BFA and MFA (Bharatanatyam) Distance Education Admission Notice 2012

Applications have been invited by SASTRA University, Tirumalaisamudram, Thanjavur - 613401, Tamilnadu for admission to BFA and MFA (Bharatanatyam) distance courses of academic year 2013-14.

Eligibility

 Bachelor of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam (+2, Diploma in Dance of any recognized institution including Nrithyodaya.)

 Master of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam (Any Bachelor Degree from a recognized University) with a fundamental knowledge of Bharatanatyam

Duration of the Programme

 Bachelor of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam - 3 Years (80 contact hours per year)

 Master of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam - 2 Years (80 contact hours per year)

In any case the course will have to be completed within a maximum period of five years after the entry into the course.

Medium of instruction

 Bachelor of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam - English/Tamil

 Master of Fine Arts Bharatanatyam - English/Tamil

Teaching Methodology

The methodology of instruction is different from the conventional system. In Distance Learning, specific emphasis is laid upon self-study and the learning process takes place with the help of SIM or printed materials rather than faceto-face communication. However, mode of instruction is through the following:

 Self - Instructional Materials (SIM): Printed materials for both theory and practical components.

 Contact programmes: They are arranged by the University at the study centres. (The study centre details will be informed after admission)

Credit System

Credit system will be followed for the distance education courses of SASTRA.

Each credit is equivalent to 30 study hours comprising all learning activities like learning, comprehending the study materials, contact sessions etc. Thus a four credit course involves 120 hours of study. Completion of an academic programme requires successful clearing of term – end examination.

Programme Fee

Bachelor of Fine Arts, Bharatanatyam - Rs.15,300/- (Per Annum)

Master of Fine Arts, Bharatanatyam - Rs.18,000/- (Per Annum)

One time Admission fee : Rs.1000/- to be paid during the time of admission.

The candidates have to submit the filled in application form along with the programme fee in the form of Demand Draft in favour of SASTRA UNIVERSITY payable at Thanjavur. Addressed to The Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Sastra University, Thanjavur – 613 401.

After the selection, the fee once paid is neither refundable nor can be adjusted to subsequent programmes. The University reserves the right to change the fee structure.
