The
National Common Written Test of Tata Institute of Social Sciences -TISS
NATIONAL ENTRANCE TEST (TISSNET)- for admission to various Post Graduate
Programmes of the Institute will be held in online format on 13th January 2013
in more than 25 centres in all parts of the country. Tata Institute of Social
Sciences, a Government of India funded Deemed University has 9 schools and 3
independent centers at the Mumbai Campus, and campuses in Tuljapur
(Maharashtra), Guwahati and Hyderabad.
TISS
has invited applications for 39 highly competitive, socially relevant
M.A/M.Sc/M.P.H/M.H.A Programmes in inter and trans-disciplinary areas of Social
work, Health, Management, Development, Habitat and Climate Sciences.

Applicant
should hold a Bachelor’s Degree of a minimum of 3 years duration or its
equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 year bridge course pattern
of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years
formal education) from a recognised university, in any discipline. Those who
will complete all the requirements of their final year Bachelor’s Degree
examinations by June 9, 2013 (Saturday), are also eligible to apply to all the
programmes (except the four programmes offered by the School of Health Systems
Studies) provided they have successfully completed their first and second
years, if the Degree course is of 3 years; and the first, second and third
years, if the Degree course is of 4 years duration.
Those
applying for the M.A. Education (Elementary) programme should complete all the
requirements by May 11, 2013. In such cases, admission to any of the Master’s
Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional. If a provisionally
admitted student fails in the final year examination, the offer of provisional
admission automatically stands cancelled.
Those
applying for the Master of Public Health Policy, Economics and Finance; and
Master of Public Health in Social Epidemiology programmes should have a (i)
Master’s degree in any discipline or (ii) Bachelor’s degree in Medicine,
Paramedical or other 4-year programme like Pharmacy, Veterinary Sciences,
Engineering, etc.
Those
applying for the Master of Health Administration and Hospital Administration
should have (i) successfully completed their graduate Degree in any discipline
or (ii) Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine, Paramedical, or other 4-year programmes
like Pharmacy, Veterinary sciences, Engineering, etc.
Those
who are in their final year Bachelor’s Degree programme are not eligible to apply
for admission to any of the Master’s Degree programmes conducted by School of
Health Systems Studies (Health Administration, Hospital Administration; Public
Health in Social Epidemiology and Public Health in Health Policy, Economics and
Finance).
Those
who apply for the M.A./M.Sc. in Urban Policy and Governance Programme should
have a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Management, Physical
Sciences, Geography, Planning, Law or Social Sciences, with interest
habitat-related issues/sectors.
Medical
Graduates applying for any of the Programmes should be completing their
internship on or before June 9, 2013 (Saturday).
For
M.A. Disability Studies and Action programme, preference will be given to those
who have a Graduate Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Special Education,
Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy or Disability
Rehabilitation-related fields. Graduates with at least 2 years experience in
the field of disability or social welfare will be preferred.
Only
those with a Master’s Degree and work experience will be considered for the
one-year, full-time Master’s Degree Programmes in Management of Voluntary
Organisations and Mental Health. Those who do not possess a Master’s Degree and
a minimum 3 years experience need not apply.
For
M.A. in Applied Psychology with Specialisations in Counselling Psychology and
Clinical Psychology, preference will be given to those candidates who have a
Graduate Degree/B.A. in Psychology; B.A./B.Sc. Home Science with specialisation
in Child/Human Development; B.A. Social Work, B.A. General – with minimum three
papers in Psychology. Those who will appear for the final year B.A. examination
in 2013, with the above subjects and are awaiting results are also eligible to
apply.
An
applicant can apply for a minimum of one and a maximum of five programmes
across the four TISS campuses. However, they can opt for only a maximum of
three programmes at TISS Mumbai.
The
process of selection includes different components including (i) National
Common Written Test carrying 100 marks (ii) Pre-Interview Test prior to the
Personal Interview carrying 50 marks and (iii) Personal Interview carrying 75
marks (Total 225 marks)

The
ONLINE test will have multiple choice objective type questions. One with
rudimentary knowledge of working with computers or cell phones can do the test.
In case any candidate desires to do the test on paper, this must be indicated
in the application form.
The
objective test will have questions related to Social Sensitivity; Knowledge on
Contemporary issues; Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning. Model question
paper for National Common Written Test will be placed on TISS website on October 30, 2012.
Those
with visual impairment will be given an option to have a Reader/Writer and a
paper-pen test be conducted at designated centres, which will be announced
closer to the test dates. In case the candidate is selected for more than one
programme after National Common Entrance Test, Pre-Interview Test and Personal
Interview, admission will be offered to the programme higher in the order of
preference.

Application
Submission: Application has to be submitted online through the E-application
only, available at website https://admissions.tiss.edu
Those
from remote places where no Internet and Telecommunication facilities are
available can get a printed copy of the application form from the Institute by
sending a request for printed form by Speed Post with application fees.
Unemployed SC and ST candidates, whose parent’s/guardian’s income is less than
Rs. 2 Lakh and Rs. 1.45 Lakh, respectively, are exempted from paying the
Application Fee. They should apply through the E-application, and if they have
no access to the internet or are from remote places, they can send a request
letter without the payment challan and stamped envelope, but with a plain
self-addressed envelope and copies of Caste and Income Certificates attested by
any School Headmaster or a Principal of College or a Gazetted Officer. Details
of the Fee to be paid depending on the number of Programmes applied, is
available at the website and Information Brochure.
Last
date for filling the form online is 10th November 2012.

Applicants
belonging to SC, ST, OBC, PWD and minority communities have been invited to
attend three day orientation Proramme 14th to 16th December 2012 in different
regions of the country. Candidates from these categories must indicate the
place they would like to attend the orientation programme. An invitation letter
from the Office of Dean, Social Protection will reach them 2 weeks prior to the
