MHRD Internship Scheme-2014
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD)
has invited applications under the MHRD Internship Scheme-2014 for Indian
Nationals.
The Scheme aims at allowing young students to be
associated with the Ministry of Human Resources, in formulation of policies,
implementation of projects and various initiatives in Higher Education sector
for mutual benefit.
The selected intern(s) would be expected to
supplement the process of policy analysis within the Ministry through desirable
empirical collection and collation of in-house and other information.
Applicant should be a citizen of India who is
pursuing graduation/post-graduation/research in Engineering, Education, Social
Sciences, Sciences, Humanities, Management, ICT, Law from any recognized
university/institution within India or abroad. Those in three/four year program
should have complete at least 2 years (four semesters) of course and those
pursuing five year integrated programmes should have completed three years (six
semesters).
The Domain/Areas available for internship include
the following. In respect of Higher Education (i) Technical Education,
including IITs, IIMs, Apex Bodies, Research and Development, Skill
Development/Vocational Education (ii) Central Universities, Language
Universities and Institutions (iii) Deemed Universities, Other Higher Education
Institutions, Apex Bodies, Rashtriya Ucchatar Siksha Abhyan (RUSA)
(iv) National Mission on Education through ICT, Distance Learning,
Apprentice Scheme (v) Copyrights, Book Promotion, Minority Education (vi)
Education Policy; Internationalization of Education, Teacher Education, Design
Innovation (vii) Scholarships. Those related to School Education &Literacy
include Elementary Education, Secondary Education and Adult Education &
Literacy.
There will be six batches of 2 months each as
follows. October-November (Batch I- Starting on 1.10.2014), December-January
(II-1.12.2014), February-March (III-1.2.2015), April-May (IV- 1.4.2015),
June-July (V- 1.6.2015) and August-September (VI-1.8.2015).
Internship shall be initially for two months only
which can be extended up to 6 months, if required in individual cases. A maximum of 6 slots shall be available for
offer to internship. A token stipend @ Rs.10000/- per month will be paid to an
intern after successful completion of the internship. No stipend will be paid
for the extended period. A certificate shall be issued to an intern on successful
completion of internship by Administrative Division on the recommendations of
the concerned Bureau Head. Intern shall be provided with a minimum logistic
support – office space with intercom telephone, internet and stationery items.
Interns will have to bring their own laptops.
Interns shall be attached in different Bureaux of the Ministry, taking
into account, as far as possible, the domain/area of interest expressed by
them. Bureau Head concerned will allocate the exact topic for study in the domain
rea of interest.
Intern shall be required to submit a brief
paper/report at the end of the assignment to the concerned Bureaux Head about
their learning experience. Interns shall be required to furnish to the
Ministry, a declaration of secrecy before the commencement of the Internship.
Ministry may instruct an Intern to terminate the Programme at any time, as
Ministry deems fit, without assigning nay reason.
An Intern may leave the Programme giving prior
notice of 7 working days, to the concerned Bureaux Head No Certificate will be
issued nor any Stipend shall be paid to such an intern.

in the prescribed Annexure I that can be downloaded from the MHRD website along
with their CV. Applicant should specifically state the specific batch for which
he/she wished to undertake the fellowship. Applications may be send by Post to
reach ‘Section Officer (Establish met IV), Room No.235, C-Wing, Shastri Bhavan,
New Delhi-110115 by 5.30 pm on 30th August, 2014 for those intending to take up
the Internships in Batches I to III and by 5.30 pm on 28th February, 2015 for
those desirous of taking the internship in Batches IV to VI.
Applicants are required to produce a letter from
their Supervisor/Head of the Department/Principal indicating their status in
the Institution and also conveying ‘No Objection’ for allowing their student to
undergo their internship Programme for the period for which he/she is selected.
In case the ensure is extended beyond 2 months, a new ‘No Objection’
certificate will have to be submitted by
the Intern.
Applicants will have to submit a Character
Certificate from the Head of their Institution/Department/Guide before taking
up the internship.
Applications complete in all respects will be examined
by a Standing selection Committee constituted by the Ministry and the selected
students will be given the offer of internship.
