Medical College and Research Foundation, established in the year 2004 by
Foundation of non-resident Indians trust, is located at a serene and lush green
village near the State Capital away from
the bristles of urban life, at a distance of 0.75 KM away from State
High way near Venjaramoodu town. The
campus provides the Peace and tranquility needed for the healthy living and
education. The institution has all
modern infrastructure required to train health care professionals. Currently this institution conduct MBBS
course with annual intake of 150 students and Medical P.G degree courses in 16
specialities and diploma in 5 specialities with annual intake of 43
students. This institution focus on
imparting quality medical education to eligible students of all categories
eliminating the Urban & Rural and rich and poor division and produce
competent specialists and Medical Teachers.
Admission
to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses in Sree Gokulam Medical College and Research
Foundation for the academic year 2014-15

1.3
This prospectus contains the rules and regulations applicable for selection and
admission to MD/MS/PG Diploma courses (for academic year 2014-15). This prospectus contains procedure for
admission to all those seats to be filled up by the management.
1.4 This prospectus is subject to
modification/addition/deletion as may be deemed necessary by the Management and
also subject to further orders, if any, passed by appropriate authorities/courts of law.
II. DURATION OF THE COURSES
As per the MCI Postgraduate Medical
Education Regulations, 2000, 10 (1) & (3), the duration of the course
including University Examination is 3 years in the case of Degree Courses and 2
years in the case of Diploma Courses.
There shall be course deduction of one year in the duration of P.G
degree courses in respect of candidates who have done P.G. Diploma course of
two years and awarded Diploma in the same subject. The candidates must have acquired the P.G
Diploma pass certificate on or before 30th April 2014 for being
eligible for reduction in the duration of the course. No other reduction in the duration of the
course shall be granted.
The date of commencement of the
Course and the last date of completion of admission process will be as per the
time schedule fixed by the Medical Council of India/Supreme Court of India.
III. CRITERIA OF
ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION
3.1 Nationality:
Candidates must be Citizens of
India/children or dependents of Non Resident Indians.
3.2 Academic
i. Applicants should have passed the MBBS
Degree from any of the Universities in Kerala or of any other University recognized by the
Kerala University of Health Sciences as equivalent thereto with eligibility for
full registration in respect of all courses.
Applicants who have completed the Compulsory Rotating Resident Internship
(C.R.R.I) on or before 31/03/2014 are eligible to apply; but admission to the
candidates will be given only after obtaining registration of Travancore Cochin
Medical Council / Medical Council of India
Applicants must meet all the requirements that may be stipulated by
Medical Council of India and Kerala University of Health Sciences, from time to
time.
ii. In the case of an Indian national with
the recognized degree from Foreign University, the Medical Council of India
may, on payment of the prescribed fee for the registration, grant temporary/permanent
registration for the duration of the Post Graduate training restricted to the
college/institution to which the applicant is admitted for the time being
exclusively for the Post Graduate studies.
Temporary/Permanent registration to such candidates shall be subject to
the condition that the degree is duly registered in the country where the
degree is obtained and is recognized by the corresponding Council or concerned
authority in India also.
iii.
No condonation of internship
(C.R.R.I) will be accepted.
iv. In order to be eligible for admission
under Management quota to any post graduate course in the year 2014, the
candidate should qualify in the All India Post Graduate Medical Entrance
Examination 2014 (AIPGMEE 2014) by securing not less than 50% marks. In the case of SC/ST/OBC candidates the
minimum marks shall be 40% . In the case
of physically handicapped candidates the minimum marks shall be 45% .
In the event of non-availability of
sufficient candidates who have qualified AIPGMEE 2014 among the applicants for
admission under management quota seats, candidates qualified in other entrance
examinations conducted at National level / as specified in MCI Regulations will
be considered for admission, taking into account the marks secured in such
entrance examination, marks secured in MBBS examination and number of attempts
to pass MBBS examination.

Tution fee for NRI quota seats
shall be 50,000/- U S Dollars or
equivalent per year
Note:1.
