LLM-PhD/JSD/PhD Admission 2012

NUSRL, Ranchi invites Applications from interested students for following Programs:

(A)  Integrated JSD Program [Three-Year Program]

(B)  Integrated LLM-PhD Program [Four-Year Program]

(C) PhD Program [Two-Year Program]

Note: The details of the Programs are mentioned at the end.

(I)  Admission Process:

(A)   Last Date for Filling-up and submission of Applications: September 22, 2012 (Saturday).

(B)   Entrance Test to be held on October 13, 2012 (Saturday)

(C)   Declaration of Results of the Entrance Test: October 18, 2012 (Thursd3ay)

(D)   Date of Interview and Group Discussion: November 10, 2012  (Saturday)

(E)    Declaration of Final Result: : November 17, 2012 (Saturday)

(F)    Duration for Payment of Fee: December 17, 2012 to December 22, 2012

(G)   Duration for filling-up the Admission Form: December 24, 2012 to December 29, 2012

(H)   Commencement of Semester I:  January 03, 2012 (Wednesday)

(II) Application Process:

1)    Applicants should download the Application form from the University Website or may collect the same from the University in person.

2)    Duly filled-in Applications must reach the office of the Registrar, National University of Study and Research in Law, Ranchi, BIT Polytechnic Campus, BIT Mesra, Ranchi, Jharkhand-835217 latest by 4 pm on September 22, 2012 (Saturday).

3)    All Applications must be attached with a Bank Draft of Rs. 2500/- as Application Fee. (The Draft of any Bank must be payable to Registrar, NUSRL, Ranchi and Payable at Ranchi, Jharkhand.)

4)    Applications shall be rejected under following circumstances:

(a)  If it is submitted without the requisite fee. (Bank Draft Only)

(b) Incomplete Applications.

(c)  False Information, and

(d) Applications received beyond the due date.

5)    The Hall Tickets for appearing in the Entrance Test shall be sent on the Address for Correspondence mentioned by students in their Application Forms.

6)    The Entrance Test shall be held at NUSRL, Ranchi on the due date.

(III) The Details of the above-mentioned Programs are as follows:

(i) Integrated JSD Program

This is a Three-Year Integrated Program in which the Students shall be awarded the Doctor of Juridical Sciences on the successful completion of the Program. It shall consist of Six Semesters as explained below:

1 Semester I Three Compulsory Courses  and One Course from the Field of Specialization

2 Semester II Three Compulsory Courses and One Course from the Field of Specialization

3 Semester III Four Courses from the Field of Specialization

4 Semester IV Dissertation Work and One Elective Course

5 Semester V Thesis Writing

6 Semester VI

Areas of Specializations

1)    Intellectual Property Rights: It shall consist of Six Courses spread-over First Three Semesters as mentioned above.

2)    Business Law: It shall consist of Six Courses spread-over First Three Semesters as mentioned above.

3)    Criminal Law: It shall consist of Six Courses spread-over First Three Semesters as mentioned above.

Note: Specializations shall be offered according to availability of adequate Students in the Course and Guides.

(ii) LLM-PhD Program

This is a Four-Year Integrated Program in which the Students shall be awarded an LLM at the completion of Two-Year and the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on the successful completion of the Program. It shall consist of Eight Semesters as explained below:

2 Semester II Three Compulsory Courses and One Course from the Field of Specialization

3 Semester III Four Courses from the Field of Specialization

Thesis writing

6 Semester VI

7 Semester VII

8 Semester VIII

Areas of Specializations

(iii) PhD Program

It is two-year (Four Semesters) Research Program which is completely residential. The Students shall be awarded the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) on the successful completion of the Program.

(IV) Eligibility for the Programs mentioned above:

(a)  Four-year Integrated PhD Program

Eligibility: Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% in aggregate or an equivalent grade point in the qualifying examination.

(b) Three-year Integrated Doctor of Juridical Sciences(JSD)

Eligibility: Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a recognized University with a minimum of 55% in aggregate or an equivalent grade point in the qualifying examination.

(c)  Two Year PhD Program 

Eligibility: LLM or Post Graduation in the concerned discipline or subject, from an Indian or foreign University, having at least 55% in aggregate or equivalent grade in the qualifying examination.

(V)  Availability of Seats:

(VI) Important Information for the Applicants:

1)    All research programs are completely residential.

2)    The students should apply only in the Application Form prescribed by the University.

3)    The names of shortlisted candidates for final Admission shall be displayed on University website.

4)    Students who have been awarded UGC-JRF and UGC-NET in the relevant subject shall have to directly appear for Group Discussion and Interview on the due date. However, they shall have to apply in the prescribed application form and pay the Application Fee as mentioned in the Application Form. Accordingly, they must complete the Application formalities.

5)    The details of Fee for the entire program are available on the University Website.
