GOVERNMENT OF SRI LANKA PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARSHIPS FOR FOREIGN STUDENTS FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR-2014-15

1. On line applications are invited from Indian nationals, though MHRD’s website http://mhrd.gov.in   for nominations for the award of Scholarships in Sri Lanka tenable from December 2014 for Postgraduate studies at Universities in Sri Lanka.
I. NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS TO BE SENT: Four (04)
II. LEVEL OF COURSE: Postgraduate
 SUBJECT FIELDS:
1. MSc in Molecular Life Science
2. MSc in Environmental Management
3. MSc in Agriculture and 4. Master of Business Administration (MBA)

TENURE OF AWARDS : Two year Degree Programme
III. ELIGIBILITY
( 1) Applicants should possess a first class degree from a recognized university with good academic merit to enroll a master degree with minimum 60% marks.
( 2) Age: Be less than 45 years of age on 30.09.2014.
2. ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY
English is the medium of instruction. Accordingly, an applicant whose previous education has not been conducted in English has to demonstrate a good command of English sufficient to meet the demands of classroom instructions, written assignments and participation in tutorials and discussions. Therefore, applicants must provide evidence of proficiency in English i.e for Masters the required marks should be minimum score of 550 on TOEFL or 6.5 on IELTS.
3. VALUE OF AWARD:
I. Provide tuition and registration free of charge.
II. Visa for studies free of charge.
III. During the study period, a monthly living allowance of Rs. 30,000/- will be paid.
IV. One-off settlement allowance of Rs.10,000/- .
V. Reimbursement of cost of air fare (economy class) to come to Sri Lanka and return his/her country after studies.
VI. Accommodation: it is expected that the scholarship recipient will meet the expenditure for food and accommodation with the monthly allowance of Rs. 30,000/- (The relevant university/higher educational institute will assist in finding suitable accommodation).
VII. Once admitted to a course of study the requests for change of the course/university will not be accepted. VIII. Medical Cover: Medical benefits will be provided free of charge at government hospitals other than dental related diseases.
IX. Scholarship holder should submit a health certificate issued by a government hospital of his/her country as per the attached format.
X. Every student is required to undergo HIV/AIDS test within a month after arrival.
XI. Scholarship holder is required to maintain a satisfactory performance of his/her studies until graduation and if not, scholarship can be terminated before the completion of the full period.
XII. In case the scholarship holder cannot complete the course during the prescribed period due to reasons of ill health or other unavoidable circumstances, considerations will be given to extend the scholarship by a maximum of one year on the recommendation of the university.
XIII. The rules and regulations imposed by each university for the university students will also apply to the scholarship holders.

5. Instructions:
1. Candidates who have already been abroad for study/training/specialization either on scholarship or on their own for a period exceeding six months are eligible to apply only if they have been in India for at least two consecutive years after returning from abroad as on 3.09.2014.
2 . A candidate may apply for only one subject of his/her choice
3 . Nomination of a candidate by Government of India does not guarantee final selection or placement. The Government of Sri Lanka will make its own selection out of overall nominees recommended by all the participating countries in the programme 4 . Application must be accompanied by copies of certificates regarding date of birth, diplomas, degrees, mark sheets in respect of all the examination passed alongwith experience certificate of Employment (if any) and one copy of recently taken passport size photograph with signature (to be pasted on application form).
5 . In case of candidates qualifying from Universities, where grades are awarded, the candidates are required to furnish exact percentage of marks and indicate the conversion formula.
6 . Candidates will be expected to have some knowledge of India and of the donor country
7 . It is very important that applicants who are in employment to which they wish to return after completion of their studies in Sri Lanka should have an assurance from their Organization that if their nomination is successful, they will be granted sufficient leave of absence. 8. Applications in subject fields other than those specified above will not be considered.
9. Applications of candidates who are abroad will not be considered.
10. Candidates who do not possess the requisite qualifications need not apply.

11. Since these scholarships are offered by Foreign Government, applications should invariably be submitted in English only.

