Common Entrance Test 2009 - BA (Hons) Business Economics
Admission to the BA (Honours) Business Economics course shall be based on a merit list prepared through weightage given equally to the marks obtained in the 10+2 examination and performance in the Combined Entrance Test conducted by the University of Delhi.
Entrance Test will be conducted on Sunday, 21 June 2009 at 10:00 am
The intake capacity of each college is a maximum of 54 students.

Eligibility: General Category
The candidate must have passed Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (10+2) of the
Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi with pass in 4 subjects (English,
Mathematics and two Elective Subjects) or an examination recognised as equivalent thereto, with 55% or more marks in the aggregate of these four subjects. Rounding of fraction of a mark to determine eligibility is not permissible.
The four subjects considered are all from the academic stream. They are:
(1) English
(2) Mathematics or Business Mathematics
(3) and (4) any two from among the following:
Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Political Science, History, Geography, Business Studies, Commerce, Accountancy, Computer Science, Sociology, Psychology, Philosophy and Biotechnology.
No subjects from the vocational stream or subjects from the academic stream not listed above, would be considered for calculating the aggregate of Class XII marks.
Candidates who do not fulfill the above eligibility conditions will neither be admitted to the course nor permitted to appear in the Combined Entrance Test.
Reserved Categories
The eligibility conditions are the same as in (a) above except in the following:
1. Candidates belonging to SC and ST categories shall be allowed 5% relaxation of the marks in the minimum eligibility requirements. A separate merit list will be drawn for these students for the purpose of 15% and 7.5% reservation respectively.
2. Candidates belonging to OBC category shall be provided at least 18% of the total seats as per norms set by the University of Delhi and a separate merit list will be drawn for the purpose.
3. 5% of the total seats will be offered to CW category i.e. Children/widows/wives of armed forces personnel killed / disabled / died in action or on duty. They shall be permitted 5% relaxation in the minimum eligibility condition.
4. Candidates belonging to the physically challenged (PC) category shall be allowed 5% concession in the minimum eligibility condition for the test and separate merit list will be drawn for such students for the purpose of 3% reservation.
5. 5% of the seats are offered to foreign students. They shall apply to the Foreign Students Advisior, FMS, University of Delhi, Delhi - 110007 and are exempted from written examination. Other eligibility conditions remain unaltered.
6. The numbers admitted under (3), (4), (5) are supernumerary.
7. Candidates must produce certificate from the competent authority to claim benefits under the reserved categories.
Note:
1. Candidates who have appeared in the annual examination of the qualifying examination and placed in the compartment will not be eligible for admission for the current year.
2. Candidates who have appeared at the annual examination of the qualifying examination and subsequently reappear for improvement to acquire eligibility will not be considered for admission for the current year.
Issue of Bulletin of Information
Admission to BA (Hons.) Business Economics is centralized. The Deputy Controller of Examinations, University of Delhi South Campus, will conduct the Entrance Test with the help of the Department of Business Economics. The Bulletin of Information with the Application Form for Entrance Test will be available from offices of the ten colleges running this course, on payment of Rs. 400/- (Rs. 200/- for SC, ST and CW categories, on submission of a copy of certificate from competent authority); in cash/crossed bank draft in favour of the Principal, Ram Lal Anand College (Evening) payable at New Delhi. The last date for the issue of Bulletin of Information and submission of duly filled-in application is Monday, 15 June 2009. The timings would be 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for morning colleges and 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for evening colleges.
For out-station candidates, the Bulletin of Information is available on the internet on the website www.businesseconomics-du.org from where the application form and admit cards can be downloaded and sent by post to the Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi South Campus, Benito Juarez Marg, New Delhi - 110021 with a crossed bank draft of Rs. 400/- (or Rs. 200, as applicable) as mentioned above. The candidate's copy of the admit card along with the Bulletin of Information will be sent to the candidate by post.
The ten colleges will be the examination centres for the Combined Entrance Test. The College where the candidate deposits the duly filled-in-application form alongwith self attested copy of XIIth Class Mark Sheet shall normally be the centre of examination. In case, the full capacity of the examination centre is reached, candidates would be allotted another centre. Such additional examination centres would be provided in case of need, and the same would be communicated through notices at the colleges. However, the Department reserves the right to withdraw any centre and to allot an alternative centre to the candidates.
In case of any false attestation or falsified records, the candidate will be debarred from attending any course in the University or its colleges for next five years and a criminal case will be instituted.
Procedure for Counseling
1. Candidates will be called in order of rank and asked their preference of college from among the colleges in which seats are available at that stage. They will be allotted the college chosen by them from the ones available.
2. The students will be issued admission slips. They can approach their allotted college and seek admission within two days of counselling and get admission as per university rules.
3. Candidates who do not take admission during the stipulated time lose the right of admission to the course. Candidates not present when called to the counselling will not be entertained later.
4. At the second and third counselling, admitted candidates will be permitted a change of college subject to availability of seats. No change of college shall be permitted after 14 July 2009.
5. On 25 July, 1 August and 8 August, 2009, a notice on vacant seats (if any) will be put up on the websites along with ranks of eligible candidates and the procedure of seeking admission.
Fees:
Course fee for BA (Hons.) Business Economics is Rs 10,000/- per annum excluding charges levied by the individual colleges.
Refund of Course Fee
On withdrawal of admission, the course fee will be refunded in the following manner:
Upto 16th July 2008 — 100% Refund
From 17th July to 14th August 2008 — 50% Refund
After 14th August 2008 — No Refund

3. Attach self attested photocopies of Class XII marksheet; Class X date of birth certificate; and Reserved Category certificate (if applicable)

5. Enclose a self addressed envelope (8 x 10 inches)
