All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) has
invited applications for admission to the MBBS Course at AIIMS, New Delhi and
six other AIIMS at Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rishikesh and Bhubaneswar
for 2014-15.
Selection to AIIMS New Delhi and the other 6 AIIMS
will be based on a Competitive Entrance Examination to be held on Sunday the
1stJune, 2014, at Ahmedabad (Code 01),
Bengaluru (02), Bhopal (03), Bhubaneswar (04), Chandigarh (05), Chennai
(06), Dehradun (07), Delhi (08), Guwahati (09), Hyderabad (10), Jammu (11),
Jodhpur (12), Kochi (13), Kolkata (14), Lucknow (15), Mumbai (16), Patna (17)
and Raipur (18). It will be conducted in online as well as Offline (Pen &
Paper) modes.
Indian Nationals, who have attained or will attain
the age of 17 years as on the 31st of December, 2014 are eligible to apply.
Those born on or after 2nd January, 1998 are not eligible to apply.
Applicant should have passed the 12th Class under
the 10+2 Scheme/ Senior School Certificate Examination (CSBE) or Intermediate
Science (I.Sc) or an equivalent examination of a recognised University/ Board
of any Indian State with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology securing a
minimum aggregate of 60% marks in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in
case of General and OBC candidates and 50% for SC/ST applicants.
Those who have appeared or are appearing at the
qualifying examination with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main
subject and expect to pass the examination with required percentage of marks
are also eligible to apply and appear in the Competitive Entrance Examination.
However, their candidature will be considered only if they provide documentary
evidence of having passed the qualifying examination with the required subjects
and percentage of marks.
An examination of an Indian University or of a
foreign/university will be considered to be equivalent to the 12th class under
10+2 scheme/Intermediate Science examination by the Institute, only if the
candidate produces a certificate from the concerned Indian
University/Association of the Indian Universities to the effect that the
examination passed by him/her is considered by them to be equivalent to the
12th class under 10+2 scheme/Intermediate examination.
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) registered under
Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 are also eligible to appear in this test and
all terms and conditions applicable for Indian Nationals given in this
Prospectus will be applicable to them. The candidate will submit proof of
Registration as OCI under Section 7A of Citizenship Act 1955 to be eligible to
appear for this test. This stipulation is common to AIIMS New Delhi & Six
other AIIMS).
Indian
Nationals seeking admission to AIIMS New Delhi & six other AIIMS have to
apply online for Registration in the prescribed form available at www.aiimsexams.org
between 17.2.2014 and 5 pm on 17.3.2014.
OPH Candidates are exempted from any Fee.
Registration Fee for General/OBC Category applicants is Rs.1000/- and that for
SC/ST Category is Rs.800/-. Payment is to be made through Computer generated
Challan Form to be submitted in any branch of State Bank of India or using
Debit Card/Credit Card. Transaction Charges as applicable has to be paid by the
applicant.
Applicant should indicate his/her 1st choice of
centre in the application form. The centre of examination once opted will not
be changed and any request for such a change will not be entertained. In case
of any discrepancy and non-availability of centre in the city as opted, the centre
as allotted by AIIMS will be considered as final.
Applicant must give the preference in the
application form for online/offline examination, at the time of applying. They
would be accommodated for Online Examination subject to availability of nodes.
Those who cannot be accommodated for online examination would be accommodated
in the Offline mode. The online mode will be subject to availability of minimum
candidates in a particular centre failing which such candidates will be asked
to appear for the Examination through offline mode only or at other city and
decision of AIIMS will be final in this regard.
Status of Registration form can be known at www.aiimsexams.org from 16th May, 2014. Admit Card will also be
available on AIIMS website www.aiimsexams.org after 16th May, 2014. The admit
cards will be made available through internet only and not by post. In case the
status of a candidate’s Admit Card is not available on website, he/she should
immediately write to the Assistant Controller of Exams, AIIMS, New Delhi -110
068 along with full particulars of the Registration Form or through the email exams.ac@gmail.com .
