medical Electronics /Medical Instrumentation / Electronics & Avionics / Electronic Production Technology / Telecommunication Technology.

Experience: Candidates shall be presently working and shall have a minimum of two years work experience in a registered firm/ Company/ Industry/ Educational and/or Research Institute / Government/Quasi-Government or Government Autonomous Organizations after obtaining the diploma in any of the above disciplines.

Training of any kind will not be considered as experience. However one year Apprenticeship training under Apprenticeship Act will be considered as experience for the limited purpose of admission to B.Tech (Part-Time) program.

Application form for admission is to be completed online through the website www.mec.ac.in

The print out of the online application along with required application fee and documents are to be submitted to the Principal, Model Engineering College, Thrikkakara, Cochin-682021 on or before 8th August 2014.

The application fee for all candidates will be Rs 500/-.

Application fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances. Applications without application fee as DD will summarily be rejected.

Mode of Payment: Application fee will be received only by way of Demand Draft (DD) drawn on a Nationalized/Scheduled Bank (Preferably State Bank of Travancore), in favour of the Principal, Model Engineering College payable at Edappally/Ernakulam.

Documents to be attached along with print out of application: True copies of:

(a) Nativity Certificate and Age proof.

(b) Diploma Certificate.

(c) Mark Lists of Diploma Examination.

(d) Present professional employment certificate as given in the Annexure.

(e) Community Certificate and /or annual family income certificate for the SEBC/SC/ST candidates as the case may be.

(f) Experience certificate as proof of having 2 years work experience as stated at 5(c).

Selected candidates shall produce a No Objection Certificate, in the format given in Annexure, at the time of joining.

Applicants should in general satisfy the eligibility conditions as prescribed in Clause V of the prospectus for admission to PG degree course in Engineering for the year 2014 published by Department of Technical Education, Govt. of Kerala vide G.O. (Rt) No. 1057/2014/H.Edn. dated 31/05/2014.

Qualifications Prescribed for each Specialization

a) VLSI & Embedded Systems: Bachelors Degree with 60% marks or equivalent grade in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electronics &

Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Biomedical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics Engineering of a recognized University.

b) Signal Processing: Bachelors Degree with 60% marks or equivalent grade in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Biomedical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics Engineering / Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / M. Sc (Electronics) of a recognized University.

c) Opto Electronics & Communication Systems: Bachelors Degree with 60% marks or equivalent grade in Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Biomedical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics Engineering / M. Sc ( Electronics) / M.Sc (Photonics) of a recognized University.

d) Image Processing: B.E. /B. Tech degree in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / M.C.A degree / five year Integrated M.Sc degree / AMIETE / AMIE in Computer Science of a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in a 10 point scale.

e) Computer and Information Science: Bachelor?s degree in Engineering in the branch of Computer Science & Engineering or Information Technology with minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent / MCA degree with minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent / Five year integrated M.Sc. Degree in Software Engineering with minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent / AMIE or AMIETE in Computer Science with minimum 60% aggregate or equivalent.

f) Cyber Forensic and Information Security: B. E. / B. Tech in Computer Science & Engineering / Information Technology / Electronics & Communication Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering with a minimum of 60 % marks

g) Energy management: B.E./B. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering of a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in a 10 point scale.

h) Thermal Engineering: B.E./B. Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering of a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 6.5 in a 10 point scale.

Applications should be filled online (from 20-06-2014 to 01-07-2014, 5:00 p.m) by logging on to the website of the respective college where the applicant desires admission (website address of the colleges are provided in section 2). The different entries in the application are to be filled with extreme care, as this information is used for preparing the rank list. After submitting the application online, the printout of the filled in online application along with supporting documents and a demand draft for Rs.500/- (Rs.250/- for SC/ST candidates) drawn on a Nationalised/Scheduled Bank, in favour the Principal of the Engineering College concerned where the applicant desires admission, payable at the place of the college should be submitted to the Principal of the concerned college on or before 04/07/2014, 5 PM. The applicants should submit their rank as announced by the Director of Technical Education as per their Prospectus Conditions to PG Degree Course in Engineering for the year 2014 (Ref: www.dtekerala.gov.in)  through the M.Tech online application portal of IHRD/respective colleges which will be enabled from 11.07.2014 to 14.07.2014, 4.00 pm.

Documents to be submitted along with the printout of the filled in online Application

A. True copies of the following documents attested by a Gazetted officer

i. Qualifying Degree certificate and Mark lists.

ii. Equivalency certificate from Cochin University for candidates whose eligibility degree is awarded by universities outside Kerala.

iii. GATE Score card (for Candidates with valid GATE Score)

iv. Community and Income certificate issued by the Village Officer for candidates who claim eligibility under SEBC quota

v. Community certificate issued by the Tahsildar for candidates who claim eligibility for reservation under SC/ST quota.

vi. Employment Certificate, Experience Certificate and Sponsorship Certificate from the concerned Organization (for Sponsored candidates).

vii. SSLC/equivalent certificate mentioning the Date of Birth of applicant.

viii. Certificates to prove eligibility for special reservations, if any
