ADMISSION NOTIFICATION
Applications
are invited for admission to the BBA LL.B.(Hons)/LL.B./LLM Programmes of the School
of Indian Legal Thought, for the Academic year 2013-‘14..
The
details of the Programmes and eligibility conditions are as follows:
1. BBA LL.B (Hons.) 5 year programme
General Category: Higher Secondary or +2
Examination recognized by Mahatma Gandhi University or any other examination
recognized as equivalent thereto with not less than 50% marks in
aggregate. The candidate should be below
20 years of age as on 1st July of the year concerned.
SC / ST: Higher Secondary or +2 Examinations
recognized Mahatma Gandhi University or any other examination recognized as
equivalent thereto with not less than 45% marks in aggregate. The candidate should be below 21 years of age
as on 1st July of the year concerned
2. LL.B [3 year programme] (4 pm to 9 pm, Monday to
Saturday). For the VI Semester the
timing is from 10 am to 5 pm.
General Category: BA / BSc / BCom or any other
Bachelors Degree from M.G. University or from any other University recognised
by Mahatma Gandhi University with not
less than 45% marks in aggregate.
SC / ST: BA / BSc / BCom or any other Bachelors
Degree from M.G. University or from any other University recognised by Mahatma
Gandhi University with not less than 40%
marks in aggregate.
3. LL.M
General Category: LL.B with not less than 55% marks in the
aggregate.
SC / ST: LL.B with not less than 50% marks in the
aggregate.
Selection
Process:
LL.B. and BBA LL.B
(Hons.) :
Selection of students is based on the marks secured in
the Entrance Test. The Entrance Test for both the programmes
shall be of 2 hours duration carrying 100 marks
and is intended to test the
General Knowledge,
Logical Reasoning, Language skills etc of the candidates.
LL.M. : Selection is based on the marks secured in
the Entrance Test and in the Interview in the proportion of 90: 10.
The applicants who have
obtained 10+2 or graduation through Open University System directly without
having any basic qualifications for prosecuting such studies are not eligible
for admission to law programmes.
All candidates including
those who are employed shall give a written undertaking at the time of
admission to the effect that they would abide by the timing of the course. The candidates who are employed shall produce
supporting documents to prove the nature of employment or profession and a ‘No
Objection Certificate’ from the employer in the format prescribed by the School.
Documents to be attached to the application
a.
Copies of documents to prove
qualification/age/caste and other relevant certificates should be attached
along with the application. Original documents should be produced at the time
of interview/admission.
b.
Those who have qualified from Universities other
than Mahatma Gandhi University
should produce eligibility/recognition certificate from this University and
Migration Certificate/NOC from parent University at the time of admission.
RELAXATION OF MARKS AND RESERVATION OF
SEATS:
In the absence of
SC/ST candidates, even after re-notifying twice, vacancy will be filled up by
admitting eligible OEC/SEBC/General candidates in the respective order of
preference. Three percent of seats shall
be reserved for candidates having physical disabilities. Physically challenged candidates suffering
from disability of 40% or more and certified as such by a Government Medical
Board indicating the percentage of disability shall be considered for
reservation.
COMMUNAL RESERVATION:
The percentage
break up of seats as per mandatory reservation norms based on
University/Government rules is as follows.

Ezhava/Thiyya - 8 %
2.
Muslim - 7
%
3.
Latin Catholics other than Anglo Indians - 1 %
4.
Other Backward Christians - 1 %
(SIUC & converts to Christianity from SC)
5.
Other Backward Hindus - 3
%
6.
Scheduled Castes - 15%
7.
Scheduled Tribes -
7.5%
8.
BPL among forward community - 7.5%
9.
Kudumbi - 1% (from State merit quota)
BPL
candidates among forward community should invariably submit income certificate
from Village Officer and BPL Certificate from the authority concerned in proof
of their eligibility.
4. WEIGHTAGE OF MARKS
Weightage of marks for proficiency
in Sports/Games/NCC/NSS etc. and bonus marks for Ex-servicemen applicants and
widows and children of Jawans/
Ex-servicemen will be given as per the
existing rules of admission.
5. GENERAL CONDITIONS
a) All those who possess the approved
minimum qualification are eligible to apply.
b) Only the Programmes and their
equivalents approved by the Mahatma
Gandhi University
shall be reckoned as eligible qualification.
c) Candidates AWAITING FINAL YEAR RESULTS CAN
ALSO APPLY FOR THESE PROGRAMMES, PROVIDED THEY PRODUCE THEIR MARKLISTS AT THE
TIME OF ADMISSION.
d) No rounding of percentage of marks
to the nearest whole number is permitted.
HOW TO APPLY:
a.
Application forms can be downloaded from the
Website www.mgu.ac.in. Application forms are not available at any
other source.
b.
Candidates should remit the REGISTRATION FEE of
Rs. 350/- at the University CASH
COUNTER/FRIENDS JANA- SEVANAKENDRAM or by way of D.D. drawn in favour of the
FINANCE OFFICER, MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY, PAYABLE AT SBT M.G. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS
BRANCH (Code No. 669), P.D. HILLS P.O., KOTTAYAM. Full postal address of the applicant with
Pincode is to be entered on the reverse side of the DD in block letters.
c.
SC/ST
candidates need to pay only 50% of the registration fee.
d.
Fee
once remitted shall not be refunded.
e.
The
University will not be responsible for delay in communication or late receipt
of any document due to postal delay.
f.
The
filled up application form should be complete in all respects. Defective and incomplete applications will be
summarily rejected.
g.
Duly filled up applications along with
Registration Fee (DD/Pay-in-slip) and a self addressed stamped (Rs. 5/-)
envelope should be forwarded to the Director, School of Indian Legal Thought, Mahatma Gandhi University, Suryakalady
