Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Admission Notice 2014
NIMCET 2014, the Common Entrance Test for admission
to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) Programme at the National
Institutes of Technology (NITs) at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut,
Durgapur, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Raipur, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli and
Warangal for the year 2014-15 will be held from 10 am to 12 noon on
25th May 2014 (Sunday) at Agartala, Allahabad, Bhopal, Calicut, Durgapur,
Hamirpur, Jaipur, Jalandhar, Jamshedpur, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Rourkela,
Silchar, Srinagar, Surat, Surathkal, Tiruchirappalli, Warangal, Kolkata and
Delhi.
NIMCET-2014 will have one paper to be set in
English Language only containing 120 multiple choice questions from Mathematics
(50 questions), Analytical Ability &
Logical Reasoning (40), Computer Awareness (10) and General English (20). Each
correct answer will carry 4 marks. Each incorrect response will result in loss
of one mark. No deduction from the total score will, however, be made if a
question is unanswered. More than one answer indicated against a question will
be negatively marked. Candidates have to mark the responses in the OMR sheet
using black or blue ink ball point pen only. The syllabus for NIMCET is given

Applicant should be an Indian National having at
least 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10 point scale (55% marks or 6.0
CGPA on a 10 point scale in case of SC, ST) in BSc / BSc (Hons) / BCA / BIT of
minimum three years full-time or BE/B.Tech or equivalent from a recognized
University. Those who are appearing for final year/semester of BSc / BSc(Hons)
/ BCA / BIT of minimum 3 years or BE/BTech in the academic year 2013-14 are
also eligible to apply. Such candidates shall have to furnish the proof in the
form of a certificate issued by the head of institution where the candidate has
studied as per Annexure IV of the Brochure, that he/she is appearing for the
examinations during the academic year 2013-14 and can submit the proof of
fulfilling the eligibility criteria of NIMCET-2014 preferably at the time of
Counseling/Admission but not later than 15th September, 2014, failing which
their admission is liable to be cancelled by the respective NITs.
Those who have completed/completing BSc /
BSc(Hons)/BCA/ BIT of 3 years from Open Universities are also eligible to apply
provided their programme is approved by UGC / AICTE and Distance Education
Council (DEC) of Govt. of India.
The percentages of marks in qualifying degree are
to be calculated on the basis of marks obtained in all the subjects studied in
all the years including languages, optional and additional subjects studied, if
any. The aggregate of marks secured in all the subjects in all the years computed
using this method of calculation alone be considered by NIMCET-2014 for
deciding eligibility.
NIMCET 2014 application form is common for
appearing for Entrance Test, counseling and admission to MCA at all the eleven
participating NITs offering MCA programme. Candidates are not required to apply
separately to any NIT for admission to MCA programme.
Application can be submitted only online at http://nimcet2014.nita.ac.in , after
paying the processing fee through State Bank collect. The processing fee is
Rs.1,800/- for Open/OBC applicants and Rs.900/- for SC/ST applicants.
After payment of processing fee, applicant should
register on NIMCET-2014 website with login, password and then fill all the
details as per the Online Form. This can be done by creating a username and
password by themselves latest by 5 pm on 3.4.2014 IST. Documents (both soft and
hard copies) needed for completing the registration are (i) e-receipt generated
after paying processing fee through State Bank Collect (ii) Passport size
photograph and its scanned copy (maximum size: 30 KB), signature (maximum size:
10 KB), (iii) all certificates and marks memorandum of X Class and qualifying
degree.
After successful filling of data online and
pressing submit button, a complete application form with unique application
number will be generated. Applicant must quote this unique application number
in future correspondences till the test is conducted. Applicant is required to
take printout of the generated application form and send it with e-receipt of
the payment and all relevant documents to ‘The Secretary, NIMCET-2014, National
Institute of Technology Agartala, Barjala, Jirania-799046, Tripura (W)’ by
Speed Post/Registered Post to reach there on or before 17th April, 2014. All the supporting
documents as specified in check-list are to be enclosed with the printout. Two
copies of the application and e-receipt may be kept by the applicant for future
reference. Applicants must remember their login, password, security questions
and answers, e-mail id entered in the application till the end of NIMCET-2014
process.
