The Birla Institue of Technolopgy and Science (BITS) Pilani is an Institution declared as Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act. Applications are invited for admission in the second semester starting from January 2010 to the following programmes.

 

Integrated First Degree Programmes: B.E.(Hons.), B.Pharm.(Hons.), M.Sc.(Hons.), M.Sc.(Tech.) degrees. offered by the Institute at its Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad Campuses.

Admissions will be made purely on merit. Only Candidates who have appeared and obtained valied scores in BITSAT-2009 test conducted during May-June 2009 are eligible to apply. The merit position of the candidates for admission will be based on the score obtained by the candidate in the BITSAT-2009. Candidates should be have obtained a minimum of aggregate 80% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects in 12th examination, Details of the programmes offered in the different campuses eligibility criteria and the distictive featuers of the educational structure such as dual degree, Practice School etc. are given at the website: www.bitsadmission.com/fd/

Note: Since major admissions are made in the first semester, only a very few seats are available in the second semester, while more seats are available in B.Pharm. (Hons.).

2. Higher Degree Programmes: M.E. and M.Pharm.

Duration: Normally four semester
Eligibility: Canidates obtaining a minimum of aggregate 60% marks in teh qualifying degree examination.

(i) at BITS Pilani- Pilani Campus:
ME: Chemical, Civil (with specialization in Structural Eng./Infrastructure systems); Communication Eng.; Computer Science; Mechanical; Software systems. M.Pharm; Master Public Health (MPH).

(ii) at BITS, Pilani-Hyderabad Campus:
M.Pharm

Admissions to Higher degree Programmes are based o n the performance of the candidates in the computer based online test conducted by BITS followed by interviews of shortlisted candidates. The tests will be held at Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad. The tests will have objective type questions (multiple choices) nly and will be conducted during 19th - 20th December 2009.

Further shortlisted candidates will be asked to come to Pilani/Hyderabad on 4th Juanuary 2010 for interview at their own cost and the final selection is based on the performance in the tests and interviews. Admissions to MPH are based on the performance of the candidate in a written test, Group discussion and interviews to be conducted in Pilani on 4th January 2010.

Note: Offering of programmes will depend upon the minimum number of suitable candidates for the particular programme.

3. Ph.D.: Doctoral programmes at BITS Campuses in Pilani, Goa & Hyderabad

Input Qualification: Any Higher Degree of BITS or its equivalent with a minimum of 60% aggregate in the qualifying examination.

Any applicant with qualification equivalent to integrated first degree of BITS will be first examined for suitability to one of the higher degree programmes of the Institute. Such candidates may first be admitted to the ME/M.Phil programmes offered by the Institute subject the eligibility conditions.

Industries and R&D organizations collaborating with BITS can sponsor candidates to work for the Ph.D. under the Ph.D. aspirants scheme. Under this scheme such employed professionals having long experience and proven competence are admitted and will be allowed to pursue their research work at their own locations. Employed professionals working in industries holding any of the BITS degree may also be considered under this scheme.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:
Interested and eligible candidates should apply thorugh the prescribed application form available online at www.bitsadmission.com/ and take the printout of the filled form. The completed application form alongwith the prescribed fee should be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani-333031.

Application Fee: Rs.200/- for integrated first degree programmes, Rs.1000/- for higher degree programmes and Ph.D programmes. Details of methods of fee payment are available at the website while applying online.

Deadline for submission of the completed application form is 5.00 PM ON 30TH NOVEMBER 2009.