Tuition Fee for management as well as NRI admissions of the first year shall be
paid at the time of admission. The candidate must give a bank guarantee for
the tuition fee of the subsequent years,
at the time of admission.
2. The Fees prescribed by the
University/other statutory bodies (like administration fee, affiliation fee,
exam fee registration fee, etc.) shall be paid by the students in actual from
time to time.
3. Besides Tuition Fees, caution
deposit, Hostel & Mess fees will have to be paid extra.
V. HOW TO APPLY
5.1
The application form and prospectus
can be downloaded from the website of the college. Application forms and
prospectus can also be obtained from the college office on payment of Rs. 1000/- (One Thousand only).Since the
application forms are available from the website, the same will not be sent to candidates by
post.
5.2
The Application shall be submitted as detailed below.
a. Completed application form should be
submitted with all required documents and DD to the Principals office of the
college before 5 PM on 26th May 2014.
i.
Application form can be submitted
using the form available along with the prospectus.
ii.
The application form can be
submitted online on the website of the Collegewww.sgmc.in.
From 17th may 2014 onwards. A print out of the online application
with copies of required documents affixing the photograph and signature shall
be submitted along with a DD for Rs. 1000/-- (Rupees One Thousand Only) drawn
in favour of Sree Gokulam Medical College & Research Foundation payable at
Thiruvananthapuram.
iii.
The filled in application along
with copies of documents and DD for Rs. 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only) drawn
in favour of Sree Gokulam Medical College & Research Foundation shall be
submitted to the Principals office of the college so as to reach before 5 PM on
26th May 2014.
b)
Applicants shall obtain acknowledgement from the college office for the
applications submitted in person.
c)
Applications submitted should be complete in all respects. Incomplete applications will stand rejected. Applicant will not be allowed to include any
information in the application form, nor submit any certificates/documents,
later.
5.3
Photocopies of following Certificates/Documents attested by a Gazetted
Officer or the head of the Institution last studied to be submitted
along with the application:
a.
School Leaving Certificate (S.S.L.C) of student/Proof of Date of Birth.
b. All marks sheets of M.B.B.S
including that of failed years, if any (First
Year to Final Year University examination mark cards)
c. Attempt Certificate.
d. Internship Completion Certificate/Internship
Completed Certificate
The CRRI should have completed on or before 31st March 2014
e. Degree Certificate/Provisional
Degree Certificate
f. Registration certificate from the
MCI / State Medical Council
g. Admit Card and Score Card of
AIPGMEE 2014/ other Entrance test qualified.
h. Certificate issued by competent
authority (Authorized to issue such
a certificate but not below the rank of the Tahsildar) to prove
SC/ST/OBC status(if applicable)
VI. Preparation
of Rank list and publication of the same:
6.1 All eligible candidates who apply will be
arranged in the rank list.
6.2 Counseling: Admissions will be based
on a counseling. Candidates will be
called for personal counseling in the order of their rank and will be given
allotments and admissions based on their preferential options.
VII
SELECTION & ADMISSION
7.1
Publication of 1st list of selected candidates will be on 14/06/2014 and the
candidate selected should take admission before 5 PM on 21st June 2014 . Last date for filling up of vacant seat, if
any, from the published list will be 28th June 2014 upto 5 PM
7.2
Original documents required at the time of
Counseling/Admission
: While reporting for admission, all the relevant certificates/documents
(Originals) listed below should be submitted to the Institution and the same
will be returned to the candidates only at the time of leaving the Institution.
i. Admit Card and Score Card of the
AIPGMEE 2014/ other Entrance Test
qualified.
ii. MBBS Pass/Degree Certificate from the
concerned University.
iv.
Attempt certificate issued by the
Principal of the College where the candidate had studied
v.
Certificate from the Head of the
Institution from where the candidate has passed his M.B.B.S degree indicating
the MCI approval number and date.
vi.
Completion of Internship
certificate. If a candidate has
completed his/her Internship from a non-teaching Institution, a certificate to
prove the recognition of the center.
vii.
Registration certificate from the
MCI or/ State Medical Council.
viii.
