Applications are invited for admission to the Ph.D. programme of the Institute with Government of India fellowship for the academic session 2009-2010:

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) In Population Studies - (3 years full-time residential programme)

No. of Fellowships: THREE (likely to be increased)

Eligibility: Candidates having M.Phil/Master's degree in Population Studies of a recognised university with atleast 55% of marks. For part-time Ph.D., two years' experience after MPS or one year experience after M.Phil in Population Studies is essential.

Application procedure: Prescribed application form and information can be obtained from the Assistant Registrar (Academic), International Institute for Population Sciences, Deonar, Mumbai-400088 in person or by sending a self addressed Rs.25/- stamped envelope (25cm x 12cm) on or before October 23, 2009.

The completed application form along with necessary enclosures and a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 400/- (exempted for SC and ST candidates) by a Demand Draft, drawn from any nationalised Bank in favour of the Director, IIPS, Mumbai should reach the Assistant Registrar (Academic) on or before October 23, 2009. The Institute shall not be responsible for any postal delay. The processing fee may also be paid by cash at the cash counter of the Institute and the cash receipt should be attached along with the completed application set.

Fellowship :
The selected Indian students will be awarded a Government of India fellowship initially for one year only and is extendable on yearly basis as per rules of the Institute. Each eligible candidate with NET qualification for lecturership only either in Population Studies or its interdisciplinary subjects will be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 12,000/- per month for first and second years and Rs. 14,000/- per month for the third year respectively. Each fellowship carries a contingency grant of Rs.10,000/- for the first two years and Rs. 20,500/- for the third year. However, the candidates without NET qualification for lecturership shall be awarded the Government of India fellowship @ Rs. 6,250/- p.m. for first and second years and Rs. 7,000/- p.m. for third year respectively with an annual contingency grant of Rs. 10,000/-.