12. Experience has to be supported by documentary evidence.
13. Candidates must have good knowledge of written and spoken English (The donor country reserves the right to request evidence of having passed an accredited English language test).
14. Candidates will not be allowed to appear for interview or given TA/ if he/she does not submit NOC from the Employer. In case of Government Servant, clearance of the Cadre Controlling Authority is mandatory.
15. Mere fulfillment of requirements as laid down in the advertisement does not qualify a candidate for interview. Interview letters in a particular subject are sent only to the best candidates after their applications are judged by a duly constituted Selection Committee of Experts.
16. Applications not in the prescribed proforma and application received after the prescribed date and incomplete applications will not be considered.
17. Documents submitted along with the application will not be returned. Hence, candidates are advised to send only attested copies of the certificates.
18. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.
19. The Selection committee’s decision about candidates for interview or selecting a candidate for nomination will be final. NO REPRESENTATIONS IN THIS
REGARD WILL BE ENTERTAINED.

Commonwealth Scholarships 2015

Online applications are invited from Indian nationals, through MHRD’s website http://mhrd.gov.in/  for nominations, of the award of Commonwealth Scholarships in United Kingdom tenable from September/ October 2015 for higher studies/research in the subjects mentioned below in the United Kingdom. Up to Sixty five (65) nominations are to be sent to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission for final selection to be made by them. Out of these not more than twenty six (26) are for doctoral studies.

ELIGIBILITY
The candidate should not be more than 40 years of age as on 10.10.2014 and fulfill the minimum qualifications as per Para (IV) below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The candidates must have completed tertiary education in English Medium

FOR MASTER’S DEGREE One should hold or able to produce the certificate of Bachelor’s Degree by October, 2015 in the subject field concerned (indicated above) securing 60% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 65% or above marks in Engineering and Technology, Science and Agriculture Group. **Candidates who wish to undertake postgraduate study in Business/ Management Studies should have taken the Graduate Management Admission Test (Princeton Test) before applying for the Commonwealth Scholarship. Details about GMAT may be obtained from G.M.A.T. Educational Testing Services, Box 966 – R, Princeton, NJ 08541, U.S.A. Candidates appearing for Scholarship in Economics and related subjects should be aware that a number of departments may require them, before admission, to pass the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) of which details may be obtained from Graduate Record Examination, Educational Testing Service, Box 955, Princeton, NJ 08541, U.S.A. Service, Box 955, Princeton, NJ 08541, U.S.A. Candidates whose native language is not English will be required to provide evidence that they have sufficient competence in English to study in the United Kingdom. Nominated candidates will be required to take the IELTS, for which they may contact local British Council Office. An IELTS test will only be considered valid if taken after 1st October 2014 and before 6th March 2015.

FOR Ph.D. DEGREE:- One should hold or able to produce the certificate of Master’s Degree by October 2015 in the concerned subject fields (indicated above) securing 60% or above marks in Humanities and Social Science group and 65% or above marks in the relevant subjects in Engineering and Technology, Science and Agriculture Group.

Awards are tenable at any UK institution of higher education with whom the commission has a part-funding agreement; a list of these institutions can be found at: http://bit.ly/cscuk-uk-universities.  Candidates are expected to state up to three preferred institutions(s) on the application form, but the final decision on host institution will be made by the Commission. Candidates are advised to submit independent applications directly to their preferred institutions at the same time as applying for this Scholarship. Where formal offers of admission have been obtained, these should be included with the application. All candidates applying for Doctoral Study must provide the commission with evidence of support from a prospective supervisor from atleast one of their chosen Institutions at the time of interview. So, if such support letter is not submitted at the time of interview, he/she will not be allowed to appear before the interview and no TA will be given.

A candidate may apply for only one subject of his/her choice. As a condition of award, the Commission or a host institution in Britain may also require a candidate to take particular English Tests/ training in English. The final selection of the nominated candidates rests with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission in U.K. Nomination of a candidate by Government of India does not guarantee final selection or placement. The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission will make its own selection out of overall nominees recommended by all the participating countries in the programme. The applications would be scrutinized and only shortlisted candidates would be called for interview. Applicants who have already been registered for Ph.D or completed/ about to complete Ph.D will not be considered.

