Agriculture All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2011)

The 16th All India Entrance Examination for Admission (AIEEA-UG-2011) for admission to the 15% seats (tentative) in Bachelor Degree Programmes and award of National Talent Scholarships in Agriculture & Allied Science Subjects (other than Veterinary Science) in Agricultural Universities and 100% seats in Dairy Technology at NDRI Karnal, for Academic Session 2011–12, conducted by the Indian Council of  Agricultural Research (ICAR) will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 16.4.2011 (Saturday) at Anand, Bangalore, Bhubaneswar, Bikaner, Coimbatore, Chennai, Cochin, Delhi, Dharwad, Gangtok, Guwahati, Hisar, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jammu, Jabalpur, Karnal, Kolkata, Kota, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Mannuthy, Mohanpur, Nagpur, Palampur, Patna, Port Blair, Pantnagar, Pune, Pusa (Bihar), Ranchi, Raipur, Srinagar (Kashmir), Shillong, Solan, Tirupati, Udaipur and Varanasi.

The Programmes available for admission through AIEEA-UG-2011 include the Bachelor Degree programmes of four years duration in (i) Agriculture (ii) Horticulture (iii) Forestry (iv) Fisheries (v) Home Science (vi) Sericulture (vii) Agricultural Engineering (viii) Dairy Technology (ix) Food Science (x) Agricultural Marketing, Banking & Cooperation and (xi) Biotechnology.

National Talent Scholarships (NTS) are awarded based on the AIEEA-UG examination to all those candidates who take admission outside their state of domicile. Further not more than 40% candidates from any one state are admitted in any agricultural university/subject.

The available Programmes are categorized into two Streams, namely,
Stream-A: Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B: Mathematics.

STREAM-A (Agriculture/Biology): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor Degree Programmes in Agriculture, Horticulture, Fisheries, Forestry, Home Science, Sericulture, Food Science and Biotechnology.

STREAM-B (Mathematics): Candidates under this stream can seek admission for Bachelor Degree Programmes in Agricultural Engineering, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Marketing, Banking & Co-operation and also in Forestry, Food Science and Biotechnology at some of the Agricultural Universities provided Biology has been one of the subjects during 10+2 examination.

Candidate has to exercise option for one Stream at the time of submitting the application. The option once exercised cannot be changed subsequently.

Eligibility: Applicant should be an Indian National of at least 17 years of age but not more than 23 years as on 31.8.2011 (must have been born between 1.9.1988 and 1.9.1994). In case of SC/ST/PH categories, the upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years.

Candidate must have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary Examination of the Central Board of Secondary Eduation or any other examination within scope and standard found to be equivalent to the Senior Secondary Examination of an Indian University/Board after a period of 12 years of study. The last two years of such 10+2 examination should have papers in Physics, Chemistry and any one of the subjects from Biology/Mathematics/ Agriculture /Home Science (Intermediate with Agriculture and having not studied Physics and Chemistry as separate subjects may also be eligible for admission in some Agricultural Universities in States of Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh only. Intermediate with Home Science would be eligible for admission in limited Agricultural Universities). For admission in the Universities specifically located in non-Hindi speaking areas, candidate must have passed English as a core subject in 10+2 examination.

Candidate must have passed the qualifying examination securing not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General, OBC and UPS (Under Privileged States) categories and 40% marks in aggregate for SC/ST/PH categories. Those having a compartment/supplementary in any subject will not be eligible unless proof of having cleared the examination with requisite percentage is available.

Those appearing in the qualifying examination can also apply but would be required to submit evidence of having satisfied the conditions latest by the counseling date.

Candidates opting for Stream-A in the entrance examination should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Agriculture/Home Science while those opting for Stream-B should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Examination: The Entrance Examination will be conducted in two subject streams with Stream-A comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Agriculture/Biology and Stream-B comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

Questions for Physics and Chemistry will be common for both streams. Paper for 'Stream–A' will carry questions on Biology and Agriculture out of which the candidate has to attempt/opt/choose only one subject, either Biology or Agriculture. 'Stream–B' paper will have questions from Mathematics.

Question paper will be in English and Hindi. In case of any variation in English and Hindi versions of question(s), English version will be taken as the final and correct version.

Syllabus: Syllabus for the Examination is given at Annexure-I of the Prospectus. Question paper will have 180 multiple-choice objective type questions, with 60 questions from Physics (numbered from 1-60), 60 questions from Chemistry (61-120) and 60 questions from Agriculture/Biology/Mathematics (121-180). Each question will have four options. Candidate has to choose the correct answer and mark in the OMR answer sheet by shading/darkening the corresponding circle/bubble against the serial number of the question with HB pencil or black ball-point pen.

Marking Scheme: The maximum marks for the paper is 720. Each correctly answered question will earn four marks. For each incorrect answer one mark will be deducted from the total score. Question with no response indicated will not be awarded any mark and there will be no negative marking for that question. More than one answer indicated against a question will be deemed as incorrect answer and will invite negative marking.

Application Fee: Application fee is Rs.400/- for General/OBC/UPS category applicants and Rs.200/- for SC/ST/PH categories.
