Degree Programme 2013
Applications
are invited for admission to the five year BS-MS Dual Degree Programme at
Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) at Bhopal,
Kolkata, Mohali, Pune and Thiruvananthapuram for the academic
session beginning August 20I3.
IISERs
IISERs
are devoted to world class education and research in the basic sciences. These
institutes have highly qualified and motivated faculty committed to excellence
in research and teaching. The institutes are designed to have fully residential
campuses with state-of-the-art research and teaching infrastructure.
BS-MS Dual Degree Programme
It is
a five year dual degree programme for bright and motivated science students who
have passed class XII in 2012 or are appearing for class XII exam in 2013. The
programme integrates classroom learning with research and provides ample scope
for multidisciplinary interactions. The training during the programme enables
students to pursue a career in academia, R&D institutes and science based
industries. All BS-MS students are eligible for a monthly scholarship of Rs.
5000/- awarded by KVPY/INSP1RE scheme as per DST norms, subject to consistently
good academic performance.
Eligibility
Candidates
satisfying at least one of the following three criteria arc eligible to apply:

Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) Basic Science Stream: Students
qualifying in SA (2011)/ SX (2012) / SB (2012) / SP (passed class XII in 2012).

Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2013: Students obtaining a
minimum aggregate of 60% marks in class XII and securing a place in the rank
list of Joint Entrance
Examination
(Advanced) for the admission to Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). For
SC/ST/PD candidates the required percentage of aggregate marks in class XII is
55%. >• State and Central Boards: Students who have passed class XII
in 2012 or arc appearing for class XII exam in 2013 in science stream with
cither
i. Aggregate
marks above or equal to the cut of percentage declared by DST as eligibility
for INSPIRE fellowship (http://www.inspire-dsl.gov.in/).
For OBC (Non-Creamy layer)/PD category candidates, there is 5% relaxation in
the DST cut-off. The cut-off for S(7ST candidates is 55% in class XII for all
boards.

note for the eligibility for Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) under
INSPIRE scheme.
Merely
meeting the eligibility criteria or call letter for counseling does not entitle
a candidate for admission to IISERs. Students applying through State and
Central Boards channel will be required to appear and qualify in USER Aptitude
Test.

for the admission are to be submitted online at www.iiser-admissions.in Please follow the
instructions for filling up the application form and other relevant details on
the website. There is a non-refundable application fee of Rs. 600/- (Rs. 300/-
for candidates applying under SC/ST category).
