Graduate
Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India examination that primarily
tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in
Engineering and Technology. GATE is conducted jointly by the Indian Institute
of Science, Bangalore and seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT Bombay,
IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kanpur, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras and IIT Roorkee)
on behalf of the National Coordination Board GATE, Department of Higher
Education, Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The GATE
score of a candidate reflects the relative performance level of a candidate.
The score is used for admissions to post-graduate programmes (eg. M.E.,
M.Tech., direct Ph.D.) in Indian Higher education institutes with financial
assistance provided by MHRD. To avail the scholarship, the candidate must first
secure admission to such a postgraduate programme, as per the prevailing
procedure of the admitting institution. The score may also be used by Public
Sector units for employment screening purposes. However, candidates with a
Masters degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture may seek admission to
relevant Doctoral programmes with scholarship/assistantship without appearing
in the GATE examination.

JAM-2014
Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. (JAM)
is an all-India entrance examination
administered and conducted across the country jointly by the Indian Institute
of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on
behalf of Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.
The main
objective of JAM is to consolidate science as a career option for bright
students across the country for admission to M.Sc. (Two Year), Joint
M.Sc.-Ph.D., Dual Degree, Integrated Ph.D. and other post - bachelor degree
programmes The vibrant academic ambience, the inter-disciplinary interactions
and research infrastructure of the IISc & IITs will motivate the students
to pursue R&D careers in frontier areas of basic sciences as well as
inter-disciplinary areas of science and technology.

CEED-2014
Common
Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) is an all India examination conducted by
IIT Bombay, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government
of India. CEED is a qualifying examination for Admission to Master of Design
(M.Des.) programmes at IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati and
IIT Kanpur, and Ph.D. programmes in Design in some Institutes. The objective of
CEED is to assess the candidates aptitude for design, involving visual
perception, ability, drawing skills, logical reasoning, creativity, and
communication skills.
