PhD Program on Full time basis:
Gate QUALIFICATION:
Candidates
(i) who have obtained admission to MTech / MS
programs through GATE score
(OR)
(ii) who have a valid GATE score (qualified in GATE
2012 or 2013) are eligible for admission to PhD program
Program Specific Qualifications: Engineering
Departments:
Civil Engineering:
Minimum Qualifications: BTech and MTech / ME / MS
in Civil Engineering or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with
a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 on a 10 point scale
grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
Electrical Engineering:
Minimum Qualifications: BTech and MTech / ME / MS
in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels)
with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 on a 10 point
scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
Mechanical Engineering:
Minimum Qualifications: BTech and MTech / ME / MS
in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels)
with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 on a 10 point
scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
Electronics and Communication Engineering:
Minimum Qualifications: BTech and MTech / ME / MS
in Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent degree with first

Metallurgical and Materials Engineering:

in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering or equivalent degree with first

6.5 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the
aggregate.

Bio Technology:
Minimum Qualifications:
BTech (Biotechnology / Industrial Biotechnology /
Chemical Engineering / Bio-Chemical Engineering) and MTech (Biotechnology /
Industrial Biotechnology / Bio-Chemical Engineering) or equivalent degree with
first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at
least 6.5 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the
aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
Program Specific Qualifications: Science Departments:
Mathematics:
Minimum Qualifications: BSc and MSc / MPhil in
Mathematics or equivalent degree (at all levels) with first class with a
Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 on a 10 point scale
grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
Physics:
Minimum Qualifications: BSc and MSc / MPhil in
Physics or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least 6.5 on a 10 point scale grading system,
or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less

Chemistry:
Minimum Qualifications: BSc and MSc / MPhil in
Chemistry or equivalent degree with first class (at all levels) with a

For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point

English:
Minimum Qualifications: Any Undergraduate degree
(BA / BCom / BSc) and MA / MPhil in English or equivalent degree with first
class (at all levels) with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at least
6.5 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less than 60% marks in the
aggregate.
For SC / ST candidates Cumulative Grade Point
Average (CGPA) of at least 6.0 on a 10 point scale grading system, or not less
than 55% marks in aggregate.
PhD Program on Fulltime Basis in School pf
Management:
Eligibility and Selection
Candidates possessing MBA (admission through CAT /
MAT / GMET Score)
AND
(i) BTech / MTech in any branch of Engineering with
a valid GATE / NET Score
OR
(ii) MTech (admission through GATE score) in any
branch of Engineering are eligible for admission to PhD program in School of
Management.
PhD Program on Part time basis:
Eligibility and Selection:
The prescribed minimum qualification for admission
into PhD program is MTech / ME / MS /
MPhil or equivalent degree, or B. Tech / BE /MSc /MSc (Tech) / MA or equivalent
degree.
For PhD in Management, the minimum qualification is
MTech in Management, or MBA with BTech,
or MBA with Master’s degree either in Sciences or in Economics.
CAT or GMAT qualification is desirable. For PhD in
Bio- Technology the minimum qualification is BTech / MTech (Bio-Tech) or
equivalent degree. Admission to a PhD program
shall be open to candidates who
passed the prescribed qualifying
examination in first class with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of at
least 6.5 in the 0 - 10 scale grading system (6.0 in the case of SC / ST
candidates), or not less than 60% marks in the aggregate (55% marks in the case
of SC / ST candidates).
The PhD Program on Part-time basis is open to,
(a) JRF’s /
SRF’s in CSIR / DST / Defence laboratories / Govt. R&D organizations, who have put-in at least two years of
experience.
(b)
Scientists / Engineers working in Industries / R&D Organizations who
have put-in at least two years of
experience.
(c) Faculty
members working in educational institutions who have put in at least two years’ experience.

The filled in applications along with necessary
documents and a crossed Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- (Rs.500/- in the case of SC
/ ST candidates) towards Registration fee, drawn in favour of The Director,
National Institute of Technology, Warangal, payable at SBH, NIT Warangal branch
(Code No. 2149) should reach Admissions Officer, National Institute of Technology,
Warangal 506004 on or before 15th November 2013.

Birth
(b) Attested copy of Intermediate / (10+2) Certificate
(c) Attested copies of Degree Certificates and
Marks Memos of the qualifying Examinations
(d) List of publications (if any)
(e) Attested copy of the caste certificate (in case
of SC / ST candidates)
(f) For OBC candidates, OBC certificate issued
after 31.03.2013 as per the format given in the annexure only is accepted.
(g) No Objection Certificate from the employer
(h) Photo being pasted on the application form
