Ph.D (L&IS) at Calcutta University Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta, has invited applications for admission to PhD programme in Library and Information Science for the Session 2011-12. Date and time of Admission test -25th October, 2011 at 12.00pm.
Admission test will be held on the following basis:
1st paper – General Studies (MCQ); 80 Marks; Duration: 50 min
2nd Paper – Library & Information Science (MCQ); 60 Marks; Duration: 40 min
3rd Paper – Subjective Questions on Library & Information Science; 60 Marks; Duration: 90 min.
(Each candidate must obtain 50% marks as qualification marks for each paper)
The result of written test will be put up on the notice board of the department on 4th November, 2011.
The viva-voce of 50 marks will be held on 9th November, 2011 in the Department.
The list of candidates for the PhD programme will be published on 14th November, 2011.

Calcutta University Ph.D (L,IS) Admissions
Candidates qualified in NET/SET/M. Phil exam, are not required to appear in the admission test but need to qualify in the interview. However, they should apply in the manner prescribed above within 20th October, 2011.
Filled in application forms, accompanied by the counterpart of a challan (obtainable from the Cash Counter of the University at the College Street campus) of Rs.100/- should be submitted to the office of the Department of Library & Information Science, Asutosh Building (Top floor), 87/1 College Street, Kolkata -700073 on all working days between 12 noon to 4 PM. The challan should necessarily be endorsed by the Office of the Department of Library and Information Science, University of Calcutta before deposition of fees at Cash Counter of the Calcutta University.
