The library has 2200 books, Indian and international journals with books, CD's, journal and education CD roms. In addition the students have unrestricted access to the central library of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research institute.


ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The completed application form with enclosures should be submitted to the college office
Students will be admitted to the first PG degrees course of any specialty based on their performance in the written entrance examination to be conducted by the university. The examination will consist of multiple choice questions covering the subjects of basic sciences including general anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology and all a clinical and non clinical departments

Eligibility for selection of students belonging to general category should secure a minimum of 50% marks and other category students should secure a minimum of 40% marks.
Selected candidates must pay fees by demand draft drawn in favour of the SBV university payable at Puducherry as detailed in the admission letter on or before the date mentioned therein, failing which the selection will automatically stand cancelled.
Students selected for PG courses shall execute a bond for agreeing to work in the university for minimum period of one year after passing the examination.

Eligibility Criteria:
Applicants should have passed their M.B.B.S from an institution recognized by MCI and must have obtained permanent registration. They should have completed / completing their internship by 30th April 2012.

Selection:
Students will be admitted to the first PC Degree/ Diploma Courses based on their performance in the Written Entrance Examination to be conducted by the University on 25-02-2012 at 10.30 AM. The examination will consist of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) covering the subjects of Basic Sciences including Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic Medicine & Toxicology and of Clinical Sciences including Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Community Medicine, Paediatrics, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Dermatology, Psychiatry, Radio-diagnosis and Radio-therapy.

Eligibility for selection:
Students belonging to General category should secure a minimum of 50% marks and other category students should secure a minimum of 40% marks.

Sri Balaji Vidyapeeth, Pondicherry, has invited applications for admission to Ph.D Courses in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology , Microbiology and Pharmacology, of August 2011 at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute.

Educational Qualification: (Ph.D. Full-time and Part-Time):
(a) Candidates who have studied under 10+2 pattern of education and qualified for the Master’s Degree in the concerned Subject and Degree of Master of Science of three-year duration in the School/Faculty of Medicine of this University or of any other University recognized by this University securing a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent grade).

(b) Candidates of Indian origin or overseas students who have qualified for a Master’s Degree of an accredited Overseas University securing a minimum of 50% marks (or equivalent grade).

Experience Required (Ph.D Part time - Internal):
(a) Teacher candidates working in College/University departments and such other Institutions recognized by SBV with at least one year of continuous teaching experience at Degree and /or post -graduate level in the subject concerned.

(b) Candidates under the regulations of part -time (Internal) shall be required to work in a department approved for research by this University while the Guide/Supervisor may or may not be working in the same department.
Interdisciplinary research for such part -time internal candidates shall be allowed only with the approval of the Chairperson of the Academic Council.

(c) Non-teaching staff employed in a time scale of pay in this University and other affiliated research Institutions provided that(i)the candidate has at least 10 years of work experience of which at least two years should be relevant to the field of research proof which is to be evidenced through two research papers published in standard journals OR (ii)the candidates has at least 5 years of work experience with M.Phil.in the subject concerned and published two research papers in standard journals in the subject concerned.

Experience Required (Ph.D Part time - External):
(a) Permanent academic staff of college/Universities/other educational Institutions of higher learning/Research & Development Laboratories and organizations with at least two years of continuous teaching /research experience.

(b) Technocrats, Scientists, Social Scientists & Scholars and Administrators with at least 10 years of experience in India or abroad and Educational qualifications as prescribed for Ph.D. full-time and Part-time programme, having sufficient exposure in research &development and generated useful data/patent/knowledge as evidenced by their contributions in their respective areas of research.

(c) A candidate possessing a master’s degree from an accredited overseas university and who is residing abroad or working abroad in a university/industry may also apply.

Entrance Examination:
There shall be an Entrance Test for all the candidates, Full-time, Part-time internal, Part-time external on 30-7-2011 at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Research Institute Campus.

Teacher candidates working in the Institutions admitted to the privileges of this University and other Universities, provided they are qualified, have at least one year of continuous teaching experience at Degree and/or Post -Graduate level in the subject concerned and granted leave for the required period, under Quality Improvement Program or equivalent program to do full -time Ph.D. are exempted from the admission test.

Eligibility for Admission to the Courses:

B.Sc (Nursing)
Candidate for admission to the first year Nursing Course should have passed the H.Sc (Academic / Vocational) examination conducted by the Board of Higher Secondary Examination of Tamil Nadu or any other equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% marks for SC/ST/OBC) in any one of the following three groups combinations and should have studied English as one of the Subjects.

P.B.B.Sc. (Nursing)
Candidates should have qualified in Diploma in Nursing Course of 3 1/2 years of duration from the recognized institutions of INC & TNNMC after completion of H.Sc.(10+2) or its equivalent. The candidate should be a registered Nurse and Midwife with minimum experience of two years as Nurse or one year as full -time PHN in the hospital / institutions after registration in State Nursing Council as of 31st July 2011.

M.Sc.( Nursing)
Candidate should have qualified with the degree of Basic B. Sc. (Nursing)/ P.B.B.Sc. (Nursing) of Pondicherry University or the degree of any other University recognized as equivalent there to by the Pondicherry University. Candidates should have obtained a minimum of 55% of aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST) in B.Sc (Nursing) / P.B.B.Sc (Nursing) course of minimum duration of 4 years / 2 years respectively of course study in the Indian Nursing Council recognized institution. The candidates should be a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife of any State Nursing Council with one year experience after graduation as on 31st July 2011.


Age Limit:
B.Sc.(Nursing) : The Candidate should be 17 years of age and above on 31st December 2011. No upper age Limit is prescribed.
P.B.B.Sc.(Nursing) / M.Sc.[Nursing): No age limit is prescribed
