Advertisement for Admission to Ph. D. Programme in Education,2013

Applications are invited for admission to Ph.D programme in Education, Department of Education, University of Calcutta, 1, Reformatory Street, Kolkata-27. Eligible candidates (having Master’s Degree in Education/M.Ed.) should apply in the prescribed form to be downloaded from C.U.’s official website www.caluniv.ac.in along with an application fee of Rs. 100/- (by cash ) through a challan obtainable from the Cash counter, Alipur Campus. The filled up forms along with the requisite fee by C.U. Challan are to be submitted between 12.00 and 2.30 pm on all working days at the office of the Department of Education (3rd floor ), Alipur Campus, C.U. The eligible candidates will have to appear in a written examination of 2 (two) hours duration to be held in this Department on 17.04.2013 at 1.00 pm. The list of successful candidates for interview will be displayed on the notice board of the Department on 30.04.2013.They will have to appear at an interview on 13.5.2013 (Exempted category) and 14.5.2013 (Test Category). Those candidates who have already passed U.G.C. /CSIR(JRF) examinations/ NET/SET/SLET/ M.Phil/ Teacher Fellow in Education need not appear at the written examination and can directly apply to appear at the interview. Reservation policy will be followed as per State Government and University norms .

Entrance Test will comprise of items from

1. Philosophical Foundation of Education.

2. Psychological Foundation of Education.

3. Sociological Foundation of Education.

4. Research Methodology including statistical application of data.

5. Writing a research/ project proposal.

Type of question : 45 multiple choice questions of 2 marks each = 90 marks.

Writing a research/ project proposal = 10 marks

Qualifying marks for the Admission Test is 50%.

a) No . of seats: 20

b) Last date of submission of application form: 19.3.2013.

c) List of eligible candidates for written test will be published on 11.4.2013 and the Admit

Cards will be issued to the eligible candidates only on 11.4.2013 & 12.4.2013 between 12

noon and 2.30 pm .

d) Date of Written Test 17.4.2013 at 1.00 pm in the Department of Education, C.U.

e) Date of publication of list of successful candidates in the Written Test is on 30.4.2013 at

3.00 pm.

f) Dates of Interview: 13.5.2013 (Exempted Category) & 14.5.2013 (Test Category).

g) Date of Final list of the selected candidates: 31.5.2013(Notice Board of the Department of Education).

( 2 ) Requirements at the time of Submission of Form

1. Application fee of Rs. 100/- by C.U. cash challan indicating ‘Application fee for Ph.D.

Programme in Education’

2. Attested copy of age proof certificate.

3. Attested copy of SC/ST/OBC/PH certificate.

4. Attested copy of Mark-sheet(s) in M.A./M.Sc in Education/ M.Ed along with that of any

other pertinent certificate , if any .

5. (a) Attested copy of qualifying certificate in NET / SET/SLET/ M.Phil. in Education .

(b) Attested copy of G.B. Resolution for F.I.P. Candidate.

( c ) Certificate from the college that the Teacher Fellow will be released to join

the course work of one semester duration , to be scheduled by the Department

from time to time.

(d) Two copies of Passport size Photograph.
