Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) has invited applications from interested Research Institutions in Kerala to be recognized as its approved research Centres .

KUFOS awards P.hD under five Faculties namely Fisheries, Ocean Science & Technology, Ocean Engineering, Climate Change & Aquatic Ecosystems and Management, Humanities & Social Science, for which research institutions can seek recognition as approved research centres.

Research institutions functioning under Central or State government and educational institutions recognized by KUFOS can apply for the same in prescribed format. Such Institutions should have at least three scientists or teachers who are eligible for getting recognition as Research Guides of KUFOS. 

Applications Invited for Research Guides

KUFOS has also invited applications from eligible persons to become approved Research Guide of the University under the five Faculties. University teachers or scientists, not below the rank of Assistant Professor in the University or an equivalent position in a recognized institution, can apply for becoming approved Research Guides of KUFOS in prescribed format.  An outstanding person with Ph.D degree who has substantially contributed in an area whose service as Research Guide is considered to be of value to the university can also apply.

Recognition for both Research Centres and Research Guides will be awarded subject to fulfillment of University norms.  Guidelines, fees details and application formats for Research Centres and Research Guides are available on the website (www.kufos.ac.in) . The last date for receipt of application is 31st May 2014.

Ph.D Admission

KUFOS has also invited applications for admission to Ph.D programmes under five Faculties. The last date for receipt of application is 30th June 2014.

Eligibility:

Ph.D. (Science):

A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/Medicine or B.S (of 4 year duration) or a Master’s degree in Science having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies, e.g. CSIR, UGC, DBT, DST etc.), INSPIRE or other equivalent fellowships.

Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates with following qualification shall be eligible for admission to the Ph. D. Programme of the Institute.

For Engineering, Technology and Architecture Departments:

(a) Candidates possessing M. Tech./ M. E./ M. Sc. (Engg.)/ M. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examination shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

(b) Candidates possessing B. Tech./ B. E./ B. Sc. (Engg.)/ B. Arch or equivalent Degree in relevant branch from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 75% marks (or a CGPA of 8.25 in 10 point scale) in all (from 10th onward) examinations including qualifying examination may be considered in exceptional cases after approval of DRC. Such candidates must have professional/ research experience of at least ten years in reputed Institutions/ Organizations.

For Science Departments:

Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of Science from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 60% marks (or a CGPA of 6.5 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

For Science, Humanities & Social Science Departments1:

Candidates possessing Master’s Degree in the area of English or Economics from a recognized University/ Institute with minimum 55% marks (or a CGPA of 6.0 in 10 point scale) in the qualifying examinations shall be considered for admission in the departments as per their Specialization only.

Application Procedure

1. Application must be submitted ONLINE through website http://www.nitp.ac.in

2. After Submitting the application online, the same is to be downloaded and the signed hard-copy along with recent photograph and self-attested relevant certificates, document and Statement of Purpose must be sent to the following address on or before the last date of submission.

3. Application fee of Rs. 1000/- for General/ OBC/ Sponsored category and Rs. 500/- for SC/ ST/ PH in the form of DD drawn in favour of National Institute of Technology Patna Payable at Patna, must accompany with the Hard copy of the online application submitted.