The venue and time of the examination will be
communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card. No candidate will be admitted
to the examination unless he/she holds a valid Admit Card issued by the
Institute and a proof of their identification.
The Competitive Entrance Examination will be of 3½
hours duration and will have one paper consisting of 200 objective type
(multiple choice and reason-assertion type) questions from Physics, Chemistry,
Biology and General Knowledge with 60 questions each from Physics, Chemistry
and Biology (Botany and Zoology) and 20 from General Knowledge.
The general standard of the Competitive Entrance
Examination will be that of 12th class under the 10+2 Scheme/Intermediate
Science. No syllabus has been prescribed by the Institute for the examination.
Question paper will be provided either in English or in Hindi according to the
choice of candidates. A candidate must select in the space provided in the
application form whether he/she prefers to have the question paper in English
or Hindi. This choice cannot be changed later at any stage.
Each correct response will get a score of 1 mark.
Each incorrect response will get a score of -1/3 (minus-one-third). No credit
will be given for the questions not answered. More than one response will be
treated as wrong answer and negatively marked.
Candidate belonging to General category will be
required to score at least 50% marks in
the entrance examination to qualify. Those belonging to OBC category will be
required to score at least 45% marks and those belonging to SC/ST Categories
will be required to score at least 40% marks in the Entrance Examination. OPH
candidates will be required to secure a minimum of 50% marks in case of General
Category candidates, 45% for OBC & 40% for SC/ST candidates in the Entrance
Examination.
Based on the result of the Competitive Entrance
Examination, Common Merit list, Scheduled Caste candidates list, Scheduled
Tribe candidates list and Other Backward Classes candidates list will be
prepared. In each category (UR, OBC, SC & ST), the total no. of candidate to
be called for counseling will be 4 times the no. of seats available in each
category.
The list of candidates who qualify for counseling
to the M.B.B.S. course would be declared by 25th June, 2014. Roll numbers of
candidates who qualify for admission will be displayed on notice board of
Examination Section, AIIMS. The result will also be available on AIIMS website
www.aiimsexams.org. The Institute will not intimate individual unsuccessful
candidates regarding the result of Entrance Test. No correspondence in this
regard will be entertained. However, the mark of individual candidate will be
made available on AIIMS Website www.aiimsexams.org
on completion of the admission process.
The Counseling for allocation of all seven AIIMS
for admission to MBBS course will be held at AIIMS, New Delhi. Details of the
schedule will be intimated in the counseling letters which will be uploaded on
website www.aiimsexams.org
All reserved category candidates who qualify in the
open (general) merit list (4 times of the open category seats i.e. up to rank
number 1348) shall necessarily attend the counseling for open category seats.
If he/she is not present or if present, fails to or refuses to take a seat in
open category, he/she shall not be allowed for attending the counseling for
reserved seats.
Those candidates from reserved category, who
qualify & are allotted seats in open merit and wish to change his/her
choice of institute under respective reserved category, will be required to
participate in counseling for seats in these categories.
Foreign candidate nominated by the Government of
India are required to have obtained a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate in the
subjects of English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in their Intermediate
Science or an equivalent examination to be eligible for admission to the
M.B.B.S. Course. Foreign candidates are not required to appear at the
Competitive Entrance Examination. Foreign Nationals are admitted only to AIIMS,
New Delhi.
At AIIMS, New Delhi, there are 72 seats for Indian
Nationals and 1 seat for Foreign National. Out of these, 11 seats are reserved
for the Scheduled Castes, 5 seats are reserved for the Scheduled Tribes, 19
seats are reserved for Other Backward Classes and 37 seats for General Category
for Indian Nationals. A 3% reservation for Orthopaedic physically handicapped
shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats available. At the 6 AIIMS
like Institutions (Bhopal, Patna, Jodhpur, Rishikesh, Raipur and Bhubaneswar)
with intake of 100 students each, the reservation policy followed will be 7.5%
ST, 15% SC and 27% OBC, for Indian Nationals. A 3% reservation for Orthopaedic
physically handicapped shall be provided on horizontal basis, in the seats
available.
