Procedure
to Apply - January 2013 Session.
Candidates are requested to go
through the list of vacancies available and approach the Institution and the
Department as per their convenience and choice. They can have discussions with
the available Supervisors about doing the Ph.D Programme in the areas of their
interest and the resources available.
Then application can be downloaded
from the website. It can be duly and completely filled in and to be forwarded
by the Head of the Department and the Head of the Institution, where the candidate
intends doing research.
In addition to the above, the
application is to be signed by the employer of the candidate, for part
time Ph.D. Scholars.
The Completely filled in
application along with a DD of Rs.1000/- as application fee (DD in favour of “
VINAYAKA MISSIONS UNIVERSITY ” Payable at Chennai) must be sent to

Important
dates - January 2013 Session
a) Last date for receipt of
completely filled in application : 21.01.2013
b) Date of Entrance Examination
( Venue will be intimated after
scrutinizing the applications ): 24.02.2013
The entrance examination will comprise of
two parts
Part 1 : 10.00 am – 12.00 Noon ( Candidates
with M.Phil degree in the respective
Faculty & discipline are exempted from
this Part-1 examinations ) :
Written Examination having 100 Multiple
Choice Questions in the subject of the
candidate’s PG Degree.
Part 2 : 2.00 pm – 5.00 pm ( For all candidates
) on the same day:
Oral presentation by the candidate, either
on paper or across the table or on a
Board (No power-point presentation
permitted ) in front of a panel of subject
experts for about, 10 -20 minutes on any
topic of candidate’s choice
(Preferably in the chosen area of
research).
c) Date of Intimation of Provisional
Selection:
Candidates who are selected in the entrance
examination will be intimated by 09.03.2013
d) Upon receiving the Communication, the
Candidate shall pay in PERSON,
A)
i) a Provisional Registration fee of
Rs.10,000/- and
ii) First year tuition fee of Rs 15,000/= (
for applicants who are working in any of the Institutions under Vinayaka
Missions University ) and Rs 30,000/= for others
As a single DD in favour of“ “VINAYAKA
MISSIONS UNIVERSITY” payable at Chennai on or before 25.03.2013.
And also
B)
you will be required to submit the
following ORIGINAL documents along with 3 sets of attested photo copies :
1. PG Degree Certificate
2. PG Degree Mark sheets
[ UG and PG (or PG Diploma) Registration
Certificates with the respective
Council(s)
– in the case of the faculties of MD / MDS
/ MS, in the place of 1 & 2 above]
3.Transfer Certificate
4. Migration Certificate ( If the highest
degree so far, is from a University other than
VMU )
5. No Objection Certificate from present
employer, if not furnished already in the
Ph.D. Application
6. M Phil Degree Certificate ( if
applicable )
7. M Phil Degree Mark sheets( if applicable
) and
8. Photo 3 Nos ( stamp size )
Originals of documents 3, 4 and 5 will be
retained by the University and other originals
will be handed back to the candidates
immediately after verification and at the time of
remittance of the DD itself.
e) After the provisional Registration, the
candidate shall be appearing before a Doctoral
Committee which will be duly constituted by
the Vice-Chancellor at Salem for which the
date, venue
and details will be intimated.
