MTech/MS/PhD Admission Notice 2014
International Institute
of Information Technology, Bangalore has invited applications from eligible
candidates for admission to following courses of Academic Year 2014-15:
1) Integrated MTech:
The minimum
qualification for admission to the Integrated MTech programme is a first-class
in 10 + 2 (or equivalent) with Mathematics as one of the subjects. Students
expecting to complete the minimum requirement by August 2014 may also apply.
2) MTech:
The minimum
qualification for admission to the MTech programme is a first-class four-year
bachelor's degree in engineering (i.e. BE, BTech, or equivalent). First class
degree holders in 3-year undergraduate programmes followed by Master’s Degree
with first class in any of the physical sciences, or an MCA degree with first
class, can also apply. Final-year students expecting to graduate by August 2013
may also apply. First class or equivalent is required in 12th (or equivalent)
grade as well.
3) PhD / MS by Research:
Research domain-specific
requirements are as follows:
For applicants to
Computer Science, Data Sciences, Embedded Systems & VLSI, Networking
Communication & Signal Processing, and Software Engineering, a four-year
bachelor’s degree in engineering (BE, BTech or equivalent) is required for MS
by Research and a master’s degree in engineering (ME, MTech or equivalent) is
required for PhD Additional specific requirements are as follows:
Computer Science: MS by
Research applicants should have a valid GATE score of at least 600 and PhD
applicants should have written / taken GRE or GATE in the last five years.
Data Sciences:
Applicants for this stream should have taken one of the following examinations:
GATE examination for
Computer Science
A 45-minute written
examination conducted by the research domain at IIITB exclusively for
applicants to Data Sciences.
Embedded Systems &
VLSI: Applicants should have a GATE or GRE score.
Networking, Communications
& Signal Processing: Applicants are encouraged to take GATE or GRE
examination. Exceptional applicants without a GATE or GRE score may take a
IIITB entrance examination or oral examination, as decided by the research
domain.
Software Engineering:
Applicants should have a GATE or GRE score.
For applicants in
Physics, eligible candidates should have satisfied one or more of the following
requirements:
(i) the minimum
qualification required is an MSc in Physics or a master’s degree (MSc, ME,
MTech or equivalent) in related disciplines. Candidates should have appeared
and qualified in a national entrance test (CSIR-UGC NET, UGC-NET, JEST or NBHM
examination).
(ii) Candidates with INSPIRE fellowships.
(iii) Exceptional BE or
BTech candidates may also be considered provided they have qualified in one of
the above-mentioned tests.
(iv) Candidates who have held KVPY fellowships
will also be considered. Candidates who may fall in category (ii) or (iv) of
the eligibility criteria may also be required to appear in a written test
conducted by the Institute.
For applicants in
Mathematics: The minimum qualification required is a four-year bachelor’s
degree in engineering (BTech, BE or equivalent) or a master’s degree in
Mathematics. Candidates should have appeared and qualified in one of the two
national entrance examinations: CSIR-UGC NET or NBHM.
For applicants in IT
& Society: The minimum qualification required is a four-year bachelor’s
degree in engineering (BE, BTech or equivalent) for a MS by research applicant
and a master’s degree in engineering (ME, MTech or equivalent) for a PhD
applicant. Candidates with master’s degree in any social sciences are also
eligible to apply for both the programs. Candidates are encouraged to take
GATE, JRF, NET, GRE, or GMAT examinations. Candidates without the specified
test score may apply as well. Applicants may have to take a written examination
at IIITB when shortlisted candidates are called for interview.
How to apply:

all the programmes using online application only at http://iiitb.in
All candidates need to
pay a non-refundable application fee of Rs.1000/-. There are two options for
making the payment as explained below:
1. Demand Draft:
Get a demand draft from
any Bank in favor of 'International Institute of Information Technology
Bangalore' payable at Bangalore. Write your name and application ID at the back
of the DD.
Choose the mode of
Payment as DD in 'Make Payment' Tab and click 'Submit'. Take a print of the
Payment advice form and sign it.
Send the following to
the IIITB address given below:
Original demand draft
(write your Name and the Application ID on the backside)
MS and PhD candidates
shall send a Print out of your Online Application Form

2. Cash at SBI Bank
(Payment through challan)
Select the option of
Payment through SBI Bank branch and take the print out of the SBI Pay-in-slip.
This pay-in-slip consists of 3 parts one for bank’s record, one for your own
record and the third for sending to IIITB for completing the registration process.
You need to pay the cash at any SBI Bank branches in your city. On making the
payment, the bank will return two parts of the pay-in-slip to you, one of which
will be the receipt for you.
Send the following to
the Collection Center address given below:

MS and PhD candidates

PhD Applications &
MS by Research Applications:
Apply online as per the
procedure given above and submit the following with a covering letter giving a
summary, to:

A printout of the duly
filled online application form
Transcripts or attested
copies of prior academic work, and copies of any published papers.
A statement of purpose
of between 1000-2000 words, indicating research goals and prior research
experience.
A non-refundable
application fee of Rs. 1000, in the form of a demand draft payable to
IIITBangalore.
In addition, arrange to
have three letters of recommendation supporting the application sent directly
to the Registrar (Such letters should be from former Professors, research
supervisors, or other qualified people familiar with the applicant and able to
describe and attest to his/her scholastic ability and aptitude for firstrate
research.).
