Advertisement for Admission to Ph. D. Programme in
Education 2012
Applications
are invited for admission to Ph.D programme in Education, Department of
Education, University of Calcutta, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-27. Eligible
candidates (having Master’s Degree in Education/M.Ed) should apply in the
prescribed form to be downloaded from C.U.’s official website www.caluniv.ac.in along with an
application fee of Rs. 100/- (by cash ) through a challan obtainable from the
Cash counter, Alipur Campus. The filled up forms along with the requisite fee
by C.U. Challan are to be submitted between 12.00 and 2.30 pm on all working
days at the office of the Department of Education (3rd
floor ), Alipur Campus, C.U. The eligible candidates will have to
appear in a written examination of 2 (two) hours duration to be held in this Department
on 24.12.2012 at 1.00 pm. The list of
successful candidates will be displayed on the notice board of the Department on 11.01.2013.They
will have to appear at an interview, the date of which will be notified on the
Departmental notice board . Those candidates who have already passed U.G.C.
/CSIR(JRF) examinations/ NET/SET/SLET/ M.Phil/ Teacher Fellow in Education need
not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the
interview.
Reservation
policy will be followed as per State Government and University norms .
Entrance Test will
comprise of items from
1.
Philosophical Foundation of Education.
2.
Psychological Foundation of Education.
3.
Sociological foundation of Education.
4.
Research Methodology including statistical application of data.
5.
Writing a research/ project proposal.
Type
of question : 45 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each = 90 marks.
Writing
a research/ project proposal = 10 marks.
Qualifying
marks for the Admission Test is 50%.

for written test will be published on 20.12.2012 and the Admit Cards will be
issued to the eligible candidates only on 20.12.2012 & 21.12.2012 between
12 noon and 2.30 pm .

24.12.12 at 1.00 pm in the Department of Education, C.U.
e) Date of publication
of list of successful candidates in the Written Test is on11.01.2012 at 3.00
pm.
Requirements

Attested copy of age proof certificate.
3.
Attested copy of SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate.
4.
Attested copy of Mark-sheet(s) in M.A./M.Sc in Education/ M.Ed along with that
of any other pertinent certificate , if any .
5.
(a) Attested copy of qualifying certificate in NET / SET/SLET/ M.Phil. in
Education .
(b)
Attested copy of G.B. Resolution for F.I.P. Candidate.

c ) Certificate from the college that the Teacher Fellow will be released to
join the course work of one semester duration , to be scheduled by the
Department from time to time.

Two copies of Passport size Photograph.