S.S.L.C Certificate
ix.
Proof of Date of Birth (if
applicable).

Plus Two/Higher Secondary
Certificate and/or Mark Sheet

principal of the Medical College where the candidate last studied.
7.4 The Management will have the right to decline
admission to any candidate on genuine grounds.
In such cases, the reasons for the same will be recorded and
communicated to the student concerned,
immediately.
VIII
CANCELATION OF ADMISSION AND REFUNDS
8.1
As per order dt 14/03/2014 of Hon'ble Supreme
Court of india in writ petition (Civil) No.433/2013 the last date for joining
the candidates is 30th June. How ever
the last date up to which students can be admitted against vacancies arising due to any reason from the
waiting list is 10th July 2014. “There
shall be no admission of students in respect of this academic session beyond 10th
July 2014 for postgraduate course under any circumstances. The Universities shall not register any
student admitted beyond the said date”. Accordingly, all admissions will have to be closed on or before 10th
July 2014, or any other date as extended by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
After closure of admissions the seat, if vacated, cannot be filled up. Such seats will go vacant for the entire
duration of the course. Therefore,,
those who leave the course after the closure of admissions will have to pay
liquidated damages equivalent of the tuition fees for the remaining period of
the course.
8.2
In addition to the above, such students will
have to pay hostel, mess and other fees
proportionately for the period they remained on the rolls of the
college. For the purpose of calculations of proportionate recovery part
of a month will be considered as a full month.
IX METHOD OF
TRAINING
9.1
Training of Post Graduates, as per MCI regulations, will not only hospital
based, but also community oriented. As
per MCI Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000, “The training of PG
students shall involve learning experiences ‘derived from’ or ‘targeted to’ the
needs of the community”. It shall be
necessary to expose the students to community based activities.
9.2
Generally, residency programme with graded responsibility would be followed in
the respective department. The
curriculum and syllabus of each department is available separately.
9.3
Training will also include out reach community programmes and rotation postings
of small duration in the different out reach hospitals of the medical college.
X. ACCOMMODATION:
10.1 Accommodation will be provided by the
Institution subject to terms and conditions as applicable
10.2 Food expenses
will have to be borne by the students.
XI . ATTENDANCE
& LEAVE
11.1 Minimum of 80% attendance in each academic
year is compulsory. Students availing
long leave will be able to appear for
the examination only after additional six months/one year.
11.2 Those students who are required to do
extended durations will have to pay additional fees.
11.3
Those students who miss university
examination can appear only in the next university examination, which will
normally be held within six months from the date of the earlier examination or
as per specific directives of the Medical Council of India/Kerala University
of Health Sciences
XIII.
DISCIPLINE
13.1 Rules
and regulations as prescribed should be strictly followed at the college,
hospital and hostels.
13.2 Smoking and consumption of alcoholic drinks are totally prohibited.
13.3 Students are expected to obey the dress code
of the College. Jeans, Baggies T-Shirts
and the likes are not permitted to be worn inside the hospital/College. All students are expected to wear formal pants, shirts and shoes. They should wear overcoat.
13.4 There will be regular value oriented
classes/discussions in the campus.
Students are advised to participate in these programmes. This is an institution meant for higher
learning and its objective is not only to impart education but also to build
the character of the students and transform them into better human beings.
13.5 Students are expected to observe absolute
discipline in their conduct during the entire period they spend in the institution. Failure to observe absolute discipline will
invite appropriate disciplinary action.
13.6 Ragging is strictly prohibited. If it is found during the admission or any
time there after that the applicant has indulged in ragging admission shall be
refused or the student shall be expelled from the institution. Whoever commits, participate in, abets or
propagate ragging within or outside the institution shall be suspended from the
institution with immediate effect and
the Principal shall report the matter to the civil/police authorities.
XIV,
SERVICE BOND
The management reserves the right to
insist for a Service Bond from those who complete the course successfully.
XV. REDRESSAL OF
GRIEVANCES
Any grievances/complaints regarding
selection and admission can be brought to the notice of the Director within 24 hours of occurrence of the
grievance.