Rashtriya Military Schools of India have invited applications for admission to Class VI & IX for academic session 2015-16. Rashtriya Military Schools located at Chail (Himachal Pradesh), Ajmer (Rajasthan), Belgaum (Karnataka), Bangalore (Karnataka) and Dholpur (Rajasthan). They are CBSE affiliated, fully residential public schools, which function under the aegis of Ministry of Defence.

Age: Only boys between 10 to 11 years of age for Class VI (born between 02 July 2004 and 1st July, 2005, both days inclusive) and boys between 13 to 14 years of age for Class IX (born between 02nd July, 2001 and 1st July, 2002, both days inclusive) as on 1st July, 2015 are eligible for admission. Six months relaxation in upper age limit is permissible for the wards of personnel Killed in Action.

Academic eligibility: For admission to Class VI, no previous education qualification is mandatory. For admission in class IX, a candidate should have passed Class VIII from a Govt/recognized school before the date of admission to a Rashtriya Military School. However, students studying in Class VIII are eligible to appear in the entrance test for Class IX.

Medical requirements: Selected candidates will have to undergo medical exam at the Command/Zonal and other Military Hospitals as nominated by the Director General of Medical Services prior to admission and only those found medically fit will be offered admission.

Reservation of Vacancies: 70% seats are reserved for wards of JCOs/OR of Army, Navy and AF (including ex-servicemen). 30% seats are for wards of officers of Army, Navy and AF (including retired officers) and wards of civilians.50 seats are reserved for wards of service personnel Killed in Action. In all categories, 15% and 7.5% seats are reserved for SC and ST.

Selection process: Selection to the School will be based on an Entrance Examination to be held in 21st December, 2014. The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class VI will be held on 21st December, 2014 (Sunday). The exam will be automated OMR based in subjects of Intelligence, General Knowledge, Mathematics and English of Class V standard.

The Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to Class IX will also be held on 21st December, 2014 (Sunday). The exam will be automated OMR based in subjects of English, Hindi, Social Science, Mathematics and Science of Class VIII standard.

Results will be hosted at www.rashtriyamilitaryschools.in.  Those who clear the CET and figure in the merit list will be required to appear for Interview at the respective Rashtriya Military Schools. Final merit list will be prepared after the Interview.

Application Form: Prospectus and Application forms can be obtained by hand from any Rashtriya Military Schools by paying Rs. 400/- (Rs. 200/- in case of SC/ST) through Cash/DD. Prospectus and Application form can also be obtained through post by forwarding self-addressed slip and Rs. 450/- (Rs. 250/- for SC/ST) (including Rs 50/- for postage) through Demand Draft payable at respective Rashtriya Military School, drawn in favour of ‘Principal, Rashtriya Military School’. List of Exam Centres and old question papers are given with application form. All applications will be routed through Rashtriya Military School only.

Last date of submission of completely filled application forms is 30th September, 2014.

Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents is taken up only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Admission Test.

Registration for appearing in the DNB-CET examination is to be undertaken
online at the website www.natboard.edu.in/cet
Application forms CANNOT be submitted in offline /printed copy by post.
Online applications can be accessed and completed till 23:59 hrs on 18th  October 2014 only

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR DNB-CET JANUARY 2015 ADMISSION SESSION:
Candidates who are in possession of MBBS degree/Provisional Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and possess permanent / provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India and have completed one year of internship/likely to complete on or before 31st January 2015 may apply for DNB-CET examination through online application.

Exam Fee: DNB-CET: Rs. 4500/-
The above fees is inclusive of examination fees and information bulletin.

Candidates can purchase Composite Information Bulletin-cum-Examination Fee Voucher from the selected branches of Axis Bank.
After the successful submission of the online application for DNB-CET, candidates will receive an Admit Card via email. Candidates may also log on to the website www.natboard.edu.in to download and print a copy of their Admit Card. The Admit Card will specify the Registration Number / Testing ID of the candidate, test date, time and location. Candidates are required to appear for the test at the specified test centre, on the date and time indicated on theAdmit Card.
