DBT CREST AWARD: 2012-13
(Cutting-edge Research Enhancement and
Scientific Training award)
(FORMERLY KNOWN AS BIOTECHNOLOGY OVERSEAS ASSOCIATESHIP)
Department of Biotechnology invites applications for the DBT CREST AWARD 2012-13 (Department of
Biotechnology – Cutting-edge Research Enhancement and Scientific Training-
Award) formerly known as Biotechnology Overseas Associateship (BTOA)
programme.
DBT CREST AWARD aims to promote capacity building in cutting
edge areas of biotechnology and life sciences. The Award will promote and
support scientists of highest merit in their pursuit of skill enhancement in
scientific research/training in Overseas laboratories.
DBT-CREST AWARD for promotion of scientific
excellence in the state of Jammu & Kashmir: Five (5) DBT CREST AWARDS would be awarded to
scientists/Researchers holding permanent/regular position in Government
recognized research and academic Institutions/Universities actively engaged in
biotechnology or related R&D work in the state of J&K. All other
procedure/terms and conditions are as per DBT crest award. Candidates should
super scribe in the application and envelope DBT CREST AWARD for Jammu and Kashmir.
Applications are invited for the award of DBT-CREST (2012-2013) and DBT-CREST AWARD
for promotion of scientific excellence in the state of Jammu & Kashmir (2012-13)
for the period of one to twelve months. Broad research / training areas include:

Plant Biotechnology
b.
Crop Biotechnology
c.
Forest Biotechnology
d.
Conservation Biotechnology
e.
Microbial biotechnology
f.
Animal and veterinary biotechnology (Animal biotechnology including biotechnological
interventions in Feed and nutrition and animal health)
g.
Marine biotechnology and aquaculture
h.
Medical Biotechnology and human health (All areas related to medical biotechnology and
human health including stem cell, vaccines, biologics and biotechnological
interventions in nutrition and diagnostics, bioengineering and biodesign of
instruments, implants and devices)
i.
Bioenergy
j.
Environmental biotechnology
k.
Industrial biotechnology and biochemical
engineering
l.
Basic research in modern biology
m. Nano-biotechnology
n.
Bioinformatics and IT-enabled biotechnology
o.
Intellectual property and patent law
p.
Bioelectronics
q.
Systems biology and synthetic biology
r.
Biomaterials
Applications containing proposed
work in any other promising / upcoming areas related to life science and
biotechnology can also be considered
Eligibility Criteria
a)
Applicants should hold a Ph. D degree or equivalent degree in the area of
life sciences, biotechnology or biopharmaceuticals or M.D.
in medicine/ M. Pharma or M.Tech with good research contribution and 3 years
research experience.
b) Applicants should hold regular/ permanent
positions in Government recognized research and academic institutions /
universities and should be actively engaged in biotechnology or related R&D
work.
Note: Applications from persons working on temporary positions
(e.g. Research fellows or associates etc.) will not be considered.
c)
Age: Up to 55 years (as on last date of submission)
d)
Proposed area of work should be among the above mentioned areas or
related to life science or biotechnology field in general.
e) Host institute should be
internationally recognized academic/research institution and should be willing
to accept and extend necessary support to candidate for the proposed research
work. [Consent letter to be enclosed].
Procedure for Application:
Applications duly filled and
forwarded by the competent authority should be addressed to Dr. Sanjay Kalia
(Programme Officer), DBT CREST AWARDS (2012-13), International Cooperation
Division (IC-I), Department of Biotechnology, Room No. 814, 8th
Floor, Block-2, CGO Complex, Lodhi
Road, New Delhi-110003. Area in which applicant is submitting application should
be superscribed at the top of envelope.
A soft copy of the application also needs to be submitted at the E-mail: dbtcrest2011@nic.in.
Submission deadline: 31st December,
2012.