Application forms received after 17th April, 2014,
even though the application is successfully uploaded and applications without
supporting documents or e-receipt will be summarily rejected.
Information regarding receipt of applications will
be put on the website http://nimcet2014.nita.ac.in
after 28th April, 2014. Candidates whose
particulars do not appear on the website may send an e-mail to nimcet2014@nita.ac.in or nimcet2014@gmail.com
before 04.05.2014 by forwarding a copy of the
generated application form, proof of payment of fees such as photo copy of
e-receipt and two passport size photographs, proof of posting etc.
Eligible candidates will get the facility to
download their Admit Cards between 9.5.2014 and 25.5.2014. Admit cards will not be sent individually by
post. In case the Admit Card is not available for downloading, the candidates
should send an e-mail to nimcet2014@nita.ac.in

between 10th May, 2014 and 15th May, 2014
giving details of the candidate’s application number and proof for remittance
of fee. Telephone enquiries will not be entertained.
Candidates should be present in the examination
hall of the test center before 9.30 am on 25.5.2014. Applicants must preserve
the Admit Card till the entire process of admission is complete. Request for
issue of duplicate Admit Card will not be entertained after the examination in
any case. Admit card number should be quoted in all subsequent correspondences.
The admission to MCA programme in all the 11
participating NITs will be based on NIMCET-2014 rank and the choice of
institute filled by the candidates. Those applicants satisfying eligibility and
qualifying criteria will be awarded with NIMCET-2014 rank. The ranks of the
eligible candidates will be announced on 11-06-2014. The candidates need to
download the rank cards from the website. Candidates who got a rank can login
and fill the choices of participating institutes in their order of preference
between 16-06-2014 and 23-06-2014. They can modify these choices (or) reorder
them any number of times before locking. It will not be possible to access
their choices after locking. All the candidates have to lock their choices on or before 5 pm
on 23.6.2014. The choices of all candidates will be automatically
locked by server at NIMCET-2014 at 5 pm on 23.6.2014.
Candidates will be offered seats based on their
choices in the order of NIMCET-2014 rank in three rounds of allotment.
Candidates who are allotted a seat must report to any one of the NIMCET 2014
participating institute on the dates specified in each of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd
rounds. Remote reporting, which is the reporting at any institute other than
the allotted institute, is permitted in first and second rounds of allotment
only. During this reporting, all the candidates have to get their original
academic documents, caste and relevant certificates verified and pay the
initial fee Rs.10,000/- in the form of a State Bank Collect and give their
option in the option form. They will also be issued a provisional admission
letter.
Candidates, who get seats in first round of
allotment and do not report at any reporting center between 30.6.2014 and
1.7.2014, will be permanently deleted from the database and will not
be offered any seat in subsequent rounds of allotment. Similarly, candidates
who get seats only in second round (but not in first round) and do not report
at any reporting center between 7.7.2014 and 8.7.2014 will be permanently deleted
from the database and will not be offered any seat in the subsequent rounds of
allotment. After the third round of allotment,
candidates are required to physically present at the latest allotted institute
for admission between 17.7.2014 and 18.7.2014 and attend the classes.
Candidates who got seat allotted/upgraded in any
round(s), and do not wish to join the institute, but wish to participate in the
final round of allotment must approach a reporting center, surrender the seat
between 21.7.2014
and 22.7.2014 by submitting a prescribed application. At a later
stage, these candidates will receive Rs.9,000/- either through DD or online
transfer in to their account based on their choice entered in the prescribed
application while surrendering.
After third round of reporting, vacant seats in all
Participating NITs will be published in the website http://nimcet2014.nita.ac.in on 25.7.2014. Candidates who were not allotted any
seat from first to third round of allotment and those who have surrendered
their seats are only eligible to fill fresh choices on 26.7.2014 for final round of
allotment. Final round of allotment will be done on 28.7.2014 and candidates, who are
offered seats in this round, must report to the allotted institute between 4.8.2014 and
5.8.2014 to attend the classes. The availability of seats at the
