Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main)-2014
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main)-2014,
to be conducted by the JEE Apex Board of the Central Board of Secondary
Education, for admission to Undergraduate Engineering Programmes in NITs,
IIITs, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, participating State
Government Institutions etc. will be held in the online and offline modes in
April, 2014.
For admission to NITs, Centrally Funded Technical
Institutions (CFTIs) like IIITs etc. and other participating Institutions, the merit/rank
list will be prepared by giving 40pc weightage to the Boards marks in Class 12
or equivalent examination and 60pc weightage to JEE(Main) marks. The weightage
to school board/equivalent examination marks shall be considered only after
normalization.
The States of Gujarat, Maharashtra and Odisha have
joined JEE (Main) system. Those seeking admission to the institutions in these
states, which were earlier admitting based on their State Level Examination,
should fill in the JEE (Main) -2014 application form online.
The JEE (Main) will also be the eligibility test
for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring
for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs/ ISM Dhanbad.
So those aspiring IITs/ISM have to appear for the JEE (Main) and qualify.
JEE (Main)-2014 will have two papers. Paper-1 is
for admission to the B.E/B. Tech Programmes and Paper-2, for admissions to the
B. Arch./B.Planning Programmes. Applicants may take Paper-1 or Paper-2 or both,
depending upon the course(s) they are seeking admission and subject to the
subject combination at the qualifying examination, required for each paper.
Paper 1, for admission to B.E/B. Tech will have
objective type questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics, with equal
weightage to the three. This will be conducted in the Pen and Paper Based mode
(Offline) as well as Computer Based mode (Online).
Paper 2 for B.Arch./B.Planning admissions (except
at IITs) will have objective type questions from Mathematics in Part I and
Aptitude Test in Part II. Part III is the Drawing Test with questions to test
drawing aptitude of the candidate. This will be held only in the Pen and Paper
Based mode.
The offline examination for Paper 1 (B.E/B. Tech)
will be held from 9. 30 am to 12.30 pm (IST) on 6.4.2014. The offline
examination for Paper 2 (B.Arch./B.Planning) will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm
(IST) 6.4.2014.
The Online examination (Computer Based Examination)
for Paper 1 (B. E./B. Tech) Only will be held on 9.4.2014, 11.4.2014, 12.4.2014
and 19.4.2014 in two shifts, with the first shift between 0930-1230 Hours (IST)
and 2nd shift (if required) from 1400-1700 Hours(IST).
Eligibility: Those of the General category should
have been born or after October 1, 1989. Those belonging to the Scheduled Caste
(SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories, born or
after October 1, 1984 are eligible to apply.
Only those who have passed their Class 12th Exam or
any equivalent qualifying examination in 2012 or 2013 or those who are
appearing in their Class 12th Exam or any equivalent qualifying examination in
2014 are eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-2014. Those who passed Class
12th/Qualifying examination in 2011 or before as well as those who will appear
in such examination in 2015 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main)-
2014. Those who appeared in class 12th/equivalent qualifying Examinations in
2011, did not pass in 2011, but passed in 2012 are also not eligible to appear
in JEE (Main) 2014. The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE
(Main) is limited to 3.
Since the states of Maharashtra and Odisha have now
joined JEE (Main) system from 2014, the age limit, for admission to
institutions in these states which were earlier admitting candidates based on
their state level examinations, will be as per their past practice only. The
number of attempts in such cases will also remain same as per their past
practice. This will however be obviously not applicable for admission to
IITs/NITs/IIITs/CFTIs.
Examination Fees: The Fee will depend on the Centre
chosen (within India or outside the country), the number of Papers applied (1
or 2), the mode of examination (online or offline), category of the student
(General/SC/ST/OBC/PwD) and the gender status (Boy/Girl)
For Examination Centre Opted in India: Only One
paper in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 1000/- (Boys) and Rs.500/- (Girls);
SC/ST/PwD: Rs.500/- for Boys and Girls; Two papers in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 1800/- (Boys) and Rs.900/-
(Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.900/- for Boys and Girls.
For Paper I in the online mode: General/OBC: Rs
600/- (Boys) and Rs.300/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.300/- for Boys and Girls; For
Paper I in the online mode & Paper II in the offline mode: General/OBC: Rs
1400/- (Boys) and Rs.700/- (Girls), SC/ST/PwD: Rs.700/- for Boys and Girls.
For Examination Centre Opted in Foreign country:
Only One paper in the Offline Mode: General/OBC: Rs 2500/- (Boys) and Rs.1250/-
(Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1250/- for Boys and Girls; Two papers in the Offline
Mode: General/OBC: Rs 3800/- (Boys) and Rs.1900/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1900/-
for Boys and Girls; For Paper I in the online mode: General/OBC: Rs 2500/-
(Boys) and Rs.1250/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1250/- for Boys and Girls; For
Paper I in the online mode & Paper II in the offline mode: General/OBC: Rs
3800/- (Boys) and Rs.1900/- (Girls); SC/ST/PwD: Rs.1900/- for Boys and Girls
The fee can be remitted either by Debit/Credit Card
or through e-Challan, generated after successful submission of online
application form. In case the examination fee is paid through credit/debit
cards, the candidates will need to pay an additional processing charge of 1.20%
of the examination fee plus the service tax as applicable. The fee through
e-Challan may be deposited in any branch of Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank or
ICICI Bank.
Applications: Applications can be submitted only
online only through JEE (Main)-2014 website http://jeemain.nic.in/jeemainapp/Welcome.aspx
from 15th November 2013 to 26th December 2013. The applicant should furnish all the details
and upload scanned image of his/her photograph and signature while filling up
the ‘On-line’ Application.
Applicants are required to take a print out of the
computer generated acknowledgement slip after successful submission of data and
payment of fees and keep the same in safe custody for any future reference.
Applicants are not required to send any
document to JEE (Main) Secretariat.
Application submission is to be completed in seven
steps. Download the information bulletin and read it carefully to ensure
eligibility.
Read the contents of Online Format and instructions
for applying online given in the Information Bulletin and keep the entire
information ready.
Keep the Scanned Images of photograph, signature
and left hand thumb impression ready in JPG format only. Fill in the online
application form Upload scanned images of photograph, signature and thumb
Impression.
Pay examination fee by Debit/Credit card or
e-Challan (generated after submission of details in online application form).
Download Acknowledgement Slip and keep the same in safe custody.
Applicant should mention only his/her own or
parents’ mobile no. and Email ID while submitting the On-Line application, as
all the communications will be sent to the candidates on their registered
Mobile Number and E-mail ID only.
The eligibility criteria for JEE(Main) and JEE
(Advanced) are different. Those desirous of applying should read the
information bulletin to ensure their eligibility as per the criteria laid down
for JEE (Main) as well as JEE (Advanced).
Facilitation Centres will function free of charge,
across the country to help aspiring candidates in filling online application.
The list of such institutes will be available on the JEE (Main) website and in
JEE (Main)-2014 information bulletin.
The detailed information bulletin containing
details of examination, syllabus, eligibility criteria to appear, examination
fees, cities of examination, state code of eligibility, age relaxation, process
of normalization of marks, eligibility for admission, reservation policies and
important dates will be available on JEE(Main)-2014 website www.jeemain.nic.in by the second week of November 2013.
