BACKGROUND
The RGNIYD University has launched five Post-Graduate programmes during the year 2008 in five unique and futuristic disciplines like Youth Empowerment, Career Counselling, Gender Studies, Local Governance and Life Skills Education. These programmes are aimed at developing youth work as a profession. As a natural follow up to the launching of PG programmes, the University has launched Ph.D programmes in Youth Development and allied areas, with an inter-disciplinary approach. The RGNIYD in collaboration with National Foundation for Communal Harmony (NFCH) on a joint sharing will be launching the Certificate and Diploma courses on Social Harmony, National Integration and Sustainable Peace during National Youth Day/week 2012. The duration of the Certificate programme is three months and Diploma programme is six months.
Applications are invited for admission to the Certificate and Diploma Courses.
Thirty students will be selected for each course. The selected persons shall be exempted from tuition fee and hostel fee. The students should pay admission fee and examination fee only. Refundable caution deposit of Rs.1000/- needs to be paid by the students.
Objectives of the Certificate course
1. To equip the learners to understand the concepts and practices of secularism, pluralism, tolerance, social justice and harmony

1. To enable the learners to realise the concepts and practices of secularism, pluralism, tolerance, social justice and harmony
2. To sensitize the learners to the problems of communal, caste and ethnic discord and their consequences
3. To inspire the learners to their commitment towards strengthening the syncretic tradition of the Indian society and to promote national integration and
4. To inculcate the spirit and values of responsible citizenship and inter-faith relations in the society.
Expected Outcome:
To create a socially integrated and harmonious society in the country.

Eligibility:
Candidates who have passed Plus two or equivalent course from a recognized institution are eligible to apply for certificate programme.
Candidates who have obtained any Degree or equivalent course from a recognized institution are eligible to apply for Diploma programme. Those who passed certificate programme can also join the diploma through lateral entry.
Preference in admission will be given to NSS/NYKS/NCC officials, Programme Officers of NSS for Diploma programme and NYC/NSS/NCC volunteers/youth club/mahila mandal members, SHGs and NGO sponsored candidates, religious institutional functionaries - Young religious priests / teachers (e.g. Ulemas, Granthis, Monks, Munis, Pujaris, Rabbis, etc.), school teachers and anyone who is interested to promote Social Harmony, National Unity and Sustainable Peace
Admission procedure:
A selection test (aptitude test for 1 hour) will be conducted for the candidates for admission to the courses

Application Procedure
Interested and eligible candidates shall apply through the prescribed application form available at <www.rgniyd.gov.in> and take the print out of the form. The completed application along with the prescribed fee of Rs.500/- which can be paid through a demand draft drawn in favour of The Director, Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development payable at Sriperumbudur.
