Kerala B.Ed Admissions 2011-2012
The LBS Centre for Science and Technology has been accepting online applications for State-level admission to B.Ed. courses for the year 2011-12, conducted at government/ aided/ self-financing colleges. 85 per cent seats in the aided training colleges and 50 percent merit seats in the private self-financing colleges will be filled on the basis of rank-list prepared by the LBS Centre.
Approximately 11,000 B.Ed. seats will be filled through the single-window system. In the government training colleges 560 seats and in the aided training colleges 2,805 seats are filled from this rank-list.
In the private self-financing colleges 15,292 seats are available for the B.Ed. course from which 50 percent merit seats will be filled from the rank-list prepared by the LBS centre. Those who secure admission in the government training colleges and merit seats in the aided training colleges, have to pay Rs.1,500 as tuition fee. But in the private self-financing colleges, those who are admitted in the merit seats have to pay Rs. 29,000 as tuition fee. This year, 10 per cent seats in the management seats of the private self-financing colleges are earmarked for the students of other States.
Optional subjects available for the regular one year B.Ed. courses are English, Malayalam, Hindi, Arabic, Tamil, Sanskrit, Urdu, Mathematics, Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science, Geography, Commerce, Information Technology and Computer Science.
Eligibility :
There is no upper age-limit for admission to B.Ed. courses. The optional subject for B.Ed. course should be the same as the main subject for graduation. Those who have passed the BA/ B.Sc. degree examination under 10 + 2 + 3 pattern with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate for part I, II & III in arts and science subjects are eligible to apply.
For B.Ed. English, the entry qualification is BA degree with English language and literature/ functional English/ BA Communicative English with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with 50 percent of marks for Part I English and not less than 50 percent marks for Master's degree in English language and literature.
Malayalam: BA degree with Malayalam language and literature with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA / B.Sc. with at least 50 per cent of marks for part II Malayalam and not less than 50 percent marks for Master's degree in Malayalam language and literature.
Hindi: BA degree with Hindi language and literature with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with at least 50 percent marks for Part II Hindi and not less than 50 percent marks for Masters degree in Hindi language and literature.
Arabic: BA degree with Arabic language and literature with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with at least 50 percent of marks for part II Arabic and not less than 50 percent marks for Master's degree in Arabic language and literature.
Tamil: BA degree with Tamil language and literature with 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with at least 50 percent marks for Part II Tamil and not less than 50 percent marks for Master's degree in Tamil language and literature.
Sanskrit: BA degree with Sanskrit language and literature with 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with 50 percent marks for Part II sanskrit and not less than 50 per cent marks for Master's degree in Sanskrit language and literature.
Urdu: BA degree with Urdu language and literature with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA/ B.Sc. with at least 50 percent marks for Part II Urdu and not less than 50 percent marks for Master's degree in Urdu language and literature.
Mathematics: B.Sc. degree with Mathematics/ Statistics/ Applied Statistics as main with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate. Candidates with Statistics/ Applied Statistics should have studied Mathematics as one of the subjects.
Physical Sciences: B.Sc. degree with Physics/ Chemistry/ Polymer Chemistry/ B.Sc. Geology / Petrochemicals / Biochemistry / Industrial Chemistry main with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate.
Natural Science: B.Sc. degree with Botany / Zoology/ Biochemistry / Plant Science / Home Science with Zoology or Botany as subsidiary / aquaculture with Biochemistry and Zoology as subsidiaries / Biotechnology / Microbiology with at least 50 per cent marks in aggregate.
Social Science: BA degree with history/ Arabic and Islamic History main with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate or BA degree with Geography/ Politics/ Economics/ Sociology/ Psychology/ Philosophy/ Western Asian studies under Part III and with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate.
Geography: Bachelor's degree with Geography as main subjects under part III with at least 50 percent marks in aggregate.
Commerce: M.Com degree with not less than 50 percent marks alone are eligible for admission.
Information Technology: MCA / M.Sc. computer science/ M.Sc. Electronics with a minimum of 50 percent marks.
Computer Science: MCA / MSc Computer Science / Electronics with a minimum of 50 percent marks. Relaxation of 5 percent marks is allowed to SEBC and OEC applicants and Blind candidates.
How to apply :
Those who wish to get B.Ed. admission, should first remit Rs.400 in any of the Federal Bank branches in Kerala and get their application number and security key for online registration at www.lbscentre.org or www.lbskerala.com . The candidate should click on the link admission to B.Ed. degree course – 2011 and register by using the application number and security key.
A registration ID will be generated on completing the online registration. A print-out of the application along with attested copies of the relevant certificates should be sent to the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, Nandavanam, Thiruvananthapuram – 33 so as to reach the him on or before August 31. Detailed instructions are given in the prospectus which may be downloaded from the website www.lbscentre.org .
Online registration facilities will be provided upon August 31. But the application fee will be accepted by the Federal Bank only upto August 27. Course and college option can be made after publication of rank-list. Submit only single application for admission to various B.Ed. courses offered in various colleges. Rank-list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination.
